Area Description

Sequim is a gateway to Olympic National Park, Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge (World's longest natural sand spit), and Victoria BC Canada. We are located in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley along the Strait of Juan de Fuca on Washington's beautiful North Olympic Peninsula. Sequim offers convenient lodging for visitors of Olympic National Park, Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge, and Victoria BC, Canada. Sequim is located in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains (more sun and less rain than anywhere else in western Washington!) and has less than 15-inches of rain per year compared to Seattle's 40-50 inches per year.

Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge and the surrounding landscapes are paradise for bird-watchers. The crest of the Dungeness Spit divides a protected inner harbor (Dungeness Bay) from the open waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. After crossing the strait from Canada, birds seek the spit for shelter and forage. Alcids, shorebirds, and waterfowl congregate along the spit while songbirds and raptors settle into the woods and onto the open fields of the refuge and recreation area above. More than 250 bird species have been recorded on the refuge, and more than 90 species have bred here.

Sequim's location provides for wonderful day trips (ferry ride) to Victoria BC and the Pacific Ocean beaches. Sequim is located between Port Angeles and Port Townsend, and is convenient for treks to Hurricane Ridge (Olympic National Park), Lake Cresent, beach walking on the Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge, downtown shops, golfing, the Olympic Game Farm (drive thru zoo), music festivals, wineries, lavender farms, fresh sea food restaurants, and the 7-Cedars Casino.

 Everything I expected, May 1, 2008
By Jon Boler (Puyallup, WA)
Great, great location; my family had so much fun and the weather was as advertised for Sequim. The house is not only a great beach house, it's very family friendly, but private and cozy at the same time. I wish I could have stayed longer.
Owner Supplied Testimonials
June 2007
Dear goodness, where do I start? We truely couldn't have hoped for a better house and location. Out the front door and steps from the deck is the beach where our grand kids played all day. Splendid views of Mount Baker, passing ships, and all kinds of lovely water birds. Out the back door are great views of the snow covered Olympic Mountains. We love this cozy home and feel bonded with it. We absolutely enjoyed the low tides and wading through the tide pools discovering all the wonderous little sea creatures. I'm sure we doubled our shell collection. We really do not want to leave this little corner of paradise. -San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA.

May 2007
A great time was had by all. The grandkids ages 2 and 4 spent all day on the beach collecting shells and building sand castles and flying kites. The kids from Seattle are already talking about coming back. We will be back also.

Lots of fun speculating what was in the various freighters going in and out of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Binoculars are a must. -Navato, CA and Maple Valley, WA.

April 2007
Loved the house - thank you so much for such a fabulous place to share with us! Hope to be back soon. -Seattle, WA.

April 2007
What a lovely restful 5 days we have had here. Our 3 kids ages 9, 6 and 4 just loved running and playing on the beach. We loved the big kitchen where even if I or my husband was cooking we never got in each others way. Surprisingly we spent more time at the house than sightseeing as our 2 boys just wanted to be digging in the sand. We did see the Olympic Game Farm and we loved that, but as soon as that was over they were nagging to get back here. We hope we can make another trip out next year. -Marysville, WA.

April 2007
We had a great time here. Very comfortable and cozy. We enjoyed the hot tub, the views, the.... It was a great long weekend getaway with our kids. It was a rough journey, but well worth it. We would love to come back again. Let us know about any canellations for the summer season. -Annapolis, MD and Sammamish, WA.

March 2007
We are having a second child in May and wanted a great place to spend with our four year old before the baby comes. We are so pleased! We are planning on spending today building a fort on the beach, playing games, and sitting in the hot tub. We really needed this getaway having opened a restaurant on Whidbey Island, in Langley, 8 months ago - my husband and daughter have not spent 2 solid, uninterrupted days together in over a year. Thanks for the great place!!! -Langley, WA.

Come see us on Whidbey! Prima Bistro

March 2007

February 2007
Had a great weekend on annual family retreat. Enjoyed hot tub and sunny weather a great deal. Treated ourselves to fresh crab and shrimp... mmmmm. Great beach cottage, we'll be back.

