Description of the South Thomaston vacation cottage rental
A wonderful large cottage on the ocean’s edge with panoramic views. Drink your morning coffee watching the sunrise on the expansive oceanfront deck. Spend your days exploring sea life among the rocks, watching the seals and seabirds, walking in the woods, or watching the lobster boats out front. Bring your kayak to launch from our small pebble beach right in front. The clear night sky is filled with stars close enough to touch! Fall asleep listening to the water lap at the shore. Antiquing, fine dining, museums, hiking and golf are just a sample of many ways to spend the day - if you can tear yourself away.
The main level has an open concept kitchen, dining and living room. There is also a full bathroom and laundry area. The cottage has three bedrooms and 1 3/4 bathrooms. The large master bedroom on the main level has a king-sized bed and overlooks the ocean. Upstairs you’ll find two more bedrooms, one with a view of the woods and bunk beds, the other with a queen bed and a wonderful ocean view. This cottage is fully outfitted, linens, towels, including a dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer, and fireplace. We also provide cable television, DVD player and wireless internet access.

Columbus Weekend Getaway
October 14, 2013
There was no better place to be spending the Columbus Day weekend than at The Lighthouse in Thomaston. The air was brisk, but the cottage was warm and cozy when we arrived, thanks to a wonderful (and romantic) gas fireplace. We knew the cottage was supposed to be near the water, but it was only when the sun rose the next morning that we discovered we were only a couple of feet from the ocean. We drank our coffee in bed while watching the osprey, ducks and gulls play right outside our window. Once up, we moved to the deck and continued to take in the nonstop show of bird life, lobstermen, and the occasional seal. And right below our deck were the steps down to our very own private sandy beach! The cottage had everything we needed: a well supplied kitchen, hot shower, comfortable bed, and amazing view. The many extras, such as flat screen tv, games, and books made the place feel very homey. The owners were incredibly nice, and even though they were much older than we are, they were very cool to talk to, and they had lots of great ideas about what to do in the area. My only complaint was that we didn't have enough time at the Lighthouse! We definitely will be back!
Wow, thank you for the wonderful review...I only have one issue of concern....
The owners .... much older? UMMMMMMMMmmmmm! :)
Love to have you back any time.
It was a great visit and wonderful weather! We all lucked out!
Mayber Happy Hour should be on the deck next time!
We will be watching for your return...

We had a most wonderful experience with our stay at Island View Light House Cottage. We were fortunate in that the weather was perfect but the accomodations would have made the stay great anyway. The innkeepers were so friendly and lived in a cottage nearby which made any requests answered very quickly. Paul and Patty were so helpful with restaurant and other recommendations. The location is near Rockland and Camden both of which have good restaurants and activities. Great for 2 couples or a family with kids. We would definitely recommend and come back ourselves. This location makes a great homebase for visiting all of the mid coast area. We woke to beautiful sunrises off the deck and lovely afternoons watching the lobster fishermen checking traps and an eagle circling nearby. Locations is only a few steps down to the ocean. The pictures accurately depict property.
We are so glad you enjoyed your time in Maine. It was a pleasure to finally meet you. I hope our paths will cross in GA, Too! Sorry about the Gov. Shut down...really makes us think when it will change our vacation plans!
Take care and I hope we see you in GA and ME!

Chris and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lighthouse Cottage. The cottage was fully stocked with everything we needed in terms of cooking and kitchen utensils. Chris and I had a couple of lobster and steamer feasts sitting out on the deck overlooking the water. The location of the cottage was great as well. We were able to quickly get to Rockland and Port Clyde for some adventures. Waterman's Lobster Shack is also only a 1/2 mile away and was super yummy! We also brought our dog Gracie and the cottage was set up perfectly for her as well. We did not need to worry about her messing anything up as the cottage is set up to be very user friendly and easy to sweep up the sand. She, as well as us, really enjoyed the beach. Gracie was brave enough to swim while we watched! I highly recommend the cottage. We had a great stay, Patty is great, and we look forward to coming back.
Paradise in Maine

This was our family's second visit to this wonderful home and we are already booked to come back next year! Incredibly gracious and friendly hosts, Patty and Paul will personalize your vacation. Pet friendly, oh boy is this home pet friendly! Rusty (our Lab) was treated like a member of the family. With the ocean right out of the back door, we kayak right from the property's own beach! Eagle and osprey watching, lobster boats humming in the morning greet you at breakfast, peaceful and so quiet at night! It is so relaxing, you can find it difficult to want to leave the home and explore. But when you do, the home is perfectly and conveniently located in the middle of the Maine coast. It is Maine, it is paradise.

