Description of the Spruce Head vacation cottage rental
Two Maine cozy cottages on the same property with total privacy from each other. Located in the lovely mussel ridge chain of islands, this one reachable by car. Maine house has a wonderful sun filled deck on the ocean side. Spend the day roaming the island, discovering the hidden beaches, and watching the lobster boats hauling in the front yard. Low tide brings out the blue heron until sunset, which is brilliant from the West facing deck. The guest house has two bedrooms and can sleep 4. In all this rental can sleep 4 adults and 2 children comfortably. It has one bathroom and its own kitchen. Great for a family with teens who'd like some privacy! Clean, well behaved pets are allowed. There is a place in the front of the cottage to launch a kayak or small boat. Spruce Head Island smells great. The combination of the spruce forests and the clean ocean breeze is unforgettable and renewing.
Midcoast Penobscot Bay is a gorgeous area. Rockland is the nearest city to Spruce Head Isand and it is about a 12 minute drive. Rockport and Camden are nearby. All three communities have wonderful restaurants, water sports and the ability to rent large sailboats, fishing boats, or sunset cruises. Cadillac Mountain provides lovely views or the entire area. Nearby Lighthouses welcome picnicers and there is a lot of hiking nearby. You can spend a day on a lobster boat or visit the amazing American art collection housed in the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland. Art galleries abound, brimming with works by amazing local talent.
There are several movie theaters with current films withing a short distance and there are several golf courses available for play. The beautiful Samoset Resort has a gorgeous layout with spectacular views along the ocean. (Bring a lot of balls and a camera). It's a little pricey but worth the treat. The restaurant there is excellent. There are several local restaurants where you order your lobster and eat outside by the sea. The fresh breezes and delicious lobster are a constant reminder of how special this area is.
