Description of the Surfside Beach vacation home rental
The well equipped kitchen overlooks the living room and is the focal point of our home. The living room has a fireplace and large-screen tv with basic cable, dvd and cd player. Outside speakers allow you to listen to your favorite music on the deck and gazebo at the end of the walkway right off the beach.
There are 4 bedrooms, two of which are masters with private baths. One master bedroom is downstairs, the other three bedrooms are upstairs. Kids are a priority too; the owners have two small children so lots of attention to detail for the little ones including two toddler beds, two cribs and two high-chairs.
We offer minimum stays of three-nights during Spring, Fall and Winter. During the summer we only offer week-long rentals. If you are interested in a specific date, please book quickly, because tomorrow those dates will be gone. If you look at our calendar you will see a number of dates in 2013 have already been booked. A lot of these are repeat visitors.
Area Information
Lake Jackson, population of about 50,000, is nearby and has a lot to offer the entire family. Be sure to check out the Brazosport Arts and Science Center, visit the planetarium, theatre, fish hatchery. A museum there houses the largest seashell exhibit in North America. Bring your shells in for identification. There is also a public golf course.
Summer is not the only time to visit the beach. Offseason has advantages too, especially for those who crave a break from their hectic lives. Offseason, the lodging is cheaper and the beaches in Surfside are empty and forgotten - you can take a walk without seeing another soul. There are no city streets so the only sounds you hear are those found in nature and at night you'll be absolutely amazed and delighted by the number of stars you are able to see.
Inside our beautiful home you are surrounded by the comforts of civilized life. In the winter, put on a cozy fire, watch cable tv, curl up with a soft blanket and a good book and enjoy a slower, more relaxed pace. We invite you to sharpen your culinary skills in our well-appointed kitchen. Peruse our cookbooks and try your hand at hearty dishes - recipes like cioppino, paella, stews, chowders, chilis - that take more time and patience than you usually have.
Take this time to replenish the spirit and the soul while reconnecting with friends and family. It will do you a world of good. :)

Christmas Memory

In December, 2012, our family of nine (seven from up North) spent the Christmas holiday at the Bluewater Star home in Surfside, TX. We wanted to have a family memory especially for our grandchildren, and indeed that is what happened. Everyone enjoyed our stay...from walking the beaches to building sandcastles to family get-togethers at meals and in front of the fireplace...it was all that we could have ever hoped for...and more! We all highly recommend a stay there with family and/or friends! In fact, we have already booked another week in the spring for my husband, me and our dogs!

Great kitchen and perfect for a family reunion

Many vacation homes aren't equipped for cooking for a crowd but this one has an exceptional kitchen: a lovely layout with 2 sinks with disposals, big fridge/freezer, pantry shelves and lots of cookware and dishes. The Haneys are exceptionally generous in leaving out DVDs (and TVs in almost every room), books, toys, extra linen and blankets for use by their guests. The beach is terrific and the neighbors are quiet. Every room has a door to a deck and 2 of the bedrooms have their own bath (there are 2 additional bathrooms), so even with the 13 of us in our multigeneration family, we could have private times with our spouses. Be aware of Surfside water, however. It is yellow. Water bottles can be refilled free in town, so we did that for drinking water. The laundry came out fine.

A lot to love

There is absolutely a lot to love about this house. It is very well designed, maintained, equipped, and has an incredible beach front location. Includes a remarkable kitchen, plenty of sleeping space, and a very roomy/open living area. Outstanding views of the gulf from inside the house and the decks. The boardwalk to the beach and the pergola complete what amounts to a dream vacation home. The owners and housekeeper are great to work with, no issues at all. Our visit included extended family members with a wide range of ages; all felt comfortable in the house and enjoyed Surfside and the surrounding area. There are likely less expensive rental options to choose from, but I believe that you will not find a better value…in this case you certainly get what you pay for. The house stands out as one of the very best in the area and allowed us to have a wonderful family vacation on the beach.

Another Great Year!

We just returned from our 2nd visit to this beautiful home and it was, once again, amazing! We had an amazing time; from playing on the beach/ fishing during the day and watching the sunset from the beautiful deck in the evenings. Absolutely fabulous view of the ocean! Met my parents from Cleveland who are in their 70's with my husband and two children. My parents loved the boardwalk to the beach and the nice firm sand made the beach very accessible. My mother even made the comment that she never thought she would walk the beach after breaking her leg 3 years ago. The kitchen was fabulous, the bedrooms very roomy and house is one of the better looking on the beach. The police patrol the beach constantly and clean up crews keep the litter under control. The owners and the housekeeper, Tammy were awesome and very responsive to any of our needs. My girls are practically teenagers and enjoyed the long walks on the beach. Definitely would stay again when we visit surfside.

