Description of the Washington vacation cottage rental

This lovely 2 bedroom (master bedroom downstairs; loft) cottage is the perfect place for the perfect vacation. Situated on the edge of our 8 acre bluebery field and surrounded by over 100 acres of woodland, it is your place for peace and solitude after a busy day in Camden (or Rockland), just 25 miles east of us, or Augusta, just 25 miles west of us. It offers all the amenities to make your vacation comfortable: full kitchen, dishwasher, microwave, toaster & coffee maker, laundry, satellite tv, screened porch, deck, 1 bathroom and air-conditioned. It can comfortably sleep 5: King bed in master bedroom and 3 twin beds in loft. For a little extra company we can accommodate 2 more in the pull-out couch in the living room. We are just minutes away from lakes where you can enjoy kayaking, fishing, conoeing, etc...also, near many hiking trails. Enjoy a fabulous fireworks display and join us for our annual 4th of July cookout.

Area Information

The small town of Washington (population: 1200) is equal distances from Rockland and Augusta. It features its blueberry industry and small town feel with the beauty of open fields and undeveloped forests. The people are friendly and helpful in all aspects. We have a restaurant in town that offers breakfast and lunch (dinners on the weekends). Numerous lakes just a few miles from us. Medomak Camp (family camp and retreat center) is just 5 miles from us and Med-O-Lark Camp, a mere 2 miles up the road. Damariscotta State Park just 6 miles from here. Many summer country fairs: Union Blueberry Fair, Windsor Fair, Rockland Lobster Festival, Schooner Days in Camden.

Wonderful Sanctuary

This was our second year renting this cabin. Cyd and Debbie are wonderful hosts, an Cyd has a wicked Maine accent :) The cabin is clean and cozy as well as roomy. The cabins aesthetic is charming and rustic yet it has all the comforts of home. The hosts make sure there is plenty of kindling and wood stocked to keep the wood burning stove going for days. The setting is serene, quiet and beautiful...we will be returning again and again.

Best Vacation Ever

The Zeiglier's are the BEST!!!!! I had the best vacation ever. The cabin was beautiful, cool, comfortable and very homey. Debbie and Cyd are so friendly and accomadating. The weather was beautiful and the property was pretty also. The hiking trail was very invigorating. We all had a great time with the fire pit cooking marshmellows and hot dogs. For the Best Ever Maine Vacation stay at Blueberry Fields. You will have a fabulouse time.

Winter wonderland

My girlfriend and I spent the end of the decade in this cabin (our stay was 12/31/09-1/3/10). Although the weather was treacherous and consequently we were not as mobile as we had hoped to be, we had a wonderful time. I figure that most people would consider this remote cabin in the woods for a spring or summer vacation, but we had an amazing time in the middle of the snow and freezing cold. The cabin is very well kept, quaint, and charming. Cyd and Debbie were incredibly friendly and helpful without being too present. If you are looking to get away from everything and just relax by a wood burning stove this is the place. Can't recommend it highly enough. Cheers, Joe

Felt like home

I was lucky to rent this property for 2 whole months this summer. I quickly settled into this cabin and it felt like home. This cabin has every amenity one would need, including a completely stocked kitchen. Washington is a very lovely and quiet town, and in close proximity to the coast, lakes, and forests. If you time your stay well, you can benefit from the blueberry field in the front yard! Best of all, the Zieglers are amazing hosts and it's obvious they love creating an enjoyable stay for their guests.

What a great pleasure it was for me to be among the first guests at the beautiful new Blueberry Fields B&B in Washington, I marvelled at the incredible interior with all that fabulous wood. The lovely front porch is a place where I would love to have spent many more hours just reading and relaxing. The fact that each suite has its own entrance is something I have rarely sen at B&B's.
