We stayed for a week, and found the cabin to be clean and modern. It is situated in a beautiful remote area with waterfalls, boulders and a large lake. You can drive to the Red River Gourge and Natural Bridge State park in minutes. Highly recommended!

Elk Havin cabin in Slade was nice, had many wasps inside that frightened children constantly. Not a lot to do in area other than hiking, weather was terrible so that wasn't possible. Day before we left we did laundry to take care of muddy clothes before going home. Water began sputtering, assumed it just needed to refill tank of some sort but this never happened. Next day, still had almost no water. Notified rental agents at 9:30 that morning, they responded that they would let the owners know. In other words, they didn't care that we spent the last 18 hours of our stay with no water. Pretty unacceptable at those prices.

My husband and I stayed at this cabin for our 5th anniversary and it was perfect! The cabin is the last one on the road so it is very secluded and even had its own seasonal waterfall. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. What made our stay even more perfect was the fact that we could bring our dog with us. She got to go hiking and everything.
The cabin was a great find! Everything we had hoped for and more, secluded, beautiful carvings, nicely decorated and very clean. We pampered ourselves with bath crystals, soy candles, goat milk soap and hand crafted quilts. The music stations were abundent. Many extras including treats for Fido.