We spent the month of June at the Lighthouse cottage owned by Patty and Paul. What a wonderful time we had - such a comfortable home away from home with a view that cannot be beat. We awoke to beautiful sunrises with fascinating sightings of eagles, osprey, great blue herons, and even the occasional seal. Looking out onto the island dotted Penobscot Bay was always a joy. Patty and Paul were friendly and wonderful hosts offering helpful suggestions - and we loved their dogs, Khloe and Mollie - who happily greeted us each day. The Cottage is conveniently located for many excursions - Rockland, Camden and Port Clyde are close by, offering boat trips, hiking, kayak and bike rentals, wonderful restaurants, fabulous seafood from local fishermen and so much more. There are even three lighthouses within a short distance. And a visit to Monhegan Island or Vinalhaven is a special treat. And if we did not want to go anywhere, the cottage was a great place to stay and relax with a good book. Looking forward to returning to the Lighthouse.
Rick and Kathleen,
Thank you. We enjoyed having you with us during the month of June. It was always nice to know you were only a cottage away.
My garden has grown and my zucchini did live after all! I have had to harvest them and give a couple away. Plant by number works!!!!
We look forward to your return to Island View Cottage.

Couldn't have asked for more. The house is lovely- open, spacious, comfortable, well equipped. The property projects out into the cove, giving a feeling of privacy. I'm not an early riser, but the deck overlooking the ocean, surrounded by trees, made it irresistible to get out of the huge bed with its fluffy duvet and enjoy sunrise and coffee while listening to the loons. In the evening, the gas fireplace was charming (and warm). In between, there was the sandy beach down a few steps (yes, we went wading and collecting shells and beach glass there, even in late October). The area is great to explore- hiking, antiques, museums, ferry trip (saw dolphins and seals, even in the off season)- only wish we had more time. Patty is a generous, informative, non-intrusive host, with charming dogs. When there was a small problem with one of the 2 showers, she had it repaired within hours. I had been slightly hesitant to rent a place I had never seen; I am SO glad we did. From the first glimpse of the moss lined walkway with its soft lighting and the ocean views through the glass-lined front walls, to last minute beach combing before departure, it was awesome. We hope to stay there again soon, and highly recommend the property, owner, and area (and the dogs!)
We loved having you visit. It was a wonderful week, plus the weather couldn't have been better.
We are so happy that you had a chance to explore and relax.
The dogs did very well on the trip home and we are still working on the "training". Never ending job.
We look forward to your return. Come back soon.

We had a wonderful time! The lighthouse cottage was beautiful. Patty and Paul were very friendly and offered many suggestions on places to see while we were in Maine. The ocean was so close and we enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the ocean and drinking our coffee. We would highly recommend this property!
Connie and Keith,
It was a pleasure having you stay in our cottage. The Lighthouse Cottage is getting a new roof today!
I'm glad you enjoyed your week and we look forward to your return.
I am having my coffee now looking over the ocean on a beautiful, sunny morning in Maine. Quite relaxing.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Lighthouse Cottage.
Have a wonderful upcoming Holiday Season.

We anticipated this vacation for so long and it was well worth the wait! The cottage was exactly as advertised and the owners were friendly and helpful. We had beautiful weather and found great food and things to do very close by. We were very sad to leave and are hoping to be able to come back again next year.
Most amazing view - just what we wanted

If you are looking for a great place to relax and enjoy the Maine coast line - you simply can't beat this lovely cottage. The only reason it missed getting 5 stars is (we would have liked air conditioning and better wifi) ...but that is so miner compared to all the other lovely aspects. We will come back...need i say more?
Thank you so much for the nice review. You were so lucky to be here during the 11 nights of humid weather. So, my dad always told us. We had some very unusual warm weather during your stay.
The WiFi can be a tricky item near the ocean. We will see what we can do to boost the signal.
Again, thank you for taking the time to review our property. Hope to see you in the future.
