Beautiful Vashon Island Waterfront Vacation Rental
Vashon's patchwork of pastoral and natural settings make it a refreshing Northwest getaway. Miles of lightly traveled, pine edged country roads make bicycling and walking popular activities. There is something special and magical about being on an island, the pace is slower, the people friendly, the attitudes relaxed. Whether you are petting an Alpaca, slowing for deer crossing the road or watching eagles soar, you're sure to love Vashon.
The island is approximately 13 miles long by 8 miles at the widest point. A great deal of the island is kept to 5 and 10 acre parcels which helps us maintain a rural feel.
In the summer you can visit one of the many farms, rent a Kayak, or explore our beaches. One of the better beach walks is at the historic Point Robinson Lighthouse, with views of Mt .Rainier and Seattle. Lisabuela Beach on the westside is ideal for watching the sunset over the water. KVI Beach is great for a picnic, a walk with a friend or a nap in the sun.
The only way on and off the island is a breathtakingly beautiful ferry boat ride, with views of other islands as well as the Cascade and Olympic Mountains. The "auto/passenger" ferry boat (bicycles to 18 wheelers) loads from Fauntleroy Ferry dock in West Seattle and takes 15 minutes, it's a 10 minute ferry ride from the Point Defiance Ferry dock in Tacoma, and 10 minutes from the Southworth dock in Kitsap. A 35 minute crossing by "passenger only" ferry from downtown Seattle is also available Monday thru Friday

We did not stay at this property because they never answered our inquiries. We tried a couple times to contact the owners to no avail. We ended up staying at the bicycle in the tree house.

Kathy and Todd were great host. Only disappointment we had is the lack of communication with using their wood for the fire. It was disappointing to be told that we could use the wood for a fire, then they changed their mind. It put a damper on the rest of the stay. Overall, a nice place to rent.

Everything is fairly close on Vashon Island, and while this rental is about 15 to 20 minute drive from town center, I highly recommend it for folks who enjoy a stunning view on the water, total privacy and the comforts of home. Our cabin was fully equipped with new kitchen and clean comfy linens. The deck looking over Mount Ranier and Tacoma was a joy. Every intention of coming back and staying here again, hopefully for longer next time.

We spent two nights and three glorious fun filled days at the vacation rental on Tramp Harbor. The secluded lush garden and patio provided a wonderful exclusive sanctuary for a restful and relaxing stay. The bluff above Tramp Harbor gave us an advantage to see soaring eagles and an abundant variety of water fowl. We were delighted to see a pod of porposises and playful seals in the inner harbor. The living quarters took on a nautical, beach theme with an endless amount of creative and enjoyable artistic features throughout the location. We felt that this location was perfect for our weekend escape. Even though it was a short stay, the memories will last a lifetime. Having grown up on the island, I was especially touched by the framed poem on the wall entitled: "If Once You Have Slept On An Island", by Rachel Field. If once you have slept on an island You'll never quite be the same; You may look as you looked the day before And go by the same old name. You may bustle about in street and shop, You may sit at home and sew, But you'll see blue water and wheeling gulls Wherever your feet may go. You may chat with the neighbors of this and that And close to your fire keep But you'll hear ship whistle and lighthouse bell And tides beat through your sleep. Oh, you won't know why, and you can't say how Such a change upon you came, But - once you've slept on an island You'll never quite be the same. Rachel Field

The studio was very nice and clean. It is located on the lower (ground) level of a newer, but Victorian style home. The setting was extremely nice with a wonderful view of Puget Sound looking north. The ferries could be seen passing by in the distance. The location is excellent for touring the island and close to public beaches (short drive). The owner of the property welcomed us when we arrived and was nearby if we had needed anything. We would definitely stay there again.

We reserved this charming apartment on Vashon Island for our anniversary celebration and because we were attending a wedding there as well. We enjoyed the convenience of the location and loved the view to Seattle. We used the hot-tub and kitchen facilities. Eveything was clean and tidy. We were warmly welcomed by the family living in the house above then left to enjoy our stay.

We just returned from a weekend at Loon Lookout and had a wonderful time. The host family was helpful, friendly, and very hospitable. The property was absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. We spent a great deal of time enjoying the view, the hot tub, the fire pit, the garden... all of it! We will definitely be going back.

we live in seattle and wanted some place close yet far away from the busy city life. Just a short farry ride away and we were in heaven. We were met by a big golden retriever and the Hostess of the the home. we were made to feel as if we were part of the family and what ever we needed it was given. We had the place for four days and we would have stayed longer, but we had to get back to the business of working. we loved the little town of Vashon and the best place to eat is the Monkey Tree if you want a delisious home made reasonable priced breakfast, lunch or dinner. This little bit of heaven is well worth your money and time.

What a beautiful town you have here, its like a time warp 20 years past. The pace is slow and the people are kind. The owners of this property are very down to earth and kind, they helped with any thing we needed. When we arived they showed us to our beautiful room, which was almost like having our own little house on the island. The kitchenet was so cute and the whole place felt like home. We found ourselves saying at the beach things like "Well, we should take these shells 'home.'" The price is very low for what you get, there's a fire pit, hammok, Hottub, all there for you to use any time of the day or night. Not once did we even notice the owners were even there unless we went to talk to them. You want to try this place out
