Dine in the evening on the spacious stone patio that overlooks the mountains. If you wish to travel and explore, the Tuscan/Umbrian region offers all the beauty and culture of the Italian countryside. The art of Florence and the architecture or Rome are within easy reach. Take in the museums of Florence, stroll amid the ruins and fountains of Rome and be back at Casa d'Oliva in time for bed. Along the way there are countless opportunities for sight seeing, photography and art and antique hunting.

Casa d'Oliva is near to all the "hill towns" of Umbria and Tuscany such as Assisi, Spoleto, Gubbio, Perugia, Cortona, Siena and Orvieto. It is a 1 hour 15 minute train trip to Florence and all of its art and beauty. Rome is 2 1/2 hours away and Venice is 4 hours from the house.

Nearby are a number of very good restaurants both expensive and economical. Some are quite sophisticated and some are local gems.

The house has a book that notes descriptions and distances to the nearby sights and also a list of restaurants with descriptions and phone numbers. The book also describes in detail the house, how things work in the house, where to shop for groceries, banks, gas stations and emergency numbers. Local events are also listed. This book is sent via email upon booking the house so that trip planning is made easy.

You will be met at the house by our English-speaking greeters who will familiarize you with the property.
