Description of the Stonington vacation home rental
This New England Cape was built in the 1850’s, and has been in our family for 40 years. It is a pleasing blend of old and new, with wide pine floors, patterned tin ceilings, and
comfortable furnishings. Bordered by woods on three sides, and Penobscot Bay to the east, you are given the ultimate in peace, quiet, and serenity. We have 600' of deepwater
frontage, and magnificent views of the ocean, the Sunshine Peninsula, and the hills of Acadia in the distance. We provide all appliances and a well-equipped kitchen (complete
with lobster cooker!).
Enjoy breakfast on the screened porch, walk on wooded trails adjacent to the property, paddle our canoe or kayaks to numerous islands and bays, or relax and read a book in the hammock by the water's edge. You can even harvest your own garden vegetables and eat mussels fresh from our shore!
We have welcomed people to our home for 9 summers, and will do all we can to make this vacation perfect for you!
Area Description
Stonington is located on Deer Isle, which is a naturalist's paradise, with wonderful opportunities for kayaking, hiking,
bicycling, and swimming. Take a ferry to Isle au Haut, join a guided kayak tour, or visit some of the many shops and art galleries on the island which feature works by local
artists and craftspeople. Tennis and golf are nearby, and many restaurants offer anything from "lobster in the rough" to gourmet dining. Acadia National Park is about 1 1/4 hours drive away, with a scenic coastal loop road and mountain trails with glorious views.
Convenient to Acadia National Park, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and many art galleries and restaurants.
