If you haven't been to this property you need to the owners are the nicest people. We got lost on the way they stayed on the phone with me and my son until we both arrived. The picture don't do this place justice. It is breathe taking loved everything about this place. It was very relaxing for me and my family the snow made it even better my kids had a ball. the river behind the house was a beautiful view in the morning. This is one place I will revisit again.

I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful place. The fantastic porches overlooking the river offered great place to eat, play cards and just relax. Fishing, kayaking, playing in the river, campfire with smores, watching the fireflies light up the night were just a few of the things we enjoyed while here. The house is spacious and comfortable and the decor upscale and lovely. The owner has obviously put much thought and care into the furniture, bedding and other choices in this home. Feels very much like visiting a well cared for home instead of a weekend rental house. We all (my children included) caught fish after fish (small to medium size) which was so much fun. We made some truly amazing memories here. I highly recommend this property. We will most definately be back again!

The house is situated on a great piece of land. Very private, beautiful views, and furnished like its your own home. I cannot say enough positive things about the overall experience. My three kids had a blast fishing, hiking, and horseback riding! We will certainly come back again.

The pictures are exact. The owner was very prompt in her responses to any questions asked. The location is remote but close to the expressway. The house looks down onto the river and is near a horse farm. If you have a large family this house is perfect. Wish we had more time to spend there.

My husband and I honeymooned in this beautiful home right on the Shenandoah. It was very large and comfortable. We enjoyed building a fire in the fireplace at night, cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, kayaking on the river, and antiquing in the neighboring towns. The setting is peaceful and pretty, and there is plenty of places to hike or walk. We had a few issues, and the owner immediately contacted us and addressed them. We appreciated the attentiveness. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable honeymoon!

This beautiful home sits right on the Shenandoah River with two level of porches facing the river, another looking out on the front spacious lawn and wooded surrounding. Equipped with everything you could possibly need to kyak, tube, hike , explore or relax inside the spacious home. Nestled between the woods, river and horseback riding estate it was the best vacation spot for our family. Nearby charming towns along the Shenandoah Valley! Breathe taking views, bot loads of fun! Can't wait to return.

A wonderful family vacation

From the moment we arrived, we knew we’d come back for another vacation. The house was beautiful! It had an open design for the living room and kitchen which made it easy for everyone to be together all the time. It was nicely decorated and had little touches everywhere. There were kayaks available, which we used in the river located near the house. The house is tucked away, nestled into the trees, but the highway was also very accessible so we didn’t feel like we had to drive very far to hit some of the local shops or tourist attractions. The neighboring farm has horse trail rides, and the owners made us feel like extended family. It was the perfect, quiet get-away and I highly recommend this location for anyone wanting to get away from it all and breathe in some fresh air!

We took a shot on this house not only never having seen the property, but also never having been in the Shenandoah area, and we couldn't have been happier. Both the house and the location are beautiful. You'll have all the seclusion you want while lounging on the back deck, but it's just a short drive to the beautiful town of Winchester with nice downtown shopping, restaurants and awesome period architecture. We highly recommend for anyone looking for a country get-a-way.

We spent 3 nights at this home and were very happy with our choice. The house is very close to new, with beautiful, comfortable furniture and all amenities. It was quite warm during our visit and it was nice to arrive at a cool house as the air conditioning had already been turned on! We ate most of our meals at the house and enjoyed time out on the back deck as well as an early morning kayak trip in the Shenandoah River, literally right behind the house. We would definitely book this house again if we are ever in the area. We visited the Luray Caverns and spent a day hiking in the Shenandoah National Park. Both are conveniently located near this house.

Wow, what an incredible house! Our two kids originally were just going with my parents for the week and my wife and I were to stay a couple of days - thankfully we stayed five days and had a blast. The house is beautifully decorated, kayaks provided, and the scenery is gorgeous. We had s'mores one evening with the firepit out in the front yard and played all sorts of games indoors and out. And did I mention the kayaks:)? I fished the entire time and caught many smallmouth bass and sunfish while the kids went after crayfish! And we were thrilled to see river otters as well! Many thanks to Joan and her hospitality - that was a great way to end the summer!

