Description of the Stockton Springs vacation cottage rental
Lilac Place is an English Garden style cottage in a true quintessential Maine town, historic Stockton Springs which is located on the upper part of Penobscot Bay, deemed one of the top 10 sailing bays of the world.
It is offered as a whole house rental, but can be rented as 2 separate furnished apartments. Hence it is perfect for a family gathering, a romantic getaway or a retreat.
I do have a 3 night minimum stay altho' I prefer a 7 night stay. Rates shown are first for the romantic and beautiful Columbine, then for the lovely Second floor Trillium and then for the entire Lilac Place. I try to accommodate your travel plans. Rates are incrementally changed as we go into "high season" and then back to shoulder-season.
The Columbine is a 1st floor apartment, approx. 750 Sq. Ft.,; 1 bedroom with 4 poster antique double bed; the great room features a large eat-in kitchen and spacious living room with wood stove. The large tiled bathroom has a tub & shower.
The Trillium is a 2nd floor apartment about 1100 sq. Ft. complete with eat-in kitchen, 1 bedroom with queen bed, 1 bedroom with twins, and 1 bedroom with a Nanny's bed, plus a plush and very comfotable queen sofa bed in the living room. The 3 piece Bathroom has a tiled shower stall. Trillium will sleep 7 comfortably.
Both apartments share the same entrance wth a combination door lock and there is off-street parking for a total of 2 cars
As I reside on the property, I'm fairly easy for guests to reach using my cell phone number.
I strongly suggest you visit my primary site for the complete story of our beautiful vacation home rental.
Area Information
Stockton Springs also houses a beautiful and unusually shaped light house at Fort Point State Park, our light house is the most "inland" and most controversial light house in the U.S. and was absolutely necessary because of Penobscot Bay and the Penobscot River and the failure of the Penobscot Exepedition in 1779.
The perfect place to stay to explore both sides of Penobscot Bay with easy accessibility to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Belfast, Bucksport, Castine, Camden, Rockport, Rockland, Stonington and Bangor.
Further, we are approx. 6 miles from Sears Island, the largest uninhabited island on the East coast, where you may hike, bike, X country ski, pick a peck of clams, find sand dollars and sea glass and just enjoy yourself in quiet contentment. Approx. 7 miles to Maine's oldest marine museum, the Penobscot Marine Musuem with a very green campus housing 12 buildings, most on the historic register. Its a fun museum, educational, loved by people of all ages and of great value to geneologists.
We have beautiful fall foliage that normally lasts longer along the coast than in-land. Late spring, summer and early fall are magnificent with constantly changing landscape of colorful blossoms on trees and roadside
We are centrally located between Belfast & Bucksport, with a 35 minute drive to Bangor. Wonderful restaurants, both family & upscale, fresh foods, great antiquing, flea marketing, galleries, wineries, breweries, unique stores and the #1 rug hooking studio in the U.S. (If you want a casino , you can find that in nearby Bangor) . Most all of Maine's premier sites are in easy day trips, but you won't want to miss our very beautiful State Parks & Historic sites in unique Waldo County, where you may discover the treasuers of coast & countryside.

Lilac Place is highly recommended as a staging point for both sides of Penobscot Bay. The rental is very reasonable, nicely furnished and equipped.

Great place to stay on the mid-coast
August 22, 2009
My family (wife, son, myself)recently stayed here on a trip through Maine. Very clean, comfortable, affordable spot centrally located to Belfast, Camden/Rockport, Acadia, etc. Also, a fishing pier at Fort Point is nearby so I could fish while everyone else slept in.The kitchen had everything you need if you don't want to eat out every single meal. A word of advice - if you want luxury or to be in the thick of restaurants, bars, lots of people and touristy places then Stockton Springs isn't the place for you.It is a very small, quiet village but there are nice restaurants within 5-10 minutes of the apartment. Also, Belfast is very close by and it turned out to be one of our favorite towns on the whole coast. For our purposes, the upstairs apartment was perfect and we would definetly stay here again. I rated it 5 stars because of everything mentioned above.
Owner Supplied Testimonials

Thank you so much for such a great stay in Maine! Your sight/taste suggestions were all winners and we have really rested here which is whey we came....
Glenn & Bethany - Louisville, Ky
Recently, I travelled to Stockton Springs and had a WONDERFUL visit at Lilac Place. The accommodations were comfortable, cozy, and Nancy-Linn was warm and just a joy. Before I arrived, I did not have time to really plan what my husband would do while there so I approached Nancy with HELP, what can I do to keep him occupied. She came up with great ideas and we were extremely happy with our stay. The relaxation we enjoyed was so much needed.....I cannot wait to return....Oh Yes, while there we met some of the local business owners and that was a thrill.....the food was fabulous every place Nancy recommended...I highly recommend Lilac Place to anyone looking for a special vacation in Maine...
Hugs to Nancy-Linn at Lilac Place!!!!!!
