Frank Lloyd Wright: Frank Lloyd Wright is probably the world's greatest and most famous architect. Frank Lloyd Wright combined geometery and art to create his distinct architecture. His homes evoke a particular experience for the inhabitants. He would situate his homes on beautiful pieces of land and orient them to capture the best views and light patterns. When you are indoors, you feel a direct connection to the out of doors and every window is a picture frame for nature. Frank Lloyd Wright experimented with space by creating rooms with various ceiling heights rather than with walls. The floor plan is open and is as modern today as it was when it was designed in 1938.
The Schwartz House: The Schwartz House is the 'Life Magazine' house of 1938. Life had a contest for architects to compete by designing a traditional house and a modern house. Bernard Schwartz, a Two Rivers business man, commissioned Wright to build the Schwartz House. The house is designed of four materials: brick, glass, concrete and wood. It has radiant heating in the Cherokee red concrete floors which is comforting on the feet. The red tidewater cypress wood has been treated only with beeswax. Early in the morning and late in the evening the light will stream through the windows and create patterns on the walls inside. There are 3 fireplaces in the house, two indoors and one outdoors. There are several patios and balconies to enjoy the out of doors. Wildlife often visits the property which is located on the East Twin River.
Private Tours: When staying at the Schwartz House, you may want to consider a private tour given by our local historian. The private tour will explain the architectural details and history of the house. It will deepen your understanding and appreciation of the house.

Still Bend/Schwartz House
April 7, 2014
Staying at Still Bend was an opportunity to fully experience a Frank Lloyd Wright house - to explore the architectural details and interact with the space in an personal way. The house is well and fully furnished, comfortable, and the kitchen is user-friendly. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into keeping the home “authentic” and it is wonderful that they are willing to allow others to enjoy it.

What a fabulous experience about living Wright! I have toured numerous Frank Lloyd Wright designed houses, but until you can actually live in one, you don't understand his whole vision. We saw the changing light patterns throughout the day, cooked meals in the kitchen, and of course, slept there. Waking to the sun coming in the windows was a relaxing Wright experience.

Live as Wright intended
October 29, 2012
This Frank Lloyd Wright designed home has been lovingly maintained and is a treat to stay in. I have visited many Wright properties and can say that sleeping in one is very different than simply taking a tour. The Schwartz house is comfortable and up to date enough for us more modern travelers, while maintaining the integrity of Wright's design.

A wonderful place a wonderful time.

The location is beautiful... the town is just as beautiful. The house surpasses every description we have ever read or heard about it. If you're looking for a place to get away we suggest strongly that you try The Schwartz House, you won't be sorry.

Expensive But Worth It
August 27, 2012
We loved our time at the house. It was a joy to actually stay in a Wright-designed house. This one doesn't leak, but it is the one where he made the change desired by the wife of the owner but didn't fix the resulting fact that the door in the upstairs bathroom hits the toilet. In terms of the rental, it is well equipped, has a comfortable master bedroom downstairs, is well equipped for cooking your own meals. has a beautiful patio and stairs down to a dock on the river. No air conditioning, but we were comfortable in mid-June with just the fans. If you're a Wright fan, don't miss this one.

Perfect place to stay no matter what the weather
May 18, 2011
There are few words that could perfectly describe this FLW home. The moment I walked in I felt as though I were given a hug and was instantly calmed and relaxed. It truly is a masterpiece and the owners have done a great job to keep it intact without detracting from it's original form. The weather this weekend could've been a tad bit better (it was rainy and cold), but that just further enabled us to enjoy the home - and it's amazing fireplace. I'd also recommend Kurtz's in downtown Two Rivers for a great German pint. The owner is the grandson of the original founder and has passion for the restaurant, the history of Two Rivers, & German beer is amazing. The whole weekend was definitely worth the trip! I'd recommend to anyone, especially architecture enthusiasts!
Well, that was amazing

This beautiful home served as the base of operations for an amazing trip to Two Rivers for a friend's wedding. Next to the wedding, this FLW home was the highlight of the trip. In between all wedding related activities, we would loung in this phenomenal home and feel the stress of the real world melt away. Leaving on our last day was a depressing reminder that our fantasy life was coming to a close.

Step Back in Time
July 25, 2010
Very Peaceful, and relaxing. Living in Art. House was very clean. Stepping back in time, It gives you a feeling of 1940 all over again, with 1970 colors in the kitchen. My husband and myself enjoyed lounging on the patio. I fell in love with the Red Cherokee cement floors and the beautiful framed gigantic windows. I also found my self in the middle upstairs bedroom at night gazing out at the moon and stars through the amazing windowed wall. When we first arrived, my kids needed to the know the passcode to the wifi, but 30 minutes later they were out playing in the huge backyard. They fished on the river, played badminton, croquet, & frisbee. Unlike in FL, where we hibernate in the summers, my kids experienced a true Wisc, summer. We hit a hot week in July, so the only downfall at the house is that there is no a/c and no screen on the windows/doors. There are fans in the house. But it is tough to sleep at night with doors open and mosquitoes. Would have loved to see one of those portable ac units or 2. (One upstairs, one down stairs). We really enjoyed our stay in Two Rivers, I bet the fall or winter is absolutely amazing in this house. This house would definitely rate 5 stars if not for the hot nights.

'A never-to-be forgotten experience-it changes utterly the way you see Wright architecture, which was meant to be experienced, not observed. I am infinitely grateful.' Terry Teachout, Art Critic, The Wall Street Journal.
