Callaghan Vineyards
About an hour south of Tucson, the Callaghan Vineyards have been producing award-winning wines for over fifteen years. Owner Kent Callaghan aptly named his 17-acre vineyard “Buena Suerte” (or “Good Luck” in Spanish) and has won many kudos for his fine wines, including the highly-praised 1996 Fumé Blanc. The winery is open Friday thru Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sonoita Vineyards
Another winery near Mr. Callaghan’s establishment is the Sonoita Vineyards. Co-owner Dr. Gordon Dutt was a soil scientist at the University of Arizona when he and A. Blake Brophy established their first experimental vineyard in 1973. They found that the high altitude (5,000 feet) soil is nearly identical to the soils of Burgundy, France. The 20-acre vineyard now produces over 10,000 gallons per year. Their 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon had the distinction of being served at the White House. The winery is open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week.

Other Vacation Rental Amenities
Tumarcori Bar is one of the oldest bars in the state and offers everyone a friendly smile and warm greeting. The famous Wisdoms and the two fine restaurants in Tabac's Country Clubs are some of my favorites. Rio Rico's El Espendor Resort also offers fine dinning but there are dozens of smaller restaurants with many various cuisines.

We stayed here and the house was great--very nice and clean, well equippped, fenced. Nice views of the mountains. House is out in the country , yet neighbors near by so you dont feel completely isolated. We set up our telescope and enjoyed the stars at night. during the day, we visited downtown Tubac, Patagonia, Sonoita and the nearby vineyards. Had a nice lunch at the Velvet Elvis in Patagonia. I would definetely return and andrecommend. Thanks, Mary Anne!

Spacious, quiet, well-equipped, and well-located
We enjoyed 8 days in April. The house was wonderful and the location was ideal. We did a lot of hiking, from Saguaro Park in Tuscon to Ramsey Canyon near Sierra Visa, Madera Canyon is very close, with quite a lot to offer. There are many locations to see birds.

We just returned from a delightful week's stay in this great house. Very comfortable and clean, in a beautiful and private setting. All we could ask in a rental house, with a great price too. Date of Stay: 1/14/2011

This is a well maintained property. It is very clean and feels like home. Great for cyclcing and night strolls. We had a good sense of security with the street lights, but were able to gaze upon the constellations. Thanks; we are coming back.