EVEN BETTER IN THE WINTER!!!

This was our second visit to the Bluewater Star and the first during the winter months - and we love it EVEN MORE than in the summer! Long quiet walks on the beach where you hardly see another person were so invigorating - and the views and sounds of the beautiful ocean were music for our souls. The great fire place and the gorgeious kitchen kept us cozy when we were inside. No matter what the weather, this is the place to go if you like the beach.

We had such an amazing week staying in the Bluewater Star - we travelled from Scotland UK and it was worth every mile of the journey. Every morning we would sit in the gazebo at the end of the walkway and watch the dolphins swim by. We barely left the house except to stock up because it had every amenity you could wish for - and the best views on the coast! The owners were a pleasure to book through - will most definitely return. Cannot recommend this property highly enough.

This is a great house and we had an awesome time! The house is very well stocked and has a great layout. The gazebo on the beach was wonderful to have. You are close to the beach, but protected from the sun. The owners are a pleasure to deal with. I definantly plan on renting this house again.

Winter Family Holiday

The unique "Harry Potter" room under the stairs fascinated and occupied our 3 y.o. granddaughter for hours on end while the large gormet kitchen provided a wonderful gathering space for her adult aunts, uncles, parents, Nana and Pops! This beautiful home was a perfect spot for our family to gather for a fun, long weekend since we missed time together over the actual Christmas holidays. Despite the weather outside being windy, cold, and rainy, the fireplace kept us warm and the enjoyment of 8 adults preparing meals together kept us laughing for hours on end. And when the sun came out, we were able to really enjoy long walks on the beach where we rarely saw another soul. The 3-sided deck provided a great place for adults to gather and watch the huge red sun sink at sunset while a 3 y.o. tried to break speed limits while safely riding her tricycle around and around. It was a weekend to be long remembered by all and we will definitely be coming back!

Spring Break 2009 was wonderful and very comfortable. My group of 10 has the best time of our lives. The house was clean, comfortable and relaxing. The kitchen was fanstastic! It had everything a gourmet chef would want. The view from the house of the beach was worth a million dollars. Just relaxing and watching the sunrise was just what the doctor ordered for the stessed out world we all live in. I will be coming back again! Thank you for such a nice stay!

We visited during the Olympics and enjoyed the many amenities so thoughtfully provided by the owners. Beautiful home with a safe beach for our grandchildren to enjoy. We stayed here on Father's day weekend and through out the week. It was one of the best times I have had in a very long time. We caught Flounder in the waterway, which is about 1/2 a mile from the home. We couldn't asked for anything more. The beaches were very private even during the weekend. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed! Thanks so much for this experience Barbara! We definitely look foward to coming again!!!

Perfect Family Vacation

We spent a wonderful week with our family, 6 adults and 3 children. Aside from the lovely, quiet beach and all that it offered including clear water, porpoise sightings, and many kinds of shore birds, the house accomodated us beautifully. The kitchen was so well equipped and we very much appreciated that as we ate in all but one night. We totally enjoyed the deep decks around the house at all times of the day and evening- even in the hottest part of the day there was a good breeze and shade to be found. We left with very happy memories and very tired kids- they were busy every minute!

Family Vacation

WOW! Nice quiet beach with a surprise visit from a dozen dolphins. We had 3 families stay with us and we never felt crowded or in each others way. Very spacious and clean. We took a day trip into Galveston and it was a nice and short and a beautiful drive all the way up the coast. Sunrises and sunsets on the coast are a thing of beauty and with this house you got a stellar view of both. This was a great bonding time for all of us and we can't wait to come back again! Owners are very gracious and quick to respond to all inquiries. Just a fantastic experience overall.

What a Great Family Getaway!

Our three families gathered in this beautiful home over the Christmas Holidays. We traveled from Texas, Georgia, New York, and Tennessee. Everyone loved it from the children (ages 1, 2, and 4) to the grandparents. Each family had their own rooms and the amenities were extremely kid friendly. I would strongly recommend this home to anyone with children or anyone simply wanting to get away for a quiet weekend. This house is a must to see and revisit again and again!
