Description of the Wailuku vacation condo rental
We consider our Condo in Maalaea as our 'Hale' in Paradise. It sits directly in front of the blue Ocean with a small private beach and tide pools to explore. Often you will find yourself sunbathing with a 'Honu' (Turtle) right next to you.

From the Lanai you can watch the Whales put on an incredible show during the months of December through April. Maalaea Bay is a Sanctuary to the Humpback Whales.

One of the best aspects is that it is centrally located to all that Maui has to offer.

The bedroom is nicely appointed with an appealing tropical flair with a large closet. There is a louvered glass window which allows a nice breeze that aids in a restful sleep. The couch folds out into a comfortable queen size bed.

The kitchen is equipped with everything you should need to make your stay feel like home. It has been recently updated with a new Stove, Microwave and Dishwasher, Corian Counter tops and new Cabinets. The refrigerator also has a ice maker. The stacked washer and dryer is located behind the louvered wood door in the kitchen.

The bathroom has also been updated with a tiled walk-in shower with a glass block wall, Corian Counter tops. There is a hairdryer, curler and straightener available for your use. There is face and hand soap in the cabinet above the sink.

There is a Flat Screen TV, DVD, free WiFi, VCR, CD Player, Satelite/Cable, Telephone and Broadband Access. We have attached a HDMI cable to the TV so you can connect your device to stream movies or look at your pictures of the day. The beach towels and chairs, beach tote and cooler along with bed linens, bath towels, kitchen towels, hot mits, broom, vacumn, laundry detergent, fabric softener, misc cleaning supplies and light bulbs are all located in the glass door closet in the hallway.

The cane couch has a dark floral print and along with the matching cane furniture with the wall decorations and prints completes the tropical feeling of the Islands. There are new tile floors through out the Condo.

There is a fenced in Pool and Hot Tub along side an Outdoor Grill. Lots of lounge chairs are located on the lawn. There are also tables and chairs for dining and relaxing with a beverage. A outdoor shower is there to rinse off before entering the pool and to rinse off the sand for those who choose to hang out on the beach located right out in front of the Condo.

The Lobby too has the feel of the Islands and when you walk in you are welcomed with the relaxing sound of the waterfall feature. There is a parking lot out front of the Lobby entrance off the street.
Area Information
For the soul soothing beach strolls, you just have a 2 minute walk down Hauoli St., our quiet dead end street and you are at Sugar Beach. You could walk all the way to Kihei on this beautiful, long, unspoiled stretch of beach. On one side you have the ocean and on the other side is the Kealia Wildlife Refuge and Pond. The Maalaea Harbor is where you can find both Award Winning Restaurants and low keyed cafes, there are shops, boating activities of all kinds, the General Store and Deli and the famous Maui Ocean Center and Aquarium. Best of all it is a short walk there from the Condo. The drive to and from the Kahului Airport is only about 12 minutes. The Maalaea area has the feeling of Aloha, far from the busy and crowded areas but centrally located so you can visit those areas, just a 20 minute drive North to Lahaina/Kaanapali and a 20 minute drive South to Makena/Wailea. After a busy day of sightseeing and Island adventures you will return to your quiet and peaceful home away from home. Then when you have a good nights sleep with the help of the breeze and the sound of the ocean flowing through the Condo you will wake up to the beauty of the sunrise above Haleakala.

This was our last island stop after Oahu and the Big Island which really wore us out. This condo was the absolute best place to relax after all the traveling and adventure. The a/c worked well, but you could not hear the ocean with everything shut up. So we just used to louver windows instead and had an amazing breeze going while listening to the waves (we were not overheated at all). The area is very, very quiet and safe. You are close to the Ocean Center and the dock if you are going on a diving/snorkeling adventure. We drove up to Lahaina and down to Wailea and it only took about 20 minutes either direction so you are close to wherever you want to go. Sometimes you're not in the mood for salty water bobbing, so the pool (felt heated) and the hot tub were a great way to unwind. There are beaches everywhere, but I would suggest walking the block over for sugar beach which had great sand and was safe for children to play in. Back to the condo, the balcony is big, so we took all of our meals on it. This meant we could also watch the turtles feeding by the rocks every morning (look for their heads when they come up for a breath). Sunrises and sets are also great to take in from the balcony. The kitchen was a great size for cooking (we prefer to eat in most days). The bedroom and living room have comfortable furniture. For the beach, the chairs provided were awesome and have cooler pockets in the back for cold bottled water. LOVED the box of chocolates. I would definitely stay here again. Oh, and there is a Road-to-Hana narrated CD, so if you do that bring it along for the great information it provides. This was our favorite place we stayed!

