Description of the Volcano vacation cottage rental
The cottage is a warm and cozy haven nestled in a forest with native Ohia, tree ferns, orchids and antheriums. It is a five minute drive to the National Park so we are well away from the traffic and tour buses. Your room is separate from the main house in a residential neighborhood so you can feel at home too. There is a lanai to have your morning coffee on while you view Mauna Kea and plan your day. We will be glad to share our extensive music and video libraries and we will be glad to fix popcorn for your quiet evening relaxing. There is a
bicycle built for two waiting for you. Your host, Manikea offers personalized tours to the lava flow site in Kanapala which gives you a chance to take fantastic shots of the Island being born. You will start your day before daybreak to take advantage of the dark allowing viewing of the lava moving down the mountain and take the opportunity of catching our special sunrises on film. This will be a day to remember and to share with friends. Come to Volcano's Halehonu as a guest but you will leave as a friend. Dont let our comparatively low price fool you. We do offer the largest return on your vacation dollar.
Area Description
The Cottage is 2 minutes from Volcano Village at the 3000 foot elevation which blesses us with cool evenings perfect for a good nights sleep. We recommend you bring a warm jacket for the early hours. Rain gear is a must since we frequently experience showers. Our neighborhood is still partially virgin Ohia forest so you can see the natural state of the land. Song birds abound and greet you in the morning.
Volcano is well known as an artist's colony and features galleries in the Village as well as in the National Park. There is a local Farmers Market on Sunday mornings featuring many of the local artisans. If you want a real "down home" 4th of July, join us for the local parade.
