Description of the Sebago vacation cottage rental

Very private Maine cottage just 12 feet from the water's edge located on Peabody Pond in Sebago, Maine. There is a nice sandy beach with a gradual entry into the water. The lake is very clean and relatively undeveloped. Good fishing, great sunrises, and lots of wildlife (there are loons on the lake). The lake is 65 feet deep at its deepest and is 2 miles long by about 1 mile wide. The cottage comfortably sleeps 6 and is located on a private one acre lot. Two kayaks and a canoe are provided with a 40 ft. long dock and swim float for great swimming.

Area Description

The lake is 10 minutes from Sebago Lake and about a 45 minute drive to Portland, Maine, one hour to Freeport Maine, home of LLBean and lots of factory stores, and just 45 minutes from North Conway in the white mountains of New Hampshire. The quaint towns of Bridgton and Naples Maine are 15 minutes away with several good restaurants; blueberry picking is just a couple of miles from the cottage and there are two mountains for outdoor 'family' hikes.

Payment Options: Cashier's Check, Money Order, Personal Check
Check In: 3 p.m.
Check Out: 10 a.m.
Required Stay: Saturday to Satruday
Lodging Tax: 8.5 % effective Jan. 2010
Deposits: 25% of weekly rental rate plus security/cleaning deposits. Saturday to Saturday only week long rentals during peak summer season.
Other Fees: Cleaning deposit of $75 and security deposit of $200, both refundable.

Thank you for allowing us to vacation in your cabin, we wish we did not have to leave. The cabin is fantastic and so comfortable. The outside surroundings are so nice, especially the beautiful foliage. We loved the kayaks,canoe and really enjoyed the sights and sounds of the loons. What a peaceful getaway. We look forward to visiting again next year!

Peace and quiet, October 3, 2009

After 9 days of workshops, I had a 3 day break in my schedule. The Murphy's cottage was the perfect spot for recharging my batteries. Cate gave me complete info on finding the place, running the wood stove, and other miscellany. A notebook of info about attractions in the area helped my choice of activities. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be staying here!

One of our favorite vacations!, July 16, 2008

We vacationed with four children (2 boys, ages 14 and 15, & 2 girls ages 9 & 11). We all the time of our lives! It was the perfect combination of relaxation, adventure, and fun! Although we enjoyed the area, our preference was to be at the cabin. The lake was beautiful, warm and quiet - kids LOVED the floating dock and the kyaks. We hiked on nearby trails, steamed Maine lobsters, & spent a day in Portland (only 1 hour away). The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed and more! We can't wait to go back!

This was a lovely place to spend a week with our family. The lake is beautiful and offers something for everyone: fishing, swimming, kayaking, or just sitting on the deck and watching the loons. We were amazed at the peace and quiet of the lake, even around the July 4th holiday!

Vacation trip for my parents, June 23, 2008

I rented the house for my parents for their anniversary. I talked to them everyday and they told me how great it was there. They enjoyed the peace and quiet and the wonderful view. Judging from what they've told me, I would recommend this to anyone. They've already talked about going back next year!
