Area Description

Homey, yet casually elegant, Vero Beach and Indian River County attracts visitors and residents because of the cultural wealth and inherent natural beauty of the area. Vero Beach was rated the “Best Small Town in Florida & 12th in the Nation” and was named one of “The 100 Best Art Towns in America.” Known as the “Gateway to the Tropics," Vero Beach is located in a climatic transition zone that offers an unusual mix of vegetation found in the coastal Carolinas – ancient oak trees and pine forests – blended with swaying palms and colorful blooms typical of the tropics. The area is also recognized as the 'Citrus Capital of the World,' producing the finest Indian River citrus for the domestic market and worldwide export.

The Indian River Lagoon, passing through Vero Beach, forms a significant portion of the Intracoastal Waterway, and is a hub for boating & fishing, water skiing, and other small-craft waterborne activities. Sheltered from the open ocean, the Indian River area of Vero has a number of public and private marinas and boat launch facilities.

Vero Beach and Indian River County have some of the best places in the country for surfing and the most unique places for diving and snorkeling as well as Nature Preserves to explore. Whether you prefer to spend your vacation in a setting closer to nature, or if you just want to spend a night or two shedding the trappings of civilization, Indian River County is a great place to visit parks and camping.

The Vero Beach/Indian River County area offers outstanding health care with two major hospitals with 24-hour emergency service; seven walk-in, emergency clinics that operate generally six days a week; and over 20 pharmacies.

One thing is for certain. Once you visit the beautiful Vero Beach/Indian River County area, you won’t want to leave.

I rented this house as a christmas gift to anyone that wanted to go in my family back in sept '08. We came from ohio, where it was a nice getaway from the cold and snow. The house was more than we expected. One night we had 15 people stay the night as relatives came to visit from north florida. Ages ranged from 18 mos to 70 years, with 3 college age, 1 high school, 1 jr high. Everyone had a bed. There were plenty of toys, movies, games, just anything that you wanted to be entertained. We wanted for nothing in this house, we even found a hot glue gun, and used it to make some seashell picture frames with some of the shells we picked up on the beach. One thing that was fun was painting some seashells and throwing them on the beach in the mornings, while watching others pick them up with disbelief as they walked by! We have vacationed in vero beach about 4-5 times before but stayed in a hotel, as the guys love to bass fish at farm 13/stickmarsh in fellsmere, and this trip was better than ever for them as they caught 5,8, even 11 lb. Bass everyday. Yes, they pulled a bass boat all the way from ohio!! Us girls spent the days on the beach, only about 20 steps from the backdoor, and was pretty private, and the evenings at the outlet mall, just about 20 min drive. We did not eat out like we usually do,due to the kitchen and house being so nice, we didn't mind cooking and loved being in the house. Evenings were also spent out on the large deck, swinging in the nice swing, just taking in the sounds of the ocean. The best thing for me was the comfortable beds as they were all plush, and you could fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean each night. My favorite bedroom was the pirate room and the bedroom beside it as it had breathtaking views. If you love the beach, or are looking for a place to catch huge fish, or just a nice quiet family getaway, this house offers the best of both. The owner's stopped by the first morning and brought us some fresh pecans and tangerines, in which we ate on all week and brought some back to ohio, they were truly great people to work with and get to know. We also traveled up to disney world on new year's eve, as some of the older kids did not remember being there as youngsters, we all enjoyed it!! We will rent this house again, next christmas and would highly recommend this house to everyone. Life is too short not to take time out with your families, this location allowed us to do that. God bless you!

5/5 Our Wonderful Week
LaVonne Nashville, TN.
Date Submitted: October 26, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
I had never rented a house before, but as our son was getting married in Vero Beach, I thought it would be a fun thing to do, with relatives coming from afar, and it would be great to have everybody together and not live out of a hotel room. Boy, was it a good decision. First off, Valerie was so easy to work with! The house was fabulous and had every amenity you could think of. There was plenty of room to spread out and plenty of rooms and beds to accommodate everyone. There were oodles of toys for my neice to play with. The kitchen was well-stocked with condiments, there were plenty of towels, etc., and there really was nothing that we lacked or had to run to the store for. It was also clean and beautifully decorated. The ocean really is a stone's throw from the house and we spent almost every night in the swing talking and listening to it. I would recommend if you have a family reunion, a girls' getaway, or you need a place with lots of space, private and quiet, and a gorgeous view, this is the place. Once you arrive, you could spend the entire time relaxing and never have to leave, although of course we did. Vero Beach itself is a beautiful little town. I would definitely recommend this house. It made our stay that much more special!!

the reason for our trip was to honor my mother who passed 2/23/08 and place her ashes at fountainhead in palm bay beside my father - it was a rememberance and celebration of both of them and as a result many members of my family came - the house was exceptional - beyond my expectations - both in cleanliness and amenities (except for beach chairs which we purchased (3) and left for future guests) - to include spices which always is an issue for us when preparing meals - many of the questions concerning location, activities, etc. did not apply in that we were familiar with the area because of the 20+ years we had been visiting my parents in sebastian - hence the reason i picked this house and because it gave us the feeling of family more than a more comercial type of place - and yes i would recommend this house and if we could all come together here again in the future it would be great!!!
