Description of the Warsaw vacation cottage rental
Chandler's Knob is a 225 square foot efficiency cottage, newly restored and remodeled in 2012. It is primarily intended for individuals or couples, but there is also a single hide-a-bed for a third person. The open floor plan makes it feel much more spacious than the square-footage would imply.
Comforts include a double bed with all-cotton coverings, a kitchenette with sink, microwave, cooktop, and refrigerator/freezer, a dinette table with chairs, a bathroom with shower, and a living area with hide-a-bed couch and flat-screen TV with DVD player.
WIFI is available, and the heat and air conditioning make it suitable for all seasons - come play in the water or on the ice!
The historic nature of Chandler's Knob has been preserved through the remodel, which means that the ceilings are of varying heights and are relatively low -- the cottage is best suited to people of average height or below. I am roughly 5'11', and am comfortable throughout the building.
We have a pier that guests may use during their visit. The marina just down the street has a launch available if you bring a boat.

Area Information
The Barbee community was born in the early part of the 20th century. The beauty of our chain of lakes drew people from Chicago, Indianapolis and Detroit to come spend their summers fishing, swimming, and enjoying the other vacationing families.
The cottages that were built then were small, simple places to sleep. Over time, most of these have been replaced with full-sized homes, but the resort feeling remains intact. On warm summer evenings, there will be people out for walks, and visiting with neighbors.
The Barbee Chain consists of Big and Little Barbee Lakes, plus Sawmill, Irish, Banning, Kuhn and Sechrist Lakes. Big Barbee is open to waterskiing, while the others are limited to 5mph, making them ideal for fishing or swimming off the boat.
The nearby town of North Webster offers several restaurants, covering American, Mexican, Chinese and Italian foods. We have a full-line grocery store if you prefer to cook for yourself.
Don't forget to plan a cruise on Lake Webster's Dixie boat -- the oldest true stern-wheel paddle boat in Indiana.

Other Vacation Rental Amenities
Sechrist Lake is located in the Barbee Chain of Lakes, an historic lake resort area dating back to the early parts of the 20th century. Nearby are Amish attractions such as Shipshewana (with its world famous flea market), the Wagon Wheel Theater (featuring live theater as well as a steady stream of popular concerts), historic Winona Lake, Grace College, Lake Wawasee (Indiana's largest natural lake), Lake Tippecanoe (Indiana's deepest natural lake), the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area, Lake Webster (famous for its musky fishing. And, don't miss an evening cruise on the Dixie - Indiana's oldest sternwheel paddleboat), and so much more. Just eight miles down the road is the small town of Pierceton, well-known for its numerous antique shops. Barbee has long been a popular spot to enjoy the lakes in a quiet, small community setting, and it is close enough to Elkhart, South Bend, and Fort Wayne to easily take in the city attractions, as well. The Barbee Chain consists of 7 lakes -- Sechrist, Sawmill, Irish, Banning, Little Barbee, Big Barbee, and Kuhn. In addition, smaller boats can travel through Grassy Creek, which adds in Lakes Tippecanoe, James, and Oswego. Fishing is extremely popular throughout the year, and water skiing is available on Big Barbee, as well as on several larger lakes in the area. In the winter, you will find a special quiet relaxation here, and we have outstanding ice fishing on the lakes, or in the many sheltered blind channels. Sechrist Lake itself is deep and clear, as it is fed by several springs. The lake flows out, keeping it clean.
