The "Gray Cottage"
A wonderful large cottage on the ocean’s edge with panoramic views. Drink your morning coffee watching the sunrise on the oceanfront deck. Spend your days exploring sea life among the rocks, watching the seals and seabirds, walking in the woods, or watching the lobster boats out front. Bring your kayak to launch from our small pebble beach right in front. The clear night sky is filled with stars close enough to touch. Fall asleep listening to the water lap at the shore. Antiquing, fine dining, museums, hiking and golf are just a sample of many ways to spend the day - if you can tear yourself away.

The cottage has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The master bedroom on the main level has a king-sized bed and a view of the woods. Upstairs you’ll find two more bedrooms, one with a wonderful ocean view and a king-sized bed, the other with twin beds overlooking the woods. This cottage is fully outfitted, including a dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer, and fireplace.

Area Information

Spruce Head is a small lobster-fishing village on Penobscot Bay in midcoast Maine. The nearest city is Rockland, about ten minutes away. There is a small airport in Owls Head with commercial flights to Boston and facilities for private aircraft. Nearby Thomaston, Rockport and Camden are beautiful towns with small shops and galleries. Lighthouses, museums, restaurants, art galleries, numerous summer festivals, hiking, fishing, shopping, day cruises and more are all available within a half-hour drive. And of course, there is lobster to eat everywhere. Or, even better, buy it fresh and bring it back to enjoy on your own deck, taking in the view.

Wonderful vacation at the Gray Cottage

This was our second year, vacationing at the Gray Cottage. It just can't get any better than this! The views are spectacular! The sunrises are beautiful. We were lucky enough to be there when the moon was full. It was beautiful to see the moon reflecting on the water..like a postcard photo. We love watching the Ospreys that come everyday and fish right in front of the cottage. They have a nest close by so we could see them feed the babies. We are able to bring our dogs too, which is great for us. The "take out" lobster pound is only a half mile away so you can call in your order and have lobster at the cottage while you enjoy the view. It's just a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the beauty of Maine.

What a realxing vacation

July 23, 2012

This was a great experience. Lots of space in and around the house, beautiful surroundings, quiet mornings watching the sunrise from the deck with coffee. The house is great, has everything you need. neighbors and owners are really nice and helpful. We even got to eat fresh lobsters, what a treat. We can only recommend this place. We will go back for sure. Swimming was good for us, a little chilly but no problem. The town is close to go for movies, ice cream and souvenir shopping. The week just pasted to quickly. Proce is fair for what you get.

Great Place

House is charming. Fully equipped; you really only need to bring food. Great for a family. View is spectacular. Location is perfect. Far enough away from it all but close enough to good lobster places (Miller's is 5 minutes away) and towns (Rockland is 10 minutes away, Camden is 30 minutes away) Only drawback is that the house is one of several on the property, all of which are located beside each other along the shore. However, the way in which they are set up, you still have privacy.
