Description of the Virginia Beach vacation villa rental

"The Contemporary Castle" is a spacious two-story contemporary-style oceanfront residence located just south of the Virginia Beach Boardwalk Resort District. The home has vaulted ceilings throughout giving it an open and airy atmosphere and all rooms have Hunter ceiling fans to circulate those relaxing ocean breezes.

You'll enjoy five large bedrooms including two master suites. The first floor master suite has a kitchenette and private bath with jetted tub. The huge oceanside second-floor master suite has a private balcony overlooking the Atlantic as well as a private master bath.

From the spacious greatroom you have a "million dollar view of the Atlantic Ocean"...you can see forever! Relax on buttery-soft leather sofas and watch the Sony big screen television with DVD player or exit onto the 18' X 28' sundeck and watch the dolphins put on a show. Below, at dune level is a shade deck with hot/cold shower that leads directly to the lovely five-mile long beach ( a fifty to seventy-five foot walk the the ocean ).

Additional recreation is to be found in the enormous garage/gameroom...a very nice Valley billiard table, Kettler ping-pong table and foosball table.

The newly remodeled kitchen boasts blue-pearl granite countertops and backsplash and a custom-made matching dining table. Also, there's a center work-island as well as a spacious pantry where all of the small appliances are stored. Adjacent is the lovely diningroom with glass atrium that offers a southward view of the Atlantic. The room is highlighted by another custom made granite dining table and a striking contemporary chandelier.

Indeed, "The Contemporary Castle" is a residence that exudes warmth and character throughout...a place where you and your party can genuinely relax and enjoy a vacation experience that you'll long remember. In fact, there are many families who return to Sandbridge Beach year after year and have made it their yearly beach retreat. Just a mile south of "The Contemporary Castle" is the Little Island Recreation Park built around an old Coast Guard Station and situated directly on the Atlantic. The park offers lighted tennis and basketball courts, a playground, covered picnic pavillions, snack bar, two new bath houses with showers, a newly remodeled fishing pier, and a lifeguard-protected beach. Also, there is a station where you can board an electric tram that will transport you to the adjacent Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. This 13,000 acre refuge surrounds the community of Sandbridge Beach and offers visitors to experience a wild coastal territory teeming with wildlife...swan, snow geese, Canadian geese, many species of ducks, deer, wild boar...even wild horses.

For the golfers, a one mile drive places you at the Hell's Point Golf Course, a highly ranked challenging course surrouned, too, by the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. And, within another 20 minutes are the Heron's Ridge Golf Course and the Virginia Beach City Golf Club.

Within a mile is the Seaside Market and two fine seafood restaurants, The Baja and Margie and Ray's. Additionally, Dana Blanton at Margie and Rays will provide in-house catering of any or all meals for our guests at "The Contemporary Castle" if you choose, or she'll be glad to deliver party trays for any occasion, or perhaps you'd like a bushel of steamed crabs...she aims to please.

A major shopping area is about three miles away providing every thing you may need...a 24 hour Walmart, Eckert Drug, Home Depot, Regal Theaters, Outback Steak, Golden Corral, Wendy's, Sonic, Red Robin, plus local favorites like The Tiki, Lucky Oyster, Atlas Diner and others.

A twenty minute drive places you at the Virginia Beach Resort District where all the major hotels line the Boardwalk area and there are numerous restaurants, bars and clubs that support the lively nightlife scene. Nearby is the Virginia Aquarium, Ocean Breeze Water Park ( with 13 slides and a million-gallon wave pool), Rudee Inlet Sport Fishing Center and Marina as well as museums and other cultural activities.

An hour away is historic Williamsburg and Jamestown as well as Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. Obviously, your choice of activities is quite broad while visiting Sandbridge Beach...maybe that's why so many of our guests keep coming back year after year!

New for 2008 (April, 2008)! We've totally remodeled the Gameroom!

We've removed the two 9-foot garage doors and added full-lenght glass window-walls making the 25' X 30' Gameroom very open and airy. New wainscoating has been installed around the room and a new yellow "makeover" makes the room pop! Guests will also enjoy the two huge sofas and love seat as well as the new 55" digital cable television. And, of course, as always there's the wonderful Valley billiard table and the Kettler ping-pong table. We've also added a table with seating for six (for dining and games) and two remote control ceiling fans.

Now the younger crowd can chill-out in the Gameroom while the adults enjoy the second-level greatroom with the big-screen Sony television and the supple leather sofas!

Now "The Contemporary Castle" is an even better place to spend your visit to Virginia Beach!



And, since you're on vacation, you may not want to cook. Let us arrange in-house catering by a local restaurantuer who specializes in fine seafood dishes. What a great way to celebrate a special occasion...and, Dana can deliver party trays to the house, or, if you like, a nice bushel of steamed crabs. We had a great time at the Contemporary Castle in VA Beach. The owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful. He immediately had a new grill delivered on our first day, when we called and said we planned to grill all week, and the grill at the property was well past prime. The views of the beach from the main room were fantastic. The house has lots of room for all of us. I highly recommend this property, and we loved the location of the house and Sandbridge Beach.  more...
