Description of the St Simons Island vacation cottage rental
This is a classic 1940's Island Cottage Home in a perfect location near the Village! This is not a second home with personal belongings in it, but rather a boutique cottage that we use exclusively for our guests at Island Cottage Company, a family owned business we started 9 years ago! We have lots of repeat guests and are happy to provide references.
This 2 Bedroom, 1.5 bathroom home (sleeps 6) is located just 4 blocks from Mallory Park and the Village/Pier Area on St. Simons, which boasts wonderful pubs, restaurants, two parks, beach access and a new public pool, along with tennis courts and a GREAT little library.
Guests rave about the high quality furnishings, linens and comfortable beds.
The neighborhood is quiet and friendly and has easy access to the many bicycle and walking paths that St. Simons Island has to offer.
Closed in back porch leads to a deck overlooking a large fenced in back yard. Complete with an outdoor shower and teak furniture with umbrella, it is the perfect place for a BBQ with the family.
A large fenced-in back yard, full of our famous Live Oak trees and complete with swingset, allows the kids and dogs a good place to run while you grill fresh fish on the large gas grill, complete with gas.
All the neighbors are wonderful people and we take care to ensure that our guests feel at home and respect the folks that live here permanently. Loud noise or large parties are not appropriate for this area.
Area Information
The Pool - It might be the only public pool located right on the water on this coast! It is located right next to the lighhouse and is absolutely beautiful (the pride of St. Simons). Swim lessons are offered in the summertime and lots of locals gather here. Parents can visit the library, the shops or just take a walk while the kids swim. Big kids can ride down by themselves to join their friends!
Golf - Several beautiful public Golf Courses are available with fees starting as low as $28 with cart.
The Village - Cottage is within easy walking distance to two parks (Mallory Park and Neptune Park), public pool, tennis, public library and the beach. Summer music festivals feature jazz and other local music groups. Bring a bottle of wine and some appetizers!
Dining - From locally prepared seafood at many fine local
establishments, to some of our great southern BBQ with sweet tea, dining on St. Simons Island is always a great experience. A whole range of dining options begins in the village, just down the street. A quiet walk to and from dinner is one of our family's favorite things about living in this area!
Fishing - Off-shore Deep Sea Fishing charters available most days weather permitting; Inland Waterway fishing excellent year-round; surf fishing right on the beach or at the Pier. Try your hand at crabbing off the pier with the local kids or seining on the beach to see what you can catch!
Dolphin Tours - Take a boat and see the dolphins up close. You can also see lots of dolphins swimming right offshore on your beach walks!
Try the Casino Cruise for an evening of offshore dinner and gambling.
Hiking, Exploring - St. Simons Island is literally surrounded by state and national parks. Take a ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore for a historical walking tour or see Okefenokee Swamp by boat or canoe. Little Talbot Island, Big Talbot Island, Fort Clinch, and Guana River State Park systems - along with the Sapelo Island Estuary - offer an unprecedented view of Georgia and North Florida's natural beauty.

Horseback Riding - Available through the Sea Island stables located on the North end of St. Simons Island. Go for a nice ride right on the beach!

Pilots - St. Simons Island McKenna airport is less than a mile from the cottage.
Sports Fans - Jacksonville is home to the NFL's largest stadium - Alltel Stadium - brand new and located 60 minutes away. Catch a Jaguars game. This is also home to the annual Georgia-Florida rivalry. During football season you can join the many who come to St. Simons Island for all the festivities.
Theatre - Choose from our local theatre group, the Island Players, located in the Village next to the library or take a drive to Jacksonville or Savannah where several fine theatres present extraordinary shows for your entertainment. The Alhambra Dinner Theatre presents dinner and fine Broadway shows. The Florida Theatre hosts the Symphony, Pops and many fine traveling Jazz, Dance and
other entertainers each season. Each year the FCCJ Artist Series featuring Broadway shows has a number of fine shows at the Time-Union Center for the Performing Arts.

Wonderful Cottage!
June 18, 2013
Our family of 6 (including one yellow lab) LOVED the Seagull Cottage. It was located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to town and biking distance to the beach. The cottage itself is a little older, but it was very clean and nicely decorated! The bathroom and kitchen have been updated in recent years. The owner is wonderful to work with, and is happy to provide many necessities (that many other places do not--like linens, towels, beach towels, paper products, laundry and dishwasher soap, trash bags, grill accessories, etc.) She even had our favorite refreshments waiting for us in the fridge upon arrival! Our kids and dog really enjoyed the fenced, shaded back yard. We will certainly be staying here again!
Owner's reply:
Dawn, thank you so much for taking the time to follow up your stay with a review. We loved having you and your beautiful family and I know that I will never have the opportunity to love on a softer dog ever again! Thank you for your patience with the internet problem. It was an outside connection on the pole and the technician was able to fix it in a jiffy!

This is a great place to stay, very cute and well decorated house. Location is perfect! Very close to the village, pier and beach. we could not have asked for better. Our children were also so happy to have a huge backyard.

LOVE,LOVE, LOVE this place & this owner. This cottage is an ideal getaway to St. Simons. Very neat and clean with all necessary amenities, comfortable furnishings and so tastefully decorated. Wonderful, easy to work with owner. She is so thoughtful & generous and pays special attention to "details". She also has immense knowledge about the area and is very involved with the community. The cottage is located within an easy bike ride and/or walk to restaurants, beach and "The Village" area. We hope to return again in the near future and will definitely stay at The Seagull or any of "Island Cottages" properties. Thanks again Michele for making our visit to St. Simons one of our most relaxing vacations ever!