Mahalo nui loa Vanessa...we are happy that you enjoyed the peacefulness of the Village of Ma'alaea and our Maui Hale. You were very thoughtful and gracious guests. Ma'alaea Banyans prides themselves with having the only hot tub on Hau'oli St. Again mahalo for the heads up on the faulty sun umbrella, we appreciate Guest input. It allows us to make sure that everything is as it should be. Yes we love those beach chairs it eliminates the need to carry around a cooler and beach bag. They are basically beach back packs. Remember "Our Hale is your "Hale" Aloha nui loa.......Cheryl

Everything in the listing and description was accurate. This was the best place we stayed in 11 nights. Everything was full sized, no half refrigerator and clean. The air worked great and the building was quiet. The turtles come up to the beach to feed at night. This is a definite stay if you're going to Maui!

Aloha! Everything is fantastic! It started raining yesterday afternoon and it looks like it might rain all day today. But that's ok ~ we don't get much rain in Las Vegas, so it's a treat for us. The condo is wonderful. This is our third visit to Maalaea Banyans and by far the best unit. And we love the lock box!! Very, very convenient. The whales don't seem to mind the weather and a few have put on quite a show. It's GREAT to be here! Thanks very much, Cathy and Bob

Everything is wonderful here lots of sun and fun, its like coming home. Did our pilgrimage to Hana yesterday and it's a rest day today with dinner at Kimos tonight. Everything at condo is perfect and well equipped, we bought 4 martini glasses and will leave them here after our visit. Only one unwanted visitor (roach) about the size of a small mouse! Don't worry it was probably a transit insect and was just looking for a place to stay. Fortunately it no longer has to worry about it due to an unfortunate accident with a magazine. Really enjoying being here! Warren & Shelley

Jim and Cheryl Olson are the penultimate condo owners. Never have we had such personal, one on one, service. They made our 3 week stay the most relaxing vacation we have ever taken. Our view from the lanai was a dream view with the ocean just feet away and sites of whales with new born calves, jumping fish, and the ever changing cloud patterns to treat our eyes. Let me not forget the "resident" turtle who, at 6:15, would come ashore for the night and just lie around with the curious on lookers. The condo is beautifully appointed and I especially liked the walk in shower. We will be back!!!

I am so sorry that I didn't mention the Chocolates & nice welcome note. It was a special treat & they were devoured in no time. I'm always doodling..."kinda paint"...The card is right here on my desk. I like the simplicity & the brush strokes of the clouds ....Yea...right..I'll see how simple it is when I try to duplicate the card. I took some beautiful photos from the lanai...I could gaze at water & clouds all day long!!! I'm printing some of the pictures & plan to attach them to cards. We had a wonderful week at your "Hale" ... couldn't have been a better place to celebrate our 40th! Thanks again,

Hi Cheryl, Loved it, loved it ,loved it. We really enjoyed our stay. Missing the turtles and the sound of the waves. Feel like I'm homesick for Maui. Unfortunately we are back to work today. Another long winter to get through. I left a note for Sharlee as well, but just to let you know we never found the pool key and the internet connection was not working very well/consistently. Not complaining, as we never missed either one. Went to several beaches and never even took a computer. Hope you and Jim enjoyed your Holidays. Thanks Don

happy new year!!!....and apologies for not emailing before this.... our vacation was wonderful and the weather was perfect as neither of us enjoy really hot temps....we had a wonderful trip...and thoroughly felt at home in your condo...and truely appreciated your patience and support both before and during our vacation....we went for a walk most mornings and each time the sky, ocean and beach were quite different...we had a couple of turtles swimming outside the banyans for most of the second week and one morning there must have been at least 2 dozen turtles swimming just off the shore as we walked along the beach...another morning the beach was covered in the teensy crabs that you see every once in a while and another morning after it had been partic windy the night before parts of the beach were littered with dead eels and fish and other creatures...the colors changed every day...my favorite was the morning that everything...sky, sand, ocean...was drenched in a magical silvery light...it was incredible... besides the regular touristy spots like the iao valley we decided to add some that were new to us...the goat dairy farm, horseback riding at the mendes farm, the lavender farm..we didn't go to the vodka place next to the goat farm as neither of us drink vodka but i'm sure it would be interesting to learn about the process and we may try that another trip...loved the goat farm and bought most of our gifts from there..mmn good....the drive to hana was so different from when i drove it last in 1992...the night we spent in hana was an experience..a little too "rustic" especially for me (joloyce is 80 and has difficulty keeping it up...she's planning to sell)...but we loved the bamboo forest and enjoyed dinner and band breakfast at the hana hotel...we also checked out the jazz event at the winery...got talking to a woman who has lived in maui all her life...had lunch but didn't stay for long as the music was too loud...we purposely chose places that were quiet and it was unfortunately too much of a shock to our systems....the Saturday before we left we visited the swap meet at the college but arrived just as most vendors were packing up...we managed to pick up some fantastic macaroons and i treated myself to a beautiful tie-dyed sarong which i wanted for my massage room...it's perfect...the day before we left we peeked in the green goddess in wailuku and i had a very interesting reading...wish i'd had the forethought to record it...thank you again....Jacki

