Description of the Sebec vacation cottage rental

Built in 2003, this cozy lakefront cottage is a loft design (entire second floor is an open loft area that sleeps 6 comfortably). The cottage comes complete with a dock and two kayaks (the dock will hold a 20 ft + boat). It also has a screened in porch, watch gorgeous sunsets, smell the pine trees in the air, and listen to the call of loons. Peaks-Kenny State park is two miles away(nice beach). The public boat launch and marina that offers boat rentals and gas is one block away, town beach is a three block walk. Restaurants and grocery stores are only five miles away making this an awesome vacation location.
We also have other cottages available so please call if interested.

Area Description

Dover Foxcroft is the county seat of Piscataquis County and is located 45 miles northwest of Bangor. Our biggest natural attraction is Sebec Lake, a 6,800 acre lake that is 13 miles long and is bordered by four towns, Dover-Foxcroft, Sebec, Bowerbank and Willimantic. Peaks-Kenny State Park is located along the south shore of Sebec Lake. Fun day trips from this location are: shopping and tourist stuff = Bar Harbor (2 hours SW - popular tourist trap on the downeast coast, good seafood), Steamboat rides on Moosehead Lake (1 hour NW - the largest lake in Maine, awesome views, good selection of shops, you can ride on or bring your big boat but small boats not recommended on Moosehead), Hiking: Mt. Katahdin, located in Baxter State Park (1 hour NE - the Summit is one mile high, I would like to describe the view from the top, but I can only tell you that there are awesome views from about half way up, some day I will make it all the way (it is good excercise).

Sebec Lake is Awesome !, July 27, 2009
By Dany Dube (Bow, NH USA)
We had a great time. We went kayaking, boating, fishing. The camp had enough room to allow family to come over and spend one night with us. It made for a great time. It is really comfy and relaxing. This was our 2nd time at this camp.

Cozy camp with a great view, June 25, 2008
By Gary Perkins (Bar Harbor, Maine)
The camp is right on the lake with a great view. It is located just a block away from Tim Merrill's convenience store and boat rental. The public beach is within walking distance and the beach at Peaks Kenney State Park is only a mile or so away. It was just me and my brothers fishing, swimming and grilling. It was great. The upstairs loft gave us three good sized beds to sleep on with a nice breeze coming in off the lake. Very relaxing and highly recommended for those just wanting to get away and do some fishing on the great Sebec Lake. FYI - if you need cell phone reception you need to drive 10 minutes into town, Dover-Foxcroft, and call from there - isn't that why you want to go away in the first place?

My husband, granddaughters, and I, had a great time at this camp. I wish I had a net to catch the big fish swimming with me out by the buoy! The cottage was comfortable. The essentials were provided. Plenty of beds so we all had our own. The lack of drinking water from the faucet was a surprise, but one makes do. I loved the morning lake views and the evening calmness of the lake. Our first morning there, a lone loon went paddling by with an occasional call. So cool! I would have preferred to spend more time at the lake, but the vacation was mixed with other family obligations, so we couldn't just hang at the lake all day. I think all would enjoy staying at this cottage. Thank you to the Macombers and Joe, for a wonderful opportunity to live by a lake for a week.

Small but mighty!, August 27, 2007
By Kris Barron (Maine)
We rented this cottage in July of 2006 and enjoyed it immensely. The kids swam off the dock every day and we took many walks to Greeley's Landing, to the town beach and down the road to the "big lake". The sunsets were beautiful, as were the sunrises from the upstairs bedroom window. It did get hot upstairs and we did end up buying some fans but we would rent it again.

Great Time on the Lake, August 5, 2007
By Mark and Dany Dube (Bow, NH)
We wanted to share with everyone what a great time we had during our stay at this camp. My son learned to kayak for the 1st time (he is 13). We used the dock to tie off my husbands 19' boat. We even had fun during a lighting storm. We enjoyed playing cards and having family time.
