Positives Swim beach with dock View of Long Island Sound with islands Sound of fog horn and sail boat stays clinking in wind at night Good firm queen size bed Most residents on this peninsula are full time so feel like part of community – everyone waves to you and is friendly Fishing poles on premises – but we didn’t get one bite Outside grill; also outside lobster pot Large Driveway can fit many cars Quiet neighbors Close to Mystic Seaport yet far enough away from crowds Negatives Steep staircase to downstairs bedrooms and laundry room – if you have mobility issues could be a problem Bugs – daughter saw a large silver fish in her bedroom downstairs. Was lucky to keep her sleeping down stairs. Slanted floor – feels like you are off balance all the time. A/C Cost too much so owner wouldn’t let us turn it on One of windows facing ocean has moisture so hard to look through. Downstairs kid’s bedrooms secluded from upstairs bedroom so kids may get spooked One twin bed in downstairs bedroom is older and springy Queen bed upstairs has rickety wood frame and is relatively low to the floor Linen fee - $65 Cleaning Fee - $100 Security Deposit - $250 – didn’t get this back as owner accused us of doing something (which we didn’t) but wont’ elaborate; we gave a cash security deposit – next time would give either credit card that can be disputed or check that can be canceled. Cannot bring your boat, especially motor boat, as this is a neighborhood rule – the owner would need to put it in the water but he came around once or twice while we were there – he lives 20 miles away. This is a great area for boating – lots of islands and the water is calm and protected. Canoe is in back of house but seats are disintegrated so need pad which owner doesn’t supply; Canoe also seemed to have slow leak; also only one canoe paddle so had to use kayak paddle Kayak is in back of house also; seat is disintegrating along with other parts – we didn’t consider it seaworthy so didn’t use it. Travel time to Misquamicut State beach on weekdays is 20 to 25 minutes; Weekend Route 1 traffic gets more congested so longer. This is a great beach so you’ll want to visit. Crab traps – blue shell crabs have to catch at night and with flashlight; fun to catch regular crabs though Clam rake- found out from another guy that actually need to walk out in the water and feel with feet to find crabs, we couldn’t find where to use the

Very nice, clean home on quiet street. Nice view of harbor. Interesting layout. Nice get-a-way for our 'coastie' (coast guard academy student).

Although the location is key, the house was not clean during our stay. Ants in kitchen. Dirty utensils. Sand/dirt on floors. Bathtub dirty and did not stay plugged for bath. Left a day early. I would rent from another house at Latimer Point.. but never this one again.

This cottage was a great spot for our family beach trip. The private beach and playground were mere steps away, allowing our boys to roam free. The beach was never overcrowded, but there were always a few other children for ours to play with. The deck has a great view of the water, as does the kitchen and living area. This was just what we were looking for.
