My husband and I just got back from two weeks at Starboard Cottage and already can't wait for next year!
The view is incomparable - gorgeous no matter the weather. The cabin is tidy and cozy, with an electric fireplace (which came in handy in May!), all the necessaries in the kitchen, puzzles for rainy days, and fabulous double sliding doors that give you a full wall of ocean view.
Patty and Paul are delightful! They're friendly and welcoming, but also gave us plenty of space and made us feel right at home.
We brought our two dogs, who loved running on the beach and hiking in nearby Camden Hills State Park. Being able to bring the dogs was so lovely and made our stay that much more homey and cozy.
South Thomaston, Owl's Head, Rockland, and Camden have a lot to offer in terms of restaurants, activities, and lovely spots to check out. But the cottage is so special, it's hard to find the motivation to leave for the day.
This is a perfect spot for a vacation. I almost don't want to post this review because I don't want to compete with other people for time next year!

This 2500 sq. ft. garrison house sits at the end of a cove which affords warm water (a rarity in Maine) on 180 feet on the St. George River. There is no beach however. It also sits at the end of a private cul- de- sak on a private road in the bucolic town of South Thomaston.
I recently spent a week at this house in South Thomaston Maine. The house was beautiful, well supplied and located at the end of a private drive making it very peaceful and serene. My two younger sisters and their families stayed with my husband and I and were quite pleased also. The house was big enough for all of us to visit and enjoy each other's company but also have a little privacy when we needed it. I would definitely recommend this as an ideal vacation spot.

Fantastic location for exploring the local area and as a home base for visiting Lighthouses along the shore. The view from the deck is spectacular and the comfort and amenities of Lighthouse Cottage...well, perfection. We felt at home in the cozy atmosphere and look forward to returning.
The "Gray Cottage"
A wonderful large cottage on the ocean’s edge with panoramic views. Drink your morning coffee watching the sunrise on the oceanfront deck. Spend your days exploring sea life among the rocks, watching the seals and seabirds, walking in the woods, or watching...
What a beautiful location. We stayed in the Gray Cottage for the week after Labor Day Weekend and found it very clean, fully equipped and with great bayside views. Waking early to watch the sunrise off the deck with morning coffee was especially enjoyable as was the rest of the Sprucehead Island, Rockland and Port Clyde area. The Baines family was very hospitable and made sure we were satisfied with the accommodations. A week goes by pretty quick and we wished that we could have stayed for two!
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation getaway and loves being on the ocean's edge.
Jan and Bob - thank you!
This large oceanfront home is perfect for your Maine vacation. It includes two master bedroom suites with king- sized beds and full bathrooms with showers. One of these suites is on the main level and is handicapped accessible. The other is upstairs and also has a king and full bath...
The house is right on the rocky shore of a quiet bay, with a lovely island view. We enjoyed watching local lobstermen tending their traps and a few sailboats in the bay...even a couple of container ships and a large fishing vessel way out past the closer islands. (You need binoculars for this.) We managed to hit several of the wonderful local eateries, though their hours were somewhat limited during our September vacation; most seem to be closing at the end of the month. We shared the cottage with another couple and found that it worked well. The first floor bedroom is obviously the prize spot, and whoever is lucky enough to get it can watch the moon and the sunrise over the water right from their bed. Lots of "touristy" things are within a comfortable drive. We did a few of them, but were mostly happy staying put. Except, of course for going out for lobstah, clams, and more lobstah.
Breathtaking ocean views, plenty of room and privacy both inside and outside. This spacious three bedroom, two bath cottage has a open plan and spectacular views. It was recently renovated and could be your dream getaway. The house has a large lawn, pretty little rock gardens, ...
