Description of the South Lake vacation cottage rental

The VP East cottage is located at the eastern end of our 12 acre property with 650 feet of water frontage on South Lake, a beautiful salt water lagoon adjacent to 3 miles of spectacular white sand dunes and ocean beach.

The main room on the first floor of VP East is an open dining/living area equipped with dining table and chairs as well as a medley of living room furnishings. Adjacent to the main room is a kitchen alcove equipped with sink, gas stove, gas fridge, and cooking/dining utensils. Leading from the main room through a set of french doors there is a screened porch equipped with deck chairs and a table.

The second floor contains 2 small bedrooms; one with a queen bed and the other with 2 single beds. There is also a small bathroom with tub and sink. Linens and towels are provided.

There is an enclosed outdoor shower attached to the side of the cottage and in a nearby detached outbuilding there is a composting-type toilet facility.

Lighting is provided by a solar electric system, which is 12 Volt DC. Being the common voltage used in autombobiles and boats, 12VDC is easily adaptable to running many portable devices such as CD players, laptop computers, small DC TVs, etc (which are not provided).

A canoe for exploring the lake and the dune beach is moored close to the shallow shore near the waterfront side of the cabin. The lake and canoe are accessed via a stairway off the elevated waterside deck and picnic area. The warm, shallow water at the lake shore is especially inviting and safe for children, and the water of the ocean dune beach is renowned for being the warmest water north of Cape Cod.

VP East is suitable for 1-2 adults plus 1-2 children, or a maximum of 2 couples.

Area Description

The town of South Lake is at the eastern end of PEI just southwest of East Point. This area is well known for having some of the best beaches on the island. Besides wonderful beaches this area offers great biking with little traffic, beautiful scenery, and an extensive bicycle trail that runs the whole length of the island. And, if you're a golfer, there are several world class golf courses within easy driving distance. The property is about 2 miles from the general store in Bothwell, and it is about a 15-20 minute drive to Souris which has a complete range of facilities....supermarkets, banks, restaurants, etc.
