Don't waste your money!! It is very disappointing when someone isn't exactly straight forward. For example... it says on your site that the house is a block away from the beach, which in theory is correct, except when you try to walk to the beach only to find out that that the beach is all on private property and the property doesn't belong to the person from whom you are renting the house, and the next closest beach you have to drive to. Also, as far as relaxing I find that to be a bit of a farce as well. The beds are horribly uncomfortable, those mattress's have to be 40 years old at least, our backs were killing us! I know that the sheets in our bedroom were not clean when we arrived. It looked like someone had just made the bed without washing them. I always check the beds and sheets wherever we stay, since bed bugs are so prevalent these days, and when I pulled back the comforter there was gross stuff all over them and we had to wash them before we could sleep in them. Not to mention my dad had to try to fix the kitchen sink due to a leak, which he did out of kindness because he didn't want your floors to be ruined. We did still have to have the plumber out since it was only a temporary fix and still had minimal leaking. And on top of all of that the floors were disgusting! We couldn't walk anywhere in the house without shoes or socks on our feet. When we did walk around in our bare feet they were black. I was so grateful that my son was only one month old and wasn't at the crawling stage. Worrying about clean sheets, leaky sinks and black feet from the floors in the house isn't exactly what I would call relaxing. Initially I wasn't going to complain but you have really disappointed me. I need to learn that I expect a lot out of people like integrity and honesty, unfortunately in doing so I am continually disappointed.

We had three generations at this beautiful home from 18 months old through grandparents. We had a great time. The house is large enough for everyone to be together for dinner or movie night and yet also offers spaciousness to accommodate the teenagers' privacy and the adults' socialization. Kristi, the owner was accommodating and provided a baby gate for the little ones' safety from the stairs. The highlight of the trip was a family photo shoot at Cherry Beach, at which Kristi graciously took photos of the entire family for about an hour. We have over 150 beautiful portraits of our family vacation at Lake Michigan. Lots of fun!

This is a quiet little house at the end of its own gravel path--the perfect place to get away. It has everything you need--peaceful nights, wifi and cable if you want it, a/c in the hot days and a firepit for the evenings. But it does not have easy access to the water--it is about a 5-10 minute drive to the beach access. It also could use some refurbishment of the kitchen and bedrooms. But for the price, a great place to spend a week away from it all.

Sorry, Did Not Stay

Beware when renting this property - it is not what it seems the owners make promised that they do not keep and DO NOT refund monies when promised if at all! We were suppose to spend the night here in March as a trial run for our family vacation in July and flu intervened. The owners were the ones to suggest the "trial." night. I should have known then..When we called the owners and told them that we were ill they APPEARED sympathetic and promised to refund our $150/night. In the end, they only refunded $59 claiming that they had expenses from us walking in the door. To do what??? Turn the alarm on and off? We did not have a signed agreement - only verbal and the owners claimed that they had a cancellation policy..REALLY? for one night? no one was banging down the door to stay here and after we were there for 5 minutes we knew why. It is sparsely furnished and filthy. Stay here if you must but be sure to get it all in writing first!
Date of Stay June 27, 2012 Hi Laura! We just got back from our wonderful week in Michigan! The house was lovely - very clean, comfortable, and cute. The loft was a dream! The kids stayed up there for hours every day. :) We didn't expect there to be toys for them. It was a nice surprise, and the 3 toddlers were in heaven. Silver Beach was so fun, and St. Joseph is a very cute town. We had a great time, and would definitely recommend this place to people with kids and/or pets. Thanks for a great week! From Laura

Date of Stay August 6, 2011 Laura, Our family had a great couple of days in Benton Harbor! One of our favorite parts of the week was exploring various beaches in the area. We also enjoyed picking lots of raspberries and blackberries. The house was the perfect size for our family and we especially appreciated all the toys for the kids! :) The bikes were also an awesome activity for everyone even if it as just around the yard. The weather was perfect, we didn't even have to use the AC! (But still was warm enough for swimming.) :) We had a fantastic time here and will certainly come back in future years.
Nice location Mark, Lou, Kim and Tom -
