Simply said. We all loved the time at the Salt Pond Cottage. We stayed there for two weeks and had plenty of things to do. Candice and Peter are perfect hosts and had prepared the cottage for our arrival perfectly. It was just great.

Peaceful, spacious, airy, spotless, stylish, well-appointed, charming, beautiful, quiet, perfect, the most pleasant surprise -- we just LOVE Salt Pond Cottage and we think the owners who live nearby (in a good way) are lovely folks who helped tremendously with some advice and muffins but were otherwise respectful of our space. The view is amazing and a sportier family could make great use of the pond for kayaking/canoeing. Make NO mistake -- SPC (as we call it) is not rustic and it is certainly nothing like one of those motel cottages. It's a brand-new house with all the latest appliances and the owners thought of everything! The one cavaet that we know from experience is true of all of Maine is that you'll drive a lot. Maine is a big, mostly rural state and the attractions are spread out. Just know that going in and you'll be fine. Do not let that deter you from experiencing SPC, one of our top 5 vacations in 27 years of marriage. We brought our boys, 14 and 19, and they loved it as well. Peter and Candice set up the loft prior to our arrival for two twin beds (they give you that option) and the boys had plenty of room to spread out. The upper bedroom is technically a loft, but whoever occupies the loft has plenty of privacy. We would definitely stay here again and we hope that we will next summer. This beautiful house with it's postcard view is positively idyllic.
