Reviews for this vacation cottage rental in South Thomaston, Maine
very nice spot on the rocky Maine coast
September 18, 2014
The house is right on the rocky shore of a quiet bay, with a lovely island view. We enjoyed watching local lobstermen tending their traps and a few sailboats in the bay...even a couple of container ships and a large fishing vessel way out past the closer islands. (You need binoculars for this.) We managed to hit several of the wonderful local eateries, though their hours were somewhat limited during our September vacation; most seem to be closing at the end of the month. We shared the cottage with another couple and found that it worked well. The first floor bedroom is obviously the prize spot, and whoever is lucky enough to get it can watch the moon and the sunrise over the water right from their bed. Lots of "touristy" things are within a comfortable drive. We did a few of them, but were mostly happy staying put. Except, of course for going out for lobstah, clams, and more lobstah.

Work:Rivendell Interstate School District, Orford, NH
About:My brothers, sister and I grew up spending summers in Spruce Head. Two of my brothers settled in the local area, becoming lobster fishermen. Although I live in a lovely Vermont village where I work as a school administrator, my heart is still on the ocean where I spend as much time as possible....
