We spent a week here with our 1 year old and 3 year old. We've been to Seattle twice before, but never stayed in a house. When I found this house online with the views and the weekly rate, it was obvious that it was the perfect place to stay...and I was right! Sheila keeps a beautiful living space and was very welcoming and sweet! She even made a fruit, cheese, and wine basket for us on arrival. My favorite thing about the house was sitting in the rocking chair in the living room, holding my little one, and being able to see the Puget Sound out the three picture windows. On the clearest day we even saw Mt Ranier! We would definitely highly recommend and would love to stay here again!

This view was much more than we thought possible. The home was fantastic. The kitchen was nice , the bathroom was nice and the living area was perfect , also with the same view as the deck.It is great for 2, might be a little problem with 4 people, depending on the 4 people and there expectations. The town of Burien was nice and has every thing you need. The light rail is good but not necessarily convenient, because of the parking problem. We used it but we had to take the bus to the airport light rail station. There is a family of raccoons that visit on occasion. You will enjoy he place.

We rented this property with very short notice. The owner went above and beyond by far to accommodate our family from booking to departure. The property is in a very central location, yet makes one feel as though they are in complete seclusion. The views at night and during the day are absolutely breathtaking. The property was completely beyond our expectations.

Our family of four felt right at home during our 6-night stay in this great rental. The view was fantastic, the beds were comfy, the place was super-clean, and there was room to spread out. We appreciated Sheila's welcome gift of cheese, crackers, fruit and wine. The kids had fun collecting shells on the private beach below the house, and they even walked to the public beach about a mile away. Since our primary goal was to have a view of the Sound, this place was perfect. We sat on the deck and could often hear the waves lapping the shore. Relaxing. We also enjoyed watching different boats and ships passing by. The drive to Seattle was only about 15 minutes, and it was great coming 'home' to a house rather than to a hotel room. We cooked breakfast each day before we ventured out which saved money. One night we cooked a meal from items we got at Pike Market. It was also fun to explore the area, and everything you could want/need was within a few minutes' drive - fast food places, grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, even the hospital. It was hard to leave, but we have great memories of our stay. Thank you, Shiela.

I had the pleasure of staying at this property for a week in late August. We rented the apartment attached to the main home. I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay turned out to be. It is centrally located and we were able to make day trips to the San Juans North and all the way to the Columbia River in Oregon. Access to Seattle is very simple, and the town of Burien is worth checking out. As wonderful as our great adventures were in this beautiful area, coming "home" to this lovely place really was the highlight of our trip. I don't think a more beautiful, peaceful or comfortable place could be found. We travelled and adventurously explored the area, and to come back to a cozy nest with all the necessities was such a joy. The beds and sheets are top notch, fully outfitted kitchen, washer and dryer, and even WIFI made our stay much more than we expected. Shiela, our host, was an absolute delight. Shopping and grocery stores are minutes away, as are a large selection of places to eat out, including international food. The view from the windows and outside from the deck are spectacular. We spent quite a lot of time outside enjoying sunrises lighting up Mt Ranier in pink and gold, the night time sparkle of Tacoma across the sound to the South. We were treated to visitations by harbor seals off shore, osprey plucking dinner from the water, and many various birds which were fun to look up in our Audubon bird guide book. Other interesting water life included crab pot fishermen, pleasure boats and various sea going vessels including freighters and container ships headed to and from Seattle and Tacoma. Because the property is high off the water, it accentuates the view and maintains the peaceful setting. I found the tide going in and out and exposing new landscapes to be very interesting. I hope to get a chance to revisit this area. If so, we will definitely seek to stay at this place again.

My family and I have returned to this property for three years. Sheila is very helpful and accomodating with great recommendations. The property feels so restful and far from traffic and shopping malls, but within minutes you can be at the airport, grocery store, gym, or haridressers. Of course, one of the greatest attractions is the beautiful southern view across the Sound to Vashon Island. I love to sit on the deck and watch the gentle passing of ships, barges, kyaks and paddle boards. I wish I were there now!

Very nice welcome, and we appreciated the friendly attitude that you showed. The only drawback was the furniture was not comfortable. The bed was great though and I slept like a baby. Well worth the price. My wife loved the view and so did I.

The greatest spot for R&R, our first visit to Seattle! We loved the cozy cottage with all the comforts of home and unreal views from every room! We enjoyed walks along the beach and magnificent sunsets everyday. There was close access to the Light Rail system which took us into Seattle center without traffic hassle. Thank you Sheila for your 'over-the-top' hospitality!! We're already dreaming of a return visit.

We spent a week in August at the West Seattle Carraiage House and couldn' have found a better place in all of Seattle. The views from our living room were spectacular: Ranier and the Sound. Everything was in the Carriage House that we needed and it was immaculate. Definitely planning on returning.

Wonderful views of the Sound, Mt Rainier, and the Olympic mountain range. Large patio and picnic table for dining outdoors or just admiring the views. 20 min from downtown Seattle (avoid I-5 and take HWY 509 instead). Your hostess, Sheila, is great and will answer any questions you may have about the surrounding area.

We came down for our first trip to the Coast and this was a great space that totally met our needs. It was clean, homey and very comfortable. We were close enough to experience all Seattle had to offer as well as have a quiet setting to relax and enjoy the surroundings. It was well worth the trip. Sheila was a very hospitable and kind host and we appreciated everything she did for us. Thanks for a lovely week!!

We stayed at the cottage the first week in August, 2011. What caught our attention first was the exhilarating view of Puget Sound, Mount Ranier and the Olympic Mountains off both decks of the cottage. The cottage is very comfortable, clean and private. Part of the attraction of the privacy of the cottage is that it requires negotiating some fairly steep stairs leading to its entry. Sheila, the owner, lives on the property and is very friendly and helpful with any questions, suggestions, and directions. We look forward to staying at the cottage in the future and highly recommend the property.

We were more than thrilled by this little cottage right on the sound. It is small, really best suited for a couple or four at most. We had four total guests and it worked out well, though we did have to use the fold-out couch for sleeping arrangements. Two decks, one off the bedrooms downstairs and one off the living room, provided beautiful views of Mt Rainier and the Olympics across the water. The area is full of homes on the water, but our stay was very quiet and peaceful, even though a lot of people were about. Clean and well-apportioned with kitchen and laundry in-house! Property manager was very friendly and easy to work with. Overall, one of the best vacations we've ever had, due in no small part to the perfect fit of this cottage rental with our needs.

We needed to escape LA for the summer & wanted to experience Seattle. We found this inspirational retreat for our long term vacation. It's hard to explain the manificent rim of the world view with magical Mt. Rainier in the horizon. Flowers in bloom, the deep blue sound, and the quiet location and the affordable price made this stay something we will not forget. We had privacy and felt totally at home.

I don't need to look any further for a short-term rental in this area. The owner met every need and then some. This Sound-view property is close to businesses and the airport without any airport noise. Very comfortable and restful decor. We loved it and hope to return next year.
