Description of the Sequoia vacation home rental

This newly built (2005) charming home is located on 15 acres in the Dunlap foothills amongst a beautiful oak woodland. Skylights in the kitchen and living room give you a bright, cheerful atmosphere. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a soothing, romantic rose and green garden decor. The 2nd bedroom, the Woodland room, has 2 twin beds which also convert into a full bed and the 3rd bedroom, the Bluebird room, has a full bed. Linens and towels are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped. The living room with a picture window frames a vista view of the central valley cities, the coastal mountains at sunset and a breathtaking sight at night of the Milky Way and city lights. On the 4th of July, we watch the fireworks from afar in over 5 different cities! This is the place to sit and bring your binoculars and/or telescope to view the night stars.

In your front yard, a picnic table looks out over the city lights view. There is a BBQ on the side of the house, along with an outdoor breakfast table under the oaks, redbuds and elderberries overlooking the deer trail.

Roads and trails meander amongst the 15 acres revealing lovely, shady spots with granite boulders to sit upon in restful contemplation.

Foothill bird watching offers a host of different species not found in the city... California quail, turkey vultures, red-tail hawks, acorn woodpeckers and various towhees are just a few of the daily visitors. Deer and rabbits usually stop by to nibble the flowers.

It is our pleasure to offer this unique foothill experience for you. We love and care about this area and look forward to providing a restful, memorable vacation. Be the first to stay in this brand new home and see for yourself why this area is so dear to us.

Area Description

On your drive up you will be traveling on the Blossom Trail which highlights the fruit trees of the Central Valley in full bloom from March to May.

Located 15 minutes away:
The town of Squaw Valley with Hummingbird Restaurant serving good, country food; Bear Mountain Pizza; two small, quick-stop, gas/food mart/grocery stores,; a library; feed store, hardware store, car repair garage. Squaw Valley hosts a variety of small, country events such as a: Mule Show in May, Garden Tours in the summer, a rodeo in May and various other festivals such as the Turkey Testicle festival and a Crafts & Art Fair in October. The Endangered Cat Haven, fighting to save endangered wild cats, and an Herb Garden offer unusual tours in this unique foothill habitat.

Located 20 minutes away:
For water lovers, Pine Flat Dam with water-skiing, fishing, boating and swimming is a refreshing stop. We have even enjoyed sailing on the lake in our small 19 foot ODay sailboat.

Avocado Lake near Pine Flat is a small lake perfect for children to wade in and practice their swimming. The Kings River flows in this same area offers more fishing holes and picnicking along its banks. Spend the afternoon golfing at the Sherwood Forest Golf Club. There are wine tasting tours along the Blossom Trail as well.

Located 30 minutes away:
Kings Canyon National Park, breathtaking in its views of the great Continental Divide and many of the oldest redwoods in California; including the largest living tree, General Sherman. Other activities include crosscountry skiing and hiking in what is known as "Little Yosemite" Cedar Groves. Our rental fees are 50% less than staying in the hotels there; so you can enjoy the park and then come to your own comfortable home in the foothills.

Located 45 minutes - 60 minutes away:
Sequoia National Forest, the other half of our Kings Canyon Park. In the summer you can travel up through Kings Canyon Park into Sequoia National Park; in the winter you have to go around through Visalia and Three Rivers to reach the Sequoia Park.

Cities: Visalia, Fresno, Tulare all with their own special spots and events to explore. We will fill you in on those special restaurants, antique shops, a great zoo, parks and many fun events in these cities.
