Description of the Walker vacation home rental

This log cabin home is located on scenic May Lake within the city limits of Walker, MN. It can be rented any time throughout the year. The house is heated and air-conditioned. The location is convenient for hiking, snowmobiling, biking, shopping, and golfing. The home is situated on a sandy beach that provides recreational swimming as well as fishing and boating.

Twenty-one hundred square feet of living space allows for easy entertaining and can accommodate up to twelve for sleeping. This home has four bedrooms (master with walk-in closet and private bathroom) and a loft for sleeping as well as another full bath and a half bath. A lower level family room has a fireplace and a sleeping area. A fully equipped kitchen and laundry room is also included. A spacious deck overlooks the lake and provides an excellent lounging area. DVD player, and cable TV are included for your home entertainment desires. There is large yard
for outside games.

This house is smoke-free. Dogs are welcome at no extra charge. However, dog owners are responsible for any damage and clean up. During June, July, and August a week minimum stay is required.

Area Information

The hard surfaced Heartland biking trail is located right out the front door. The trail runs from Park Rapids to Bemidji. Itasca State Park is just 45 minutes away. Tiana Country Club and Longbow Golf Course, both 18 hole championship courses, are just minutes away.

May Lake has good pan fishing and channels provide access to Long and Third Lakes. There are two public accesses to Leech Lake within a five-minute drive. The town of Walker boasts many fine restaurants, shopping and historic sites. The Northern Lights Casino is only six miles east on Highways 371 and 200.

SUPER Cabin Home on Scenic May Lake

We had such a wonderful time here. There was plenty of room for our group of four families with young children. The kitchen and dining area were good for large group meals. The deck and patio and firepit were well used. We played some in the water and on the beach (a bit weedy right next to the lake). I loved the location (a quick drive to the Leech lake boat landing, the Heartland trail literally right at the end of the driveway, or a quick walk into town). For the most part the home was child friendly and there were so many beds! We didn't even get to use all the cabin had to offer. The owners were extremely wonderful and helpful to work with. There were a few minor things that needed some repair such as some windows handles, a light switch, and a shower latch...but nothing major or nothing that affected the quality of our stay. I would stay here again for sure (hopefully for longer).

Fantastic Weekend!

Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend! It was so much better than we thought it would be. The lake was crystal clear, the home was spacious and homey and located just around the corner from downtown. Right out the backyard was the heartland trail so we could walk the puppies in the morning. Very enjoyable stay, the only regret was we didn't have enough time there.

A Great Getaway

Our family (7 people) spent a week at the "Walker Getaway" over the 4th of July, 2011 and were very happy with the accommodations. The lake home is roomy and clean, the kitchen is well-equipped, the bedrooms are comfortable, and the deck and patio overlooking the lake are great places to relax. The home's multiple levels allow everyone to have some personal space, while the open floor plan allows for a group to gather comfortably. The yard is spacious and private. May Lake is fairly quiet, so you can enjoy the water without having to deal with a lot of boat traffic. We liked being located on the outskirts of town, which made it easy to walk or bike for groceries, a cup of coffee or go shopping. We also liked having the Heartland Trail right across the street. Andy (the landlord) was great to deal with; always responded promptly to questions and wanted to ensure we had a great vacation, which we did. Overall it was a good experience and we would rent this home again.
