Description of the Todd vacation cabin rental

This charming Riverfront Getaway Cabin is located on the banks of the New River off Railroad Grade Road, a well known scenic 10 mile biking trail that runs along the river. This spacious 2 stories cabin is perfect for a romantic weekend, a family vacation or just a few days of R & R. 2nd floor has a large private master bedroom with bath and offers flat screen TV/satellite. On the 1st floor the 2nd bedroom offers queen bed. 3rd bedroom offers futon which makes a full sleeper and TV/DVD/satellite, with movies and games for all ages. Greatroom offers a cozy fireplace, large sofa, comfy reading chair, flat screen TV/satellite and stereo. Fully equipped kitchen with all the amenities of home. Two covered decks bring the outdoors in. Enjoy the fantastic river views from a bubbling hot tub on your deck. Also 2 kayaks, 1 canoe, 2 river tubes, 4 bicycles, 4 fishing rods, pool table, BBQ Grill, fire pit, and more. Near 4 Ski Resorts and 15 min drive to the Blueridge Parkway this cabin is great for all seasons.

The historic little town of Todd located between Boone and Jefferson has some of the most scenic views of the High Country. For small town charm visit Todd General Store (est. 1914); every Friday night the store features mountain music jam with musicians from miles around. Enjoy gorgeous scenery while bicycling on Railroad Grade Road. Kayak the gentle waters of the New River as it meanders by forests, farms and valleys. Todd is only a half hour drive from some of the regions top ski areas and minutes away from the Blueridge Parkway. Some of the events happening throughout the year are Art festivals, music festivals, craft shows, Christmas in July, 'Blood Sweat and Gears' (Cycling event), and 'Mountain Highland Games'(gathering of Scottish clans). Skiing, fishing, biking, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, golf, bird watching, are some of the activities this area offers. Northwest Trading Post offers homemade food and crafts. Cascades Nature Trail offers a hike to a waterfall. Moses Cone Memorial Park- Cone Manor, a lovely Queen Anne style home that has been turned into the Southern Highlands Craft Guild’s Parkway Craft Center. Julian Price Park offers 4,200 acres, an amphitheater, picnic area, campground and canoe rentals. Grandfather Mountain has a mile high bridge, awesome views, and hiking trails.  Serenity and Solitude in the Blue Ridge, May 12, 2009

We vacationed down at the Riverfront Getaway Cabin in the middle of April, just as the wildflowers were starting to bloom and the trees were starting to bud out for the Spring. The cabin was very clean, roomy, well-maintained, and comfortable. It seemed to be furnished in an "elegantly outdoorsy" theme, with its "Camp Run-a-Muck" sign in the main room and quilts on the beds, which only added to its appeal. We've stayed in other places that advertised a "fully stocked" kitchen, only to be disappointed. The cabin's kitchen was fully stocked without exception for every meal we needed to make. We ate there a lot, mostly to take advantage of sitting out on the open back porch, or sitting in the chairs down by the meandering and very peaceful New River. Hubert and Kathy were great hosts who made sure we had everything we needed. For a vacation in the NC Blue Ridge that is close to everything a "tourist" desires, yet far enough away to enjoy peace and tranquility, the cabin is hard to beat.
