Area Description

Takoma Park sits right on the DC-Maryland border. It has the charming feel of an old, small town with tree-lined streets and an eclectic mix of bungalows and old victorian houses. Yet it is really close to the city. So if you're looking for a relaxing place to stay while you're taking in the DC sights, this is it.

Downtown Takoma Park, which is two blocks up the street, is charming, with unique local shops and small cafes. The Takoma metro stop is two more blocks away. The stop is on the redline and it takes just 10 minutes to get to Union Station.

There are neighborhood parks scattered throughout Takoma Park. Sligo Creek Park is a lovely escape into the woods and offers running trails and bike paths.
