Description of the Tierra Verde vacation apartment rental

Located at 1515 Pinellas Bayway on Tierra Verde our complex lies on the east shore of the island, offering vistas of Tampa Bay and near-shore islands. Two bridges away from the hustle and bustle of St. Pete Beach, the property is situated in the midst of a marine eco-park. Mangrove islands provide rookeries for many of Florida's sea and migratory birds and the lagoons and shallows between the keys are full of sea life. Ft.DeSoto Park (in 2005 its North Beach had the distinction of being named the #1 beach in the U.S.) lies 5 minutes to the south. The view from your top floor suite is captivating. On any day you may see dolphins, a manatee, or an osprey diving for fish or enjoy the company of a snowy egret looking for a handout while you are relaxing on the balcony. If you're feeling peckish yourself after playing on the courts or testing the surf, try one of the half-dozen eateries nestled in the Tierra Verde Town Center, just a block away. Billy's Stone Crab Restaurant serves up waterfront dining and entertainment and the Crazy Conch offers a well-reviewed open-kitchen bistro atmosphere. Contintental, Italian, Pizza, Mexican and Chinese take-out spots add additional variety. Or, if al fresco dining's your inclination, take your steaks and BBQ them on the picnic dock by the pool. Whatever you've been up to, at the end of the day you can relax in your well-equipped suite and plan your next adventure.

Although next door to the bustling beach communities,Tierra Verde and its neighboring park and wilderness islands are a world apart from the greater Tampa Bay area. The major developed island in a chain extending south from Isla del Sol to the Gulf of Mexico, it is bordered by Tampa Bay on its eastern shore and by small keys with pristine beaches on the Gulf side. This marine preserve and bird sanctuary is best explored by canoe or kayak as portions of the area are not open to motorised traffic. Don't have a watercraft? You can rent a canoe or kayak in Ft. Desoto Park or seadoos and powerboats at the island marina. A water taxi is also available from Pasagrille's Merry Pier to Shell Key (great beaching and shelling) and a ferry service runs from Ft. Desoto park to historical Egmont Key.

Cross the Intracoastal bridge and you can access all the amenities of a large metropolitan area. Nightlife and dining along the length of Gulf Blvd. Shopping at Tyrone
Mall and the Ellenton Outlets. Major league sports, dozens of golf courses and our famous local theme park, Busch Gardens, can be enjoyed within a 45 min. drive. Disneyworld,
Universal Studios and Seaworld are a manageable 1.5 hr.
drive when the kids want a break from the beach.

Local amenities are handy - but a car is essential. The nearest chain supermarkets are off-island (choice of 3 within 15 min.)all located in shopping centers with add'l retail shops and services. The north end of Tierra Verde has a small plaza with useful services inc. a hair salon, deli, post office, hardware store, bait shop, etc. There are also 2 gas stations, a 711,some restaurants and a marina with boat rentals.The Shipside restaurant provides a hearty breakfast and the Sandbar offers fresh seafood at reasonable prices. Look to Tyrone Mall for the nearest major shopping (20-25min) with big box stores on the periphery. In the case of a medical emergency there
are several hospitals and clinics within a 20 min. drive and 3 pharmacies within 10 min. And when it's time to leave
our sunny island (St. Pete advertises well over 300 sunny days per yr!)three international airports service the area- Tampa and St.Pete/Clearwater only a 30 min. hop.

This was the best place we have ever stayed in Florida. We were minutes from Ft. Desoto Beach, where we found shells, sand dollars, live sea life, and more!! We also had the opportunity to watch a family of six manatees eating right off of the complex's dock! They were so close, you could have touched their little whiskery faces! My daughter LOVED IT!! The house is wonderful, too! Having a private bathroom was very nice. And, BOTH showers could run at the same time without a fight for hot water! SUCH A PLUS!! Having never been in a saltwater pool before, we must say that we all truly liked the experience. The Hot Tub was a very nice touch as well, staying open until 11:00 pm for a quiet, kid free moment. :) We HIGHLY recommend staying at this home by the sea. We enjoyed our stay, and we are sure you will enjoy yours. (It doesn't hurt that the owners are sweet and friendly either!!) You'll definately feel at home in this tropical paradise!
