Description of the Two Rivers vacation villa rental

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to not merely visit a
Frank Lloyd Wright home but to LIVE in one'

Well, now you can! This house was originally designed in 1938
for "Life Magazine". Two Rivers business man, Bernard Schwartz,
commissioned Mr. Wright to build this "Usonian" style home on a
beautiful lot overlooking the East Twin River that flows into Lake
Michigan.

The interior fo the house is amazing with rich red tidewater cypress
wood. Cherokee red concrete floors with the heating pipes imbedded
in the concrete. This your chance to experience the genius of Frank
Lloyd Wright.

Frank Lloyd Wright: Frank Lloyd Wright is probably the world's greatest and most famous architect. Frank Lloyd Wright combined geometery and art to create his distinct architecture. His homes evoke a particular experience for the inhabitants. He would situate his homes on beautiful pieces of land and orient them to capture the best views and light patterns. When you are indoors, you feel a direct connection to the out of doors and every window is a picture frame for nature. Frank Lloyd Wright experimented with space by creating rooms with various ceiling heights rather than with walls. The floor plan is open and is as modern today as it was when it was designed in 1938.

The Schwartz House: The Schwartz House is the 'Life Magazine' house of 1938. Life had a contest for architects to compete by designing a traditional house and a modern house. Bernard Schwartz, a Two Rivers business man, commissioned Wright to build the Schwartz House. The house is designed of four materials: brick, glass, concrete and wood. It has radiant heating in the Cherokee red concrete floors which is comforting on the feet. The red tidewater cypress wood has been treated only with beeswax. Early in the morning and late in the evening the light will stream through the windows and create patterns on the walls inside. There are 3 fireplaces in the house, two indoors and one outdoors. There are several patios and balconies to enjoy the out of doors. Wildlife often visits the property which is located on the East Twin River.

Private Tours: When staying at the Schwartz House, you may want to consider a private tour given by our local historian. The private tour will explain the architectural details and history of the house. It will deepen your understanding and appreciation of the house.

'A never-to-be forgotten experience-it changes utterly the way you see Wright architecture, which was meant to be experienced, not observed. I am infinitely grateful.' Terry Teachout, Art Critic, The Wall Street Journal.
