Description of the Volos vacation apartment rental

Large apartment(42m2)for up to 4 people in an attractive villa on the edge of a quiet seaside village. The villa is subdivided into 4 apartments each sleeping 4 people. The villa is within walking distance of a sandy beach and village centre with tavernas and cafes. The apartment has one twin bedroom with air-con, a bathroom, living-room with a double sofa bed and kitchen facilities. There is a large shared balcony with seaviews and two other private balconies. Shared use of a large shady and enclosed garden with barbecue. Other nice beaches and archaeological sites are within easy driving distance. Come and experience life in a beautiful, unspoilt Greek village much appreciated by Greek holidaymakers but largely untouched by foreign tourism.

Area Description

In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, three of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. The village also has two bakeries and two general stores. The beach is also within walking distance of the apartment and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children 's playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. In high season there are 2 beach bars. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families. You can experience the 'real' Greece here largely untouched by mass market tourism. As well as the village beach there are several good beaches within a 30 minute drive. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos from the nearby village of Achillion. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras. Volos is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos. The Pelion Peninsula is within driving distance with beautiful scenery - a good day trip. In winter there is even a ski resort on the peninsula! Explore the seaside villages or drive up into the mountains for breathtaking views.

If you want to venture further afield both classical Delphi (approx 120km) and the Byzantine monasteries of Meteora (approx 180km) make fascinating excursions as does the lesser known archaeological site of Dion (approx 170km).
