Area Information
Ours is a prime location at the tip of Clark Point, which lies between Southwest Harbor and Somes Sound. The cottage enjoys a private location about 100' back from the shore with views over a hay field to mouth of Somes Sound and the mountains of Acadia Park. From our cottage, it is a three minute walk in one direction to the historic Claremont Hotel, with its tennis and croquet courts, dock, and fine restaurant. In the other, it is three minutes to the town dock, lobster wharf and pick-up point for the free Acadia bus. A few minutes further walk brings you to the ferry dock with service to the Cranberry Isles. Southwest Harbor town center is now less than a half mile, as are boat and bike rental facilities, the Gilley Museum, and varied restaurant and shopping opportunities. The lakes and mountain trails of Acadia Park are within a 5-30 minute drive, as are the Causeway Club and Kebo Valley golf courses (both open to the public at reasonable rates). In short, this is the place to be for a vacation during which everyone will be happily engaged.

Nice place to stay

There were several things that we liked about the property. The location was nice, since it was within walking distance of the town of Southwest Harbor, and yet was far enough back on a side street to feel somewhat secluded. The view of the water was nice. There were other houses on the property, which we didn't expect, but they were not real close. The house itself was clean and had all the essentials we needed, and then some. We especially appreciated having internet availability and being able to do laundry. Overall, it was a good experience, and represented accurately on the websites.

Magical waterfront location - great for kids.

This property is on the glorius Southwest Harbor just .7 miles from downtown Southwest Harbor Main St. It is walking distance to the grocery, bakery and wine shop! There are too many amenities to mention, but by far the cleanest, most well kept camp around! We will be back.

Idyllic week in coastal Maine cottage

We have stayed in the cottage twice, once as a couple and recently as part of an 11-member family reunion (we assigned it to the four younger members of the family). It worked very well in both cases. It is located on a spectacular spit of land, stone and sand at the southern end of Somes Sound overlooking the mountains of Acadia National Park. It has a view northward up the sound between the two halves of Mount Desert Island that is astonishingly beautiful even for a island known for its wonderful vistas. The town of Southwest Harbor is friendly and somehow manages to maintain its integrity as a fishing village at the same time that it caters to rent-paying tourists who delight in its restaurants and excellent bike shop. This is coastal Maine at its best.

Superb Southwest Harbor location. Classic marine views of nearby islands and Acadia peaks from spacious deck. Beach perfect for cookouts and kids' play - even swimming.

A View to Die For

The guest house met all of needs and was quite comfortable. The view at anytime was the icing on the cake (and we had that too.)I will miss the sound and mountains with my morning coffee. Do highly recommend. A must is a visit to Thurstons lobster pound in Bernard.
