Sunrise Cottage is a magical place. The view literally takes your breath away; it spans 180 degrees of Puget Sound, Cascade Mountains, and sunrises that astound. Nestled above the water on a high bluff, the cottage is located near the bottom of a wooded, dead end road. Bald eagles regularly soar by, seals call, and occasionally a pod of orcas bound through the passage. Public access to the rocky beach below is just a short walk down the road.

Make yourself cozy indoors and out. The cottage is the carriage house of a main house, which shares the yard. Beautifully built, it has wood everywhere, cathedral ceilings, large windows, skylights, and a peaceful feel. Outdoors are benches, a deck, and greenery. It radiates an inviting warmth which permeates your being; the perfect place for a writers retreat or relaxing, romantic get-away.

Vashon island is an oasis of rural charm just minutes from two major city centers. When you take the ferry boat from Seattle or Tacoma, it's like entering a secret passage to another world. The island has a timeless quality; farms pop up all over the countryside, as do artists' studios, wineries, antique stores, and creative homes. Vashon is known for its artsiness; in fact twice yearly the artist studios open up to the public for a tour that gives proof to the creativity nurtured here. There are also annual farm tours and garden tours where visitors can see private homes and the spunky creativity of islanders. There is much to do here; take walks in one of the many parks and wooded areas, or for miles along the beach; bike around the island roads, or take a mountain bike to the extensive state lands trails; go visit art galleries, antique shops and restaurants; try horse back riding, or rent a kayak on Quartermaster Harbor. Vashon is an enchanting place to be; come let the spell work on you!
