Birdwatching- A single trip to Tucson Arizona can add dozens of species to a birder's life list. Our diversity of terrain, mild climate and proximity to Mexico is responsible for the more than 450 species recorded here. Birding is a hobby of ours here and just off the condo patio we have seen Gambel's Quail, Greater Roadrunner and various Hawks and Hummingbirds. In the area, we've seen Black-crowned Night-heron, Great Horned Owls, Common Moorhen, Red-winged Blackbird, Killdeer, Harris's Hawk among other hawks, etc. If you like hummingbirds, this area is the best in the U.S. with at least thirteen species found in the southeastern corner of Arizona each year. The nearest park, Catalina State Park, has a Birding Trail where you could see anything from white-crowned sparrows and pyrrhuloxias to phainopeplas and vermilion flycatchers and more.