December 2006
Spent 3 nights here - just myself and my 12 year old son. We loved the time away. We headed over to the wildlife refuge and down at Dungeness Spit - so much fun! We saw deer up close and personal!!

The hot tub was great, listening to the waves and just letting your cares float away. Everything was clean and tidy. There was a wind storm last night so that was rather exciting. I want to come back in the summer with my whole family. Thank you so much. -Seattle, WA.

November 2006
The four of us had a wonderful time. It was calm and sunny when we first arrived and turned windy and stormy before we left. So we enjoyed a bit of it all! We especially loved the hot tub and watching the seagulls try to fly in the wind. Hope to come back again. -Edmonds and Lynnwood, WA.

September 2006
Awesome place! Rented 5 houses for a corporate retreate - bunch of high performance sales, operations team, and executive team. Just what the doctor ordered!
August 2006
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us. We're in town for a wedding at the "Cutting Gardens". What a beautiful property this is! Hopefully we'll be able to return, and will definitely refer our family and friends to you. -Seattle and Tacoma, WA.

August 2006
What a shame we missed the first two days of our holiday! We really enjoyed staying in your house and the Pacific Northwest. -Staffordshire, England

August 2006
A terrific site for an action packed week. Our kids - 11,10, and 9 could have played on the beach all day. Their observant parents also noticed river otters and seals. Mornings are perfect for gathering snails in the next lot over - if your kids enjoy that sort of thing. The house was immaculate when we arrived. We were pleased with all the books, games, and especially the ping pong table in the garage. The house is laid out so that we didn't feel packed in - even times we were all being lazy. We found plenty to do away from headquarters. Day trips to Hurricane Ridge and Port Townsend were fun - plan on the full day though. Hiking and shopping take a lot out of the body. We put in our boat at John Wayne Marina. Unfortunately, no crab to be had the days we went out, but enjoyed the view immensely. Other fun outings were the Audubon Nature Center, down town Sequim, the Olympic Game Farm, and Graymarsh Berry Farm. This house was super, but being with family and friends is what makes the times even more well spent.

August 2006
We had a great stay. We loved the thoughtful layout of the house, the information book and all the conveniences. The house was great for kids, adults, and grandparents alike. -NC, VT, NY, and OR

Thanks for sharing this beautiful house. Our family of four (6 year old boy and 4 year old girl) had a wonderful time. They were in swimming suits all day on the beach and the sand was HOT! At night, we can see lighthouses 180 degrees around us. What a great sight! We love the beach and the hot tub. Trips to Port Townsend, Marrowstone Island, and Hurricane Ridge were great memories as well. We visited again our favorite lighthouse - Point Wilson. What a great vacation!

July 2006
We LOVED our stay - perfect for the youngster (50) who came with the Grammie (76) and the Auntie (83). It was so relaxing to watch the water, the ships, the birds, and the submarine. We never did see that seal - and "note to self" - on the return visit I would bring a spotting scope for better view of the ships and critters. We enjoyed the Sequim Lavender Festival, a visit to the Hoh Rain Forest, and Neah Bay. It was all great. I hope to make a return trip soon and bring my kayak and kids. Thanks for letting us stay here. -Dillon, MT.

July 2006
A great place for a family with two young kids and their grandparents. The view from the kitchen window is our favorite. We had a short walk on the Dungeness Spit (our 2 year old thought it was too stinky) and spent a lovely morning at Jardin du Solice lavender farm. The lavender is so beautiful and made a lovely center piece. We wished we'd had binoculars for seal watching, but other than that found the accommodations great! A nice place to relax before heading to Port Townsend for a family reunion. Thank you! -Twin Cities, MN.

July 2006
We had a wonderful time here. Thank you so much for your great hospitality. -Richland, WA.

My family came to visit from Virginia. This was their first time to Washington and to the Olympic Peninsula. We had a fabulous time. The kids did not want to leave the house and go sightseeing. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the breath-taking views. Thank you for making our family vacation so special and memorable. We are looking forward to returning someday soon. -Olympia, WA.

