Description of the Thomson vacation home rental

Our Mississippi River Lodge is located right on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River between Savanna and Thomson Illinois. Very easy access to the river. Dock is provided for fishing of mooring your boat. Power outlet near the dock to charge trolling batteries. Firepit for roasting marshmallows or cooking hotdogs and hamburers with the kids.

Four bedrooms, three with queen pillowtop mattresses, one with two twin pillowtop mattresses. Great views of the river from three of the bedrooms. Three full bathrooms, one downstairs with shower and tub, two upstairs with whirlpools. Fully equipped kitchen and large banquet style table that seats 8. All looking out over the Mississippi River. 2100 square feet total.

A very large 13 foot by 34 foot deck with table, lounge chairs and gas grill give an awesome view of the Mississippi River and some fantastic sunsets.

Full laundry on upper floor.
Small boat rental available as well as (2) bicycles.

Area Information

Our location has one of the most awe-inspiring views of the Mississippi River around. The early morning sun rises to illuminate the Iowa bluffs across the river and on a calm windless morning the water will just glisten. Just imagine sitting on the deck, drinking your morning coffee watching the sunrise watching the river gently flowing by and the wildlife moving about the area in their search for food. Sit around the firepit on the cool fall evenings and enjoy the peacefulness that comes with the territory. Have your camera ready for the beauty of the sunset - a sight you wouldn't believe you are seeing!
Remember to bring your binnoculars!

Located only 40 minutes from Galena, an hour from Rockford, and only 2 1/2 hours from the Chicago area.

Fun and Relaxation on the Mississippi

My husband and I stayed at the Lodge for a wonderful week in May. It really was a home away from home on the peaceful Mississippi! The comfortable furnishings and river decor are perfect. It was very clean, well maintained and had all the comforts of home. The first thing you see when you walk in the front door is the beautiful view out the spacious windows in the family room and dining area. We loved waking up every morning and seeing the beautiful river flowing by. Besides the fun pontoon ride on the river, we discovered other interesting things to do in the area. One day we went to Le Clair, IA, that had fun shopping and places to eat. Another day we went to Colona, IL, to Lavendar Crest Winery for tasting and a good lunch. Both not far from the Lodge. Galena, IL, is a pretty drive north and also has quaint shops, eateries and history. The Lock and Dam 13 was a very interesting place that showed us how the barges and other watercraft travel up and down the river. We found a great restaurant in Clinton, IA, right on the Mississippi named the Candlelight Inn. Very good food, beautiful view and people can travel by boat to eat there and dock at the restaurant's private marina. Gary and Lorrie, the owners, have done a great job on renovating the lodge and really care that their visitors enjoy themselves. They know the area well and what there is to do. When our visit was over, we left feeling relaxed and well satisfied with our stay while looking forward to a future visit and more fun to be had!

Perfect Family Getaway

We stayed at this wonderful home the last weekend in September. The accommodations were superb. The pictures just didn't do it justice! The four bedrooms were very comfortable with three of them having amazing views of the Mississippi. The bathrooms were all very large and clean and the living area was a great place to relax. Gary was very friendly and helpful and even gave us a small fishing boat to use during our stay. Our large family (7 plus a baby) had such a great time staying there. We're looking forward to staying there again in the future. Things to do: Galena (45 minutes away), Mississippi Palisades (great views, especially during the Fall), fishing and boat rides on the Mississippi and Iowa is just a short drive away.

Gorgeous home in a Gorgeous location

My wife, son and I and two dear friends had the priviledge of staying Saturday night at this amazing home. The home itself had been recently remodeled very tastefully with no expense spared. There are four bedrooms all beautifully appointed, two with flat screen TVs. Also upstairs two full baths with whirlpool tubs. The first floor is very spacious and looks out over a huge deck with an incredible view of the Mississippi River. The deck also has a nice, new and large gas grill. The first floor also has a full bath and a comfortable seating area with a large flat screen TV. The kitchen is very functional with all the amenities. The dining room/kitchen table comfortably seats 8 people.The owners are a wonderful couple who take pride in their accomodations and service. When we needed a cookie sheet, they brought one over right away. I would highly recommend this house to anyone interested in a relaxing peaceful getaway. It can comfortably sleep eight people(3 queens and 2 twins). There are a number of restaurants within a short drive. There is also a dock connected to the backyard if anyone wants to bring a boat. We definitely want to come back next year!

Wonderful and Relaxing

The view of the Mississippi was wonderful. Loved setting on the deck and watching the barges, boats, and birds of the Mississippi. The area offers many great things to do. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. They were furnished perfectly. My wife and I had a great time, and would go back again.

I have not stayed there personally but I have viewed it and I would highly recommend anyone that it would be a great place to vacation.
