Description of the Siena vacation apartment rental

Il Podesta is a two-bedroom apartment on the ground floor of a beautiful stone house in the small medieval village of Pari. It has recently been restored to reveal original terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. There is a kitchen sitting area with fireplace, two bedrooms and bathroom with shower.
Behind the house, 15m away, is an outdoor seating area in a quiet south facing garden with magnificent views across the Ombrone Valley and Monte Amiata beyond.

Area Description

Pari is a small, unspoilt, medieval village in Southern Tuscany, perched on a hilltop. Given its proximity to the Siena-Grosseto highway, Pari is a surprisingly little-known place, so far undiscovered by the tourist guides and yet worthy of a visit if only to enjoy the slow pace of quiet Tuscan village life that wakes up several times a year for its sausage festival and various open air dinners and cultural events.Visitors are also attracted by the promise of a good meal at the restaurant in the square after a session at the nearby Petriolo thermal springs or a day's walking or cycling in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Facilities are few - there is a grocery store, a bar and two restaurants, but banks, shops and a chemist are only 15 minutes away in the pretty town of Paganico.

This is the Alta Maremma - a largely protected area of nature reserves, rivers and extensive woodland. There is no industry here, a scarcely populated area that has traditionally survived on agriculture. Olive groves are widespread and vineyards increasingly gaining importance since the recognition of Montecucco DOC wine status in 2000. Despite its rural location, Pari is only 35 minutes from Siena. The Tuscan coast - Castiglione della Pescaia, Alberese - Montalcino and the Val d'Orcia, Massa Marittima, and Monte Amiata can all be reached within an hour's drive.