July 2006
The minute we walked in we knew this house was perfect for all 6 of us. We've been here for 5 days but it seems like no time at all. We've walked up and down the beach, traveled to Port Townsend and Port Angeles (both very lovely places) and we did a little shopping around Sequim. We all have enjoyed the stay here and are sorry to leave. The view, the setting, and not to mention the hot tub, are unforgettable. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay here. -Montana, Oregon, Wyoming, South Carolina.

June 2006
We had a wonderful stay here. We brought along Grandma and also met some cousins from Wisconsin for a relaxing and enjoyable time. June 13 was the year's lowest tide -3 ft in Dungeness Bay and we must have walked out on the tidelands half a mile. Kids loved wandering through the tide pools looking at clams, small fish, crabs, snails, and even a small halibut - thanks for providing the mud boots and clamming shovels! We paddled in our kayak every afternoon either down to the Dungeness River or to Sequim Bay. We had great weather all week long. Last night we saw a sea otter right out in front of the house about 10 feet from shore - he didn't seem afraid of us at all. The kids had a great time flying kites and building drift wood forts on the beach. We even got in some Sequim yard sales on Friday and Saturday morning. Hot tubbing during the full moon was great. This place is simply beautiful and we can't wait to come back again. -Everett, WA.

May 2006
We'll be back! This house is perfect for us two families with kids that love the beach. We enjoyed our time to relax and take in the beautiful view! -Mill Creek, WA and Puyallup, WA.

May 2006
The person or persons who did the remodel of the kitchen did a wonderful job. What a difference. Charming and terrific to cook and eat in. -Sacramento, CA.

May 2006
We came from Bremerton, Twisp, Butte Montana, Rancho Cordova, CA, and two from Spanaway for our annual mother's day gathering. Mom and her girls go away for this special weekend every year to count and celebrate our many blessings. Two of us went to the Olympic Game Farm - it was great, we laughed and gawked there for hours. Two went to the Dungeness Spit and had a wonderful time. We all enjoyed the beach, the house and hot tub - slept like babies. The weather was fabulous and the sun shined on us like the blessings of the Lord which light our every days.

April 2006
What can we say? This weekend was awesome - God's beautiful world out the three grand picture windows. We took tours to most everything and enjoyed this fabulous house. It was well stocked with all you could need. The hot tub is wonderful. Would love to come again. God bless. -Auburn, WA.

April 2006
We had a great time on the beach - kids didn't want to do anything else. Weather was bright, sunny, and warm. We didn't go anywhere in Sequim except for groceries. Don't forget to bring your kites the lovely sand beach is perfect. Great views, waves, and beachwalks. Loved your kitchen and kids enjoyed the ping pong table in the garage. Definitely a repeat vacation spot. -Vancouver, WA.

March 2006
We had a wonderful time relaxing. We will come back. Walked on the beach and just looked out at the view.

March 2006
What a gorgeous view and comfortable house. So relaxing!

Great spot to reconnect with our teenage daughters over spring break. Hiked Dungeness Spit (need to come back to make it to the lighthouse next time). Explored tide pools at Salt Creek, did the Elwha River hike to Humes Ranch via Goblin Gate, fixed several fantastic dinners, played cards, watched funny DVDs, played ping pong, hot tub under the Big Dipper and shooting stars, watched a submarine travel by, walked up to the local grocery (she is open from ~ 8-8), found Olympic Ice Cream in Sequim, dreamed about growing lavender and organic vegetables in Sequim, read a lot, contemplated, walked the beach, took out the boat, rode a bike, started a list of birds and took some wonderful photos, hiked a 4 mile trail at Heart of the Hills through old growth until too many down trees blocked the trail, recharged our sleep batteries, explored Port Townsend, shopped in Port Angeles, looked out at the view (alot) - a vast vista indeed, enjoyed the fireplace, saw Mt Baker, jogged the quiet roads, and plan to ski at Hurricane Ridge today.

A lovely house, hope to come back soon, hard to leave.... -Olympia, WA.

March 2006
Thank you so much for the hospitality. We really enjoyed.
