August week at Venice Breeze
August 27, 2012
Just spent a little less than a week at Venice Breeze Suites. (Two adults and two little kids) Cant say enough good about this place. It was clean, comfortable, etc... The staff was helpful. Location is fantastic. I was a little nervous about the parking situation, having stayed in Venice before, but the parking lot is closer than I expected (maybe a 3 minute walk) and clean and secure. We stayed in a ground floor unit by the rear door. It was still fairly quiet, but most mornings we were awakened by the sound of someone dumpster diving just outside the window. That's Venice for you! What a lovely place. We'll definitely come again.

Being right on the beach was best feature....then the roof. The hotel is a bit aged but in reasonable shape. Would go back.

We rented this studio for 12 days in December. Awesome! A Santa Monica Holiday at Venice Beach prices!! The studio is very very nice. Just 30 meters from the ocean, and only a few minutes from the center of Santa Monica. The apartment was perfect, with the kitchen and a large closet for our thing. The laundry service is in the basement, and very cheap. If you have a car, you can park it in the big parking at the beginning of the street for free (and considered the average parking cost at LA, it's a very big deal!!).

Everything was great. The room was clean and well equipped. The manager was kind and helpful. There were many homeless people but it seemed not that unsafe place. The only problem was parking. The parking lot was farther than I expected. However I'll stay there if I visit Venice again.

Venice Breeze - Bang for your buck

The Venice Breeze Suites are a great place to stay. Suites are clean, modern and well appointed. During our stay for a week we totally enjoyed the suites and the location. As a matter of fact we felt so comfortable at the Venice Breeze Suites that at the end of the day, during our wonderings across LA we would always say “...time to go home.” not back to the room or hotel but home because it felt that comfortable. Parking is a big problem in Venice, how do the suites address this? They give you free parking in a gated, covered lot that is 2 blks north of the Suites. This means that at night you need to walk these two blocks back to the suites, however the lot is so secure we even left our GPS and other electronics in the car. The only CON to this area is that you really need to be off the boardwalk by 10:00 PM unless you’re willing to deal with the night people, most of whom are homeless and living on the beach. While some of you may have heard that Venice is not a safe place I will say that there was always a strong police presence to help assure your security. Assuredly Venice is more bohemian than most of LA but experience that as you experience the rest of LA it is all California culture.

These places are newly renovated and very nice. Location is great, right on the sand. A very great value for the money! Management was great and very helpful/friendly. A few words of caution: We took our two children (ages 7 and 2) and found the Venice locals to be quite "eclectic" to say the least. Would not go back to Venice with kids - just too many homeless and things kids probably shouldn't see. If you're there on the weekend, prepare to hear the "drums of a thousand locals" fill your room from about 6:00 to 10:00 PM. There's a park directly outside of Venice Suites where locals congregate to play drums and other musical instruments. Kinda cool for a while, but after four hours a day of it we were over it. Luckily the police shut it down at 10:00 and it's only Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'd go back again if it were only the wife and I. If you have kids I would think about Santa Monica. But if you'd like an authentic Venice Beach experience, this is a great place!
