Description of the Southampton vacation home rental

Set high on a rolling hill on an acre and half corner lot, this Post-Modern Victorian house accommodates both families and large groups.

Located in the Shinnecock Hills section of Southampton, you're literally right in the middle of the Hamptons. Best of all, you do not sit in one lane traffic going further out east because our house is SOUTH of the HIGHWAY or the beach-side vs. NORTH of the HIGHWAY or the bay-side.

The property is located in a unique location with a long front driveway and a back driveway on a dead-end road with only 4 other house. Our closest neighbors are all below us because we're on top of the hill. Plus, the entire property is fenced in, providing additional security. Finally, the lot across the street is empty, so you have even more privacy.

Due to its unique design, there are 4 bedrooms upstairs and 3 bedrooms downstairs in the back area of the home. You can have adults upstairs and the kids or seniors on the main floor.
All bedrooms have door locks, full-length mirrors, central air, ceiling fans, make-up mirrors and block-out shades. The bedroom lay-out is as follows:

TOP FLOOR

Master Suite: has a Jacuzzi, private shower, sink area, walk-in closet, a Queen-size bed and 2 single beds.

Teal bedroom: has a full-size bed and a single bed.

Yellow bedroom: has 3-single beds.

Pink Suite: has a private door to a full bath with a tub and 3 single beds.

Green Bathroom: is a full bath with a tub.

BOTTOM FLOOR

Mustard Bedroom: has 2 single beds and a glass sliding door to a deck.

Red Bedroom: has 3 single beds and a glass sliding door to a deck.

Green Bedroom: has 4 single beds.

Blue Bathroom: is a full bath with a shower.

You can accommodate two groups at once with two living rooms both equipped with TV, VCR and DVD players. The main living room has a working fireplace and surround-sound speakers.

In between the Kitchen and the Dining Room is an additional Sun Room which is enclosed in French glass doors and 5 windows. It’s perfect for setting up 3 tables in a “U-Shaped” for buffet-style dining should you choose to cater a party.

Being in the house, you will definitely feel as if you're in the Hamptons due to the decor and color combinations. The house is only 10 years old, and very well-kept, however it's not a museum. It's been decorated to accommodate renters, so a more shabby-chic, non-clutter approach has been taken.

The wrap-around covered porch is one of the most attractive features of the house. You’re able to sit in comfort no matter what the weather is while looking down at the gorgeous pool and landscaping.

The center of the porch has three gates to enclose a secure area for toddlers to stroll and play. You never have to get up and they're always in-sight as you relax on the porch and look down at the property and pool area.

Holiday lights cover the entire porch area which provides a very festive environment in the evening hours. Plus, most cab drivers in the Hamptons know “the house with the lights”, so you can go out at night and always easily make it back during late nights.

The back stone patio has a picnic table with a solar umbrellas and brand-new BBQ with tons of chairs. It's one of the most popular places for entertaining while still having a view of the pool area and back decks.

The house has two driveways and two parking lots which can accommodate 15 cars. Should you choose to have a party, your guests can easily park on the street in the back of the house with no problem.

Due to the large and unusual size of the property, it's ideal for families, especially those with family members who can't manage going up and down many stairs. The bedrooms on the main floor are accessed via 2 stairs with a mini-wall to brace. Plus, there is NO tub in the bathroom, just a walk-in shower.

Area Description

BEACHES

Depending upon what type of group you are, there are several options:

BEACH LOVERS: Only 8 minutes away from Cooper's Beach ranked # 3 by Mr. Beach in 2008. This beach is located in the Village of Southampton so you’ll pass all the mega-mansions. The beach is literally about 20+ houses away from Calvin Klein’s beachfront property. Daily rate is $40.00 to park.

FAMILY BEACH: Suffolk County State Park, Meschutt Park is located on the Peconic Bay. Ideal for families with small kids because you park and literally walk a few feet to the beach. There’s a life guard on duty and an area that is roped off. The beach is very long but narrow, so you can keep an eye on the small ones. There's a concession stand called the Beach Hut with daily specials, including frozen alcoholic drinks for adults. You can sit on the deck and look out and watch the kids. Literally, only 3 minutes away, no traffic, $8 a day to park, and no rough waves.

SINGLES BEACH: If you’re in your 20s or 30s and addicted to MTV, you’re only a 15 minute drive away from the beach bars that have the partying going until 7:00pm.

WATERFRONT DINING

Only 3 minutes to the Shinnecock Canal for waterfront dining at Tide Runners. Edgewaters, Lobster Inn or Indian Cove.

Only 15 minutes to Oaklands and Dockers for Dune Road restaurants located across from the ocean.

SHOPPING

Only 10 minutes to the Village of Southampton for shopping and additional dining options.

Only 20 minutes away from Tanger's Outlet Mall in Riverhead.

Our entire extended family stayed here for one week. The house was large enough to accomodate all of us. The pool was wonderful! We enjoyed the hottub, volleyball courts, and basketball courts. Excellent location! We did not have to get involved in all that Hampton traffic. The caretaker was thoughtful and accomodating!
