The log cabin features richly hued knotty pine throughout, with modern upgrades, while maintaining its original Alaskan history and charm. A queen size bedroom, sleeper sofa, and two double futons accommodate up to six people. The full size kitchen, living room, and porch areas provide plenty of space to "feel at home". The cabin front offers expansive views of the lake and two mountain ranges, including the Hatcher's Pass area directly across from the cabin. Two decks, one lakeside and one with a gas BBQ overlooking the perennial flower beds and garden area, add to your enjoyment of this “one-of-a-kind” Alaskan setting!
Sip your coffee while listening to the call of the loon echo across the pristine waters of Cottonwood Lake. Or, sit on the dock and watch the trout jump in the evening glow of a long summer night as an eagle glides directly above. Better yet, wet a line with one of our trout poles and catch a rainbow trout for dinner. Explore the lake in the paddleboat, canoe or tandem kayak (lifejackets provided). Take a swim off our dock and soak in those warm summer days on the floating dock. Roast marshmallows and share stories around the lakeside fire pit. Relax and let time stand still!
Enjoy a place where time stands still, and breathtaking beauty abounds! Please note that the owner's home is next to the cabin.

My wife and two daughters, 8 & 10 stayed for 3 nights after a 7-day cruise. We chose this property because it was centrally located between Anchorage and Denali Park. It was a long 4-hour drive to Denali Park but we wanted the amenities that Wasilla had to offer ... restaurants and local attractions; plus it was only 45-minutes from Anchorage airport. When we drove up, I thought to myself ... Loon's Nest is more beautiful than their website pictures. Inside the cabin you have a beautiful picture window where you can have breakfast and stare out at the lake. The property is very well-maintained and what you see in pictures is what you get but there's more. The owners, Ron and Cindy, are the friendliest people and were very attentive upon our arrival. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all the extra things so you only needed to provide food. We needed a washer-dryer, it worked perfectly. One thing we learned was that it does not get dark in summertime Wasilla. While the bedroom could be darkened, the shades for the living room and inside porch area did not completely darken the room. It didn’t bother our daughters too much but others may have a problem sleeping in the rooms other than the bedroom. For Floridians the evening fires at their lakeside firepit which Ron graciously built for us were ideal. The cabin had the Smores necessities which my daughters loved. We had perfect weather and nice warm sun so we took out the canoe and paddleboat and spent a lot of time sitting at the dock. My daughters also took advantage the cabin's fishing poles; they didn't catch anything but it was a lot of fun. They also loved running and playing on Ron's well maintained lawn and their family trampoline. Two questions from my daughters: "Can we stay here for a month?" and "Can we come back next year?" tells you how much my family enjoyed Loon's Nest. I did tell Ron that he had my dream vacation home. We would recommend the property to any couple or small family looking for the cabin on the lake getaway.

This cabin is a perfect place for a vacation! It is very comfortable, peaceful and the scenery is spectacular. The cabin is well appointed - it even came with homemade pancake mix and some salmon. We really appreciated the dock with fishing poles and kayak provided. Ron and Cindy are great hosts; they were always willing to offer help and guidance. I hope to return again someday and will definately recommend this property to family and friends.

We had a great time at the Loon's Nest. The owners, Ron and Cindy, were very helpful and went above and beyond meeting our needs and wants. The cabin met our expectations and the views were fabulous. We had two sunny days and took advantage of swimming from the dock and trying out the paddleboat and kayak. Highly recommend for a couple or small family.

Hideaway on Cottonwood Lake. A real find. Kayak, canoe, or just look out the window from the dining table during meals. Charming hosts and to the comfortable ambiance.

We LOVED this cabin, wish we could have moved in permanently. Very comfortable, well stocked with supplies (linens, cookware) and very nice hosts. The ONLY drawback we found was it was interesting to find at first as it is off the beaten path-just what I wanted-close to things so we could get places but when on property, you felt the peace and tranquility of being away from suburbia. Highly recommend, can't wait to stay again !

"Thank you for a wonderful time in your very comfortable and well-appointed cabin. The view is breathtaking, and we thoroughly enjoyed the time on your lake. We loved hearing the loons and watching the eagles fly right overhead!"

"You're cabin is one of the most picturesque places I've ever visited, and your warmth and hospitality were wonderful! Loved the long summer days and the late nights visiting around the fire pit. Just a plug, the cheeseburger from Little Miller's was the BEST, just like you said!"
