Romantic mountaintop cottage in the wine country (#41728)

What dreams may come - how can we even begin to describe this place of dreams coming true? Beauty, symmetry, and elegance - simplicity, luxury & other worldliness... there is nothing to compare in our minds to this place in the Mayacamas.. out honeymoon was spent under the crescent of Clair's sweet moonlight... we hope to spend at least a weekend a year coming back to refresh our hearts, minds and spirits...

Relaxing, Rejuvenating & Therapeutic!
At home we are constantly reminded of time. There are clocks on our walls, computers, microwave, DVD players, ovens, etc. Here, one tiny unassuming clock there of you to refer to or ignore. Of course we chose to ignore it entirely and it was wonderful. One day here at Clair can do more for you than a week at another location. No schedules, just relaxing eating bathing, hiking, reading, sleeping. What more can you ask for in a true getaway. This was by far one of the best vacations for us! Thank you!

Wow dozed off again as I sat down on the bed to write. I think that the utter tranquility afforded by this place was the key to its simple charms. Clair de Sol? Darkness surrounds Clair ~ moonlight dapples verdant oak deafening silence. We arrive just before midnight, soon after reaching the open fields of upper Los Alamos Road, a doe and a fawn greet us, then joined by a second doe. They take their leave then a jack rabbit jumps over the road. As we marvel at this impromptu and delightful reception, a brace of small furry creatures, perhaps a foot or so high enter from the lower shoulder of the read and trot along before us. We are escorted for perhaps twenty of thirty yards... (being from Hawaii we take them to be foxes, although a bit small and light) from talking to Carolyn we realize that these were coyote pups!

What a wonderful place to steal away for the weekend to enjoy the beauty of nature and the beauty of being together! We loved the morning showers out among the trees and the evening soaks in the Jacuzzi. The weather was perfect with plue sky and sunshine the whole time! Even saw an almost full moon through the skylight last night! Now we join the ranks of all those who came before us that say they will keep Clair in their memories forever! She is one grand dame!! Magnificent! The circling shadows of Turkey vultures, whispering breeze, colophony of birds, crickets & stream and peaceful calm were almost too much to comprehend in two days. Our highlights included John Ash & Co. and the turkey vulture meeting us at its nest in the hollowed out tree near the waterfall...

I guess we join the scores of folks who sing the praises of Clair de Lune. We are honored to be counted among the enlightened! We were caught in the "ants marching" syndrome of city livein. Nicholas dealing with the bureaucracy of federal government politicking and I with the oppressive stress of the not-yet-forgotten Maryland bar exam. Somehow, however, we were able to connect with Clair and her welcoming owners all the way from Baltimore. We knew it was what we needed so we flew across the country to what we were certain would be paradise. We were not disappointed. Rather we were elated. Thank you for reminding us that the space we fill - the jobs we perform should reflect this peace. Clair and both of you have reminded us to seek out the joy that should greet us each morning and allow us to rise with anticipation of what the day has in store for us.