This was our first time staying in The Shenandoah. The house was spacious and fanstastic! A total of six adults and six children (ages from 5 months to 8 years old) stayed at the house. The kids were instantly excited about the river, fishing, kayaking, tubing, open field to play, camp fire/roasting marshmellows, etc. We'd setup a tent for them too! The current on the river was slow; I wish it was a little faster - but we had a great time kayaking/tubing nonetheless. Fishing was exciting b/c each (older) kid caught at least one fish! Thanks for a lovely house and a peaceful getaway!

Riverfront Home - Truly Wonderful!

This home is wonderful! The home is clean, spacious, and has wonderful views of the Shenandoah. The kayaks were a real treat, as were the tubes. We saw plenty of deer every day in the fields surrounding the home, as well as "whistle pigs", otters, turtles, and, if you like fishing, you will love this location. We caught more fish than you could count - every day - all day long! We found that kayaking up-river first and floating back down worked best. There are a few small rapids that were enjoyable and the scenery was unbeatable; not to mention the solitude - we saw exactly 5 other people all week. Thank you, Joan, for your hospitality! We will definitely be back.

We recently stayed at this cabin and found it to be extremely comfortable, clean, cozy and nicely arranged. We had everything we needed for a great getaway! The hot tub was very much enjoyed. We would love to stay in this cabin once again.

It is like I told Joan after I got there, "you can not have it back!!" It is a beautiful home with everything you need, including relaxation that you didn't know existed! The quiet, the birds, the porches, the river, the kayaking! Everything!! Joan was so eager to do anything we needed to make our stay great and was more that grateful for any comments to help make it better for the next person. She bent over backwards to help me and my family to have a wonderful time during my son's graduation. She is a gracious host. Though I was a little leary of it being a little far away from Harrisonburg, we got there in no time, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I WILL BE BACK, it was great!! Thanks, Joan. We stayed here at the beginning of November to be alone in a quiet and beautiful setting. It was amazing! The home is beautiful, comfortable and tucked in the middle of a forest and mountains! It was the perfect quiet getaway we were looking for. Will definitely return!!!!!

My friends and I had a wonderful experience staying here. The scenery was gorgeous: the leaves were changing, and the house is perched right above the river. The arrangements were perfect for three couples (and one baby). The great room was a terrific place for all of us to spend time together cooking, talking and just hanging out. We all commented on how thoughtfully put-together the home was: everything we could possibly want was there, and the house itself was beautifully furnished. In addition, the owner was very gracious and prompt in returning my emails. We've stayed at several homes in the past, but this is one that we definitely plan to revisit!

It seems like the other reviewers were here for an outdoor adventure. My husband and I went for some time away from it all. The house was fantastic - very homey, and almost everything in it seemed new. The owner is incredibly nice to work with, and it was great just to get away from it all. Being right on the river, right at the foot of a mountain was excellent. We enjoyed the kayaks, relaxing on the THREE porches (two overlooking the river), hiking up the mountain, and just enjoying the beautifully furnished house. Would definitely recommend.

This rental truly is a remarkable gem! Nestled against the backdrop of the Shenandoah Mountains, and shaded on the bank of the clear Shenandoah River sits this beautiful quaint rental house. The home has 2 fireplaces, 3 bedrooms with queen and King beds, two bathrooms with high-end stone tile, gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, 2 level decks that over look the river right from your backyard. You can grill, have a campfire cook out with provided fire ring, and then sit in luxury in this finely decorated home. Wood floors, and a French Provencal/ English Country style through out the home that will make you feel you are staying a Better Home and Gardens magazine ad. Amazing! Go fishing in the river as we caught fish as we threw in our lines, kayaks provided, everything you need for an amazing get away. Style, comfort and luxury in the country. Wow, this is no overpriced shack in the woods, this is an amazing stay. My boys and I had a blast, and the owner is awesom
