Description of the Tijuana vacation condo rental

Ocean, city, & Coronado Bridge (in San Diego) view. Located in quite area above downtown Playas de Tijuana.

3,500 kbps ADSL Internet, satellite TV service, 2 TV sets, VCR, DVD, CD player, microwave, washer/dryer. If you are planning to bring your computer, it is suggested that you bring a good surge protector from the USA. You cannot buy good surge bars in Mexico.

Location: About 15 minutes from San Ysidro USA border entry. 0.5 miles from the US border at the ocean.

As you enter Tijuana, Mexico via I-5 through San Ysidro (i.e. San Diego County) you want to veer right after crossing the border. About 0.5 miles from the border take the off ramp that says Encenada/Rosarito/Playas de Tijuana (cuota 1 = highway 1). The highway takes you south and then veer left. Stay in the right lane as you will take the off ramp at the bottom of the hill (before the bridge).

Up the hill you go; after getting to the top start looking for the sign Playas de Tijuana on your right. Take the playas exit and get in the left lane as you go down the hill. Take a left at the 1st light (paseo Encenada) and proceed through next light; at the 4th stop sign you turn left at Avenida Aqua and proceed through the schools zone and a few stop signs/speed bumps. After you go under the bridge, take the 1st left and then your first right at the 1st stop sign (Bella Vista). The subject condo complex is located on your left at the corner.

Due to limited parking in the condo complex, all rentals are limited to 1 parking spot. Please do not plan to exceed this amount. The lot is gated and has 24-hour security.

Everything is a 5-minute drive or less within Playas de Tijuana!

As you come into the Playas de Tijuana, after turning left at the light, note the 2 malls on your left and a couple of smaller ones on your right. Two blocks further is Calimax, another grocery store with a Pemex gas station across the street. Effective mid-2007, you can now pay for gas with your credit card.

Regarding credit cards, many USA credit card companies charge from 1% to 5% surcharge on international purchases. You may want to call your card companies prior to leaving the your home country. One company that does not up charge is Capital One and they give better exchange rates than if you exchanged your cash. If possible, I recommend using your cards as much as possible. The larger grocery stores like Mexicana Commercial and Calimax accept credit cards; the small stores and restaurants will not.

The road that runs parallel with the beach is called Avenida del Pacifico. There are several small restaurants close to the USA border. For the most part, they have fish related menus with the exception of a new Italian restaurant and a sports bar.

The Playas de Tijuana is not a high traffic area like Rosarito, so you do not have congestion. The hill area where the condo is located is a quiet area. You do not have the noise throughout the day from the street vendors selling their wares by honking and yelling on loud speakers mounted on their vehicles as is the case in the downtown and ocean area.
