Description of the Sebago vacation cottage rental

Very private Maine cottage just 12 feet from the water's edge located on Peabody Pond in Sebago, Maine. There is a nice sandy beach with a gradual entry into the water. The lake is very clean and relatively undeveloped.Ideal for a family of 4 to 6, or two couples.Great for young children too! Good fishing, great sunrises, and lots of wildlife (there are loons on the lake). The lake is 65 feet deep at its deepest and is 2 miles long by about 1 mile wide. The cottage comfortably sleeps 6 and is located on a private one acre lot. Tandem kayak just added! The property also has three kayaks and a canoe with a 40 ft. long dock (and a nice side sitting dock) and swim float for great swimming.During the cooler fall months, there is a woodstove that heats the cottage well (walls are also insulated)and lots of warm blankets for sleeping in the evenings. Wood is provided. Foliage is beautiful with lots of apple picking and hiking in the area in September and October.

Fall weeks and prorated days (4 nights) are available for September and October. Only one 'peak' summer week left - August 24 - 30th for 2013 season.

Area Information

The lake is 10 minutes from Sebago Lake and about a 45 minute drive to Portland, Maine, one hour to Freeport Maine, home of LLBean and lots of factory stores, and just 45 minutes from North Conway in the white mountains of New Hampshire. The quaint towns of Bridgton and Naples Maine are 15 minutes away with several good restaurants; blueberry picking is just a couple of miles from the cottage and there are two mountains for outdoor 'family' hikes.

THE best vacation on Peabody Pond in a lovely cottage with everything you need. A beautiful view of water, trees, and sky. So quiet and peaceful. Kayaking, swimming, walking, fishing, reading, loons, moose, and rainbows. So very relaxing to unplug for a week!

It was great to return for a third year--no anxiety because we knew the cottage would be clean and comfortable. It took us less than 10 minutes to unpack the food, grab our swimsuits and hit the beach. This is the perfect spot for reading and relaxing--and listening to calling loons. See you in 2011!

My husband and myself, along with another couple stayed for 3 nights in this cabin in Maine. It was a good time. We checked out an area disc golf course one of the days and kayaked and canoed on the pond one of the other days. We only got rain the last day. We watched the bats come out for their dusk feeding which was pretty amazing. My husband caught a fish. The scenery was beautiful, it was just what we needed.

A Perfect Getaway!

Thank you for allowing us to vacation in your cabin, we wish we did not have to leave. The cabin is fantastic and so comfortable. The outside surroundings are so nice, especially the beautiful foliage. We loved the kayaks,canoe and really enjoyed the sights and sounds of the loons. What a peaceful getaway. We look forward to visiting again next year!

Peace and quiet

After 9 days of workshops, I had a 3 day break in my schedule. The Murphy's cottage was the perfect spot for recharging my batteries. Cate gave me complete info on finding the place, running the wood stove, and other miscellany. A notebook of info about attractions in the area helped my choice of activities. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be staying here!

One of our favorite vacations!

We vacationed with four children (2 boys, ages 14 and 15, & 2 girls ages 9 & 11). We all the time of our lives! It was the perfect combination of relaxation, adventure, and fun! Although we enjoyed the area, our preference was to be at the cabin. The lake was beautiful, warm and quiet - kids LOVED the floating dock and the kyaks. We hiked on nearby trails, steamed Maine lobsters, & spent a day in Portland (only 1 hour away). The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed and more! We can't wait to go back!

Vacation trip for my parents

I rented the house for my parents for their anniversary. I talked to them everyday and they told me how great it was there. They enjoyed the peace and quiet and the wonderful view.