Recent visit to Maui was made better by staying at convenient condo right next to bay and great quiet location. Owners were super helpful and everything in condo needed was there great anticipation and restaurants and sightseeing recommendations. Location fifteen minutes from airport in one direction and twenty minutes to Lahaina the other way so we were well located. Great time, location and friendly owners ... Good job

Aloha Steve...I loved your photos and updates of your Island adventures. It was great knowing you were enjoying yourself. I especially appreciate the photo you took of one of my favorite places. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories. We enjoy helping our guests with any questions they may have, be it a good restaurant, sightseeing cruises which, as you mentioned, is so convenient, since our "hale" is just a few blocks from Maalaea Harbor and all it has to offer or the best beaches to just hang out, relax and enjoy the sand in your toes. Anything to make your visit a memorable one. We were really happy having you as our Guests, remember "Our Hale is Your Hale"

Hi Cheryl I apologize for not getting this out to you sooner but we really wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your condo. You really did make us feel welcomed and very much at home. We could not of asked for a better location on the island. The central location made all outings easy. Everywhere was close. The views were stunning and peaceful. While we were there we joined the Pacific Whale Foundation and went out with twice. They were very knowledgable and since they are just next door to your condo- very convenient. We were there in the middle of November so we were not expecting to see much but we were lucky. We saw a humpback and her juvenile and they both breached right in front of us. It was a spectacular show and if I ever get organized I will send you a very good picture we took of the breach. The condo itself had everything we needed, including a cooler and beach chairs. Thank you again for making our stay in Maui wonderful. What a piece of heaven!

What a lovely time my boyfriend and I had here. The pictures of the place don't even do justice. The view from the lanai was like looking out to paradise...our own little fantasy island. The sunrise was amazing. It was so nice to have our own little beach right out in front of the place. We found out this condo is the only condo on this Maalea Bay strip with both a swimming pool and a hot tub. There is even our very resident turtle that comes to shore at night to sleep and is gone in the morning. Getting to see her close up was even better than going to turtle town. Just don't get too close. There is great snorkeling right on the beach in front of the condo and two snorkel masks are provided with the condo along with beach chairs, towels and a cooler. It was a nice touch to open the fridge and find some Hawaiian chocolates. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensil and pots and pans you need. There is even some staples such as sugar, oil, salt and pepper. Another nice bonus was laundry detergent so you don't have to being your own. There was even sunblock in the bathroom with hairspray and a must have flattening iron. The owners thought of everything. The bed was super comfy. The location was excellent. We were 15 min from the airport, 10 from Kihei and 15 from Lahaina. Our second day we took a snorkeling trip to Molokini right from Maalea Bay Harbor. The food in the Harbor was fantastic as well. There are 2 great restaurants, Beach Bums Bar and Grill and Buzzes Warf. All in all it was a fabulous stay and a little piece of heaven. Thank you so much for allowing us to be guests in your lovely condo for the week. Joanne and Joel

My Response
Mahalo Joel and Joanne....we are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. It is a slice of aloha and away from all the big resorts. I hope they never change that area. By the way the name of the street our Maui "Hale" sits on (Hau'oli) means Happy!!!! We hope and so does Henrietta (the turtle) that you return and visit again. Maui No Ka Oi

Aloha Cheryl, Our stay in your condo was simply wonderful. We loved the view and enjoyed watching the sea turtles at dawn every morning, which was a very nice surprise. We also enjoyed the grounds, the pool and the grill. The condo was equipped with everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again. The only down side was that without the trade winds the bedroom was rather warm - we did attempt to sleep on the pull-out in the living room one night due to that, but that was the only issue. The harbor was great also. We went on several cruises for snorkeling and a sunset dinner excursion. We also enjoyed Beach Bums open air dining and their live music. One of the absolute best dining experiences of our two week stay was at Buzz's Wharf - where we dined on a shared meal of french onion soup, a perfectly charred steak and prawns. Mahalo!
