Wayne and Helen were the greatest landlords ever. The property was better than described. Beautiful place to wake up to each day on Salmon Bay. Will highly recommend to all of our friends and anyone traveling to Seattle!

Perfect space, roomy, light and on the water. It was fun watching the boats come and go from the locks, salmon fishermen, a couple of seals and various birds.....from the patio. A car is necessary for getting to shopping & restaurants. The place was immaculate with a very ample and well appointed kitchen. The owners were attentive to our needs. We would love to stay there again.

Escape to Magnolia!
August 10, 2012
We spent eight days in Wayne and Helen's fabulous rental. They are so friendly and knowledgeable about the area, whether afloat or on land. The term hideaway can seem overused but so appropriate in describing this beautiful spot on the waterway just below the Ballard Locks. We had plans to see sights in the Seattle area but only left the neighborhood exactly once during our stay. Almost every day, we would have lunch at Chinook's at Fishermen's Terminal (home to the Alaskan fishing fleet), Anthony's or our favorite, Ray's Cafe (three times!) with its stunning views from our neighborhood to the bustling maritime traffic of Shilshole Bay. When I pointed out our residence to Ray's foodservers from our table, they were properly impressed. Several days we never left the unit, choosing instead to sit on the large banana tree-lined deck and watch the world go by. Coming from the desert, it was a feast for the senses to see all manner of vessels from kayaks to freighters and luxury yachts, paddleboarders to tugs pushing multiple barges. Trains had to take turns on the big drawbridge with sailboats' masts while osprey (fish eagles) kept close watch from their towering nest. Then there were the gaggle of Canada geese who put on their daily show beneath our deck with their bathing, preening and athletic wing-flapping displays. Eagles, herons, Caspian terns and those wacky Kingfishers added to the show. The unit itself was set up to attend to our every need, with personalized decor, not the generic vacation rental variety. After suffering with cheap blurry motel TV's, the two Sony flat screens were a joy to behold. One caveat for those with limited mobility: Even though this is a ground floor unit, getting to it involves descending a number of outdoor steps. To sum it up, after being in downtown Seattle with its bewildering traffic and crowds, we couldn't wait to go back to our secluded Magnolia hideaway.

WATERFRONT VIEW TO DIE FOR
August 15, 2011
Cozy and comfortable accommodations with lots of vases to hold all the flowers I kept buying at the Pike Place Market.. Near to shops and markets and Seattles many attractions. Wayne and Helen are gracious hosts and their fresh crab was a real treat. The flat has many nice little touches that were appreciated by this month long renter. We highlyy recommend this property and wouldn't hesitate to rent it again.
My best time abroad ever !!
June 30, 2011
How to describe the moments I spent in Seattle? Fabulous! I am a young business student, and I had an internship of 2 months abroad. I find a place to work here in Seattle, but before leaving France, I had to find the place where I'm going to live. Well, it was finally in Magnolia where I found my happiness. The apartment is very large, very well furnished, and it's a place where life is good. The view on the waterfront is one of the best views in Seattle, and if you go for a walk during low tide, you will also see the mountains !! The patio will become the place where you spend most of your time in the summer, and the living room with fireplace if you come in winter (even in the summer, you're going to spend lots of time in front of the fireplace). The kitchen is very well laid out, I didn't stop to cook during those two months, because it was really easy to concoct tasty dishes there. The bedroom is big and so beautiful: the bed is very comfortable, and you'll love to fall asleep and wake up with the sounds of waves (however, beware of seagulls...) As for the owners, I think they must be among the nicest and adorable people I ever met. They helped me a lot to discovered Seattle and its region (which is beautiful by the way). They also made me discover the art of barbecue in the Pacific Northwest style, and I was able to share my french "savoir-faire" in matters of wine and cheese. They are very familiar with the area, so feel free to ask their advice on things to visit. During your stay, you're going to see many boats and yachts, but also the wildlife: seals, sea lions, eagles, great herons, crabs, fishes... and you're closest neighbor will be the seagulls and the Canadian geese !! In summary, you will so much love the time your gonna spend here, that it's gonna be really hard for you to leave. As we say in France "You'll cry once when you will arrive, and you'll cry twice when you will leave".

Our quiet winter retreat!
January 4, 2011
We loved our time in this home, it was quiet, clean, large with nice amenities. They even have a pair of binoculars to use. Watching the boats, birds, bridge and tide was so fun. The owners are generous with their fresh caught crab and helpful with local information too. The fireplace is beautiful and the two large TVs are great. Everything is there for a wonderful vacation. Many thanks to the owners!

For six weeks we enjoyed this wonderful, fully furnished apartment. A great space with a well-equipped kitchen made it easy for us to feel at home. Imagine waking up in the morning with the view on the Chittenden Locks and the traffic on the water. Discovery Park with its great trails and beaches, where you can watch the sea lions, the river otters, and the herons, is a treasure, even in November. The bus to Ballard, Fremont, and downtown Seattle is only a short walk away. The owners introduced us to the thrills of crab fishing, and shared their best recipes with us to prepare the catch. They have made our stay in Magnolia such a unique experience. We’ll never forget it!
Great Apt w/ Wonderful View
October 22, 2010
I stayed in this wonderful apartment for 5 months while relocating for a job. The accommodations were great! The furniture and apartment was comfortable and fully furnished- you don’t need a thing, whether staying for the week or for 5 months. The view is spectacular and constantly changing with boats, sea lions, bald eagles, etc... passing by. The owners, who live in the building, were quiet and respectful and kind. Living without my family for several months was tough and the Landlords were particularly hospitable to me- often bringing me fresh cooked crab and other treats. The location is terrific. Magnolia feels secluded, yet is 15 minutes to the core business district. Magnolia Village has plenty of cafes, restaurants, and other attractions to keep one busy. We liked the neighborhood so much my family just rented a large house in Magnolia. I definitely would recommend staying here, whether your stay is short or long.

A Restful Retreat on Salmon Bay
March 27, 2010
Our stay in this wonderfully apppointed and immaculate apartment was restful and comfortable. The modern and efficient kitchen afforded us a nice place in which to concoct our own meals, but there also were many diverse restaurants in Magnolia and nearby Ballard. We were duly entertained by the many, and varied, boats, from humble working and fishing vessels to luxury yachts, and even kayaks, that plied the waters of the canal between the fresh waters of Lake Washington and Puget Sound, and also by the seals, otters, and birds that thrive in this lush habitat. We even had a resident American Bald Eagle living in a tree closeby. In nearby Discover Park, which housed Ft. Lawton, a former military base, we found peace and tranquility among the huge trees and natural fields, where we could hike the many trails, some more challenging than others. It is a good place to have a picnic lunch while basking in the beauty of the snowcapped Olympic Mountains, to the West, towering over Puget Sound. We only have good things to say about this apartment, and its owners--we were welcomed, warmly, by them. It was a perfect and quiet place in which to retreat after a busy day of exploring the immediate area and downtown Seattle, which is only a short bus ride away! We are eager to return!
