Located in south central Alaska, on the shores of Cottonwood Lake in the heart of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Alaska Loon’s Nest Cabin Rental is centrally located between Palmer and Wasilla on seven secluded acres, yet within minutes of town and attractions. We’re only 40 minutes from Anchorage and three hours from Denali National Park. Come stay in a truly Alaskan log cabin on a pristine trout-filled floatplane sized lake, surrounded by the Talkeetna and Chugach Mountain Ranges.

The log cabin features richly hued knotty pine throughout, with modern upgrades, while maintaining its original Alaskan history and charm. A queen size bedroom, sleeper sofa, and two double futons accommodate up to eight people. The full size kitchen, living room, and porch areas provide plenty of space to "feel at home". The cabin front offers expansive views of the lake and two mountain ranges, including the Hatcher's Pass area directly across from the cabin. Two decks, one lakeside and one with a gas BBQ overlooking the perennial flower beds and garden area, add to your enjoyment of this “one-of-a-kind” Alaskan setting!

Sip your coffee while listening to the call of the loon echo across the pristine waters of Cottonwood Lake. Or, sit on the dock and watch the trout jump in the evening glow of a long summer night as an eagle glides directly above. Better yet, wet a line with one of our trout poles and catch a rainbow trout for dinner. Explore the lake in the paddleboat, canoe or rowboat (lifejackets provided). Take a swim off our dock and soak in those warm summer days on the floating dock. Roast marshmallows and share stories around the lakeside fire pit. Relax and let time stand still!

Wintertime? Wonderland time! Watch the Aurora Borealis dance across the sky, listen to the ice take on a voice of its own as it contracts and expands, ice fish, ice skate, cross country ski, or snowmobile as conditons permit. Available October to May at low season rates. Ideal for professional couples, traveling itinerants, or for temporary housing during transitions during this time.

• Deposits: First night's deposit required to guarantee reservation. Stays of 3 or more nights require a 50% deposit at time of reservation. Balance due upon arrival. Minimum age required. All cancellations must be made 30 days prior to the arrival date for a refund minus a $25 processing fee. Refunds for cancellations with less than 30 days notice will be dependent on the lodging being rebooked. All cancellations must be in writing. Winter Rates: 3 night minimum, stays over 60 days tax exempt
   
• Other Fees: Rates based on double occupancy. $15 for each additional person, per night, up to eight people (6 adults). Children 12 and under stay free. Our cabin is NON-smoking. Any damage resulting from cigarette/cigar smoke will be charged a minimum $100 and up to the full financial repair of damage. Use of cabin, property, docks, and lakefront for paying guests only, unless prior arrangements have been made with owners.

We LOVED this cabin, wish we could have moved in permanently. Very comfortable, well stocked with supplies (linens, cookware) and very nice hosts. The ONLY drawback we found was it was interesting to find at first as it is off the beaten path-just what I wanted-close to things so we could get places but when on property, you felt the peace and tranquility of being away from suburbia. Highly recommend, can't wait to stay again !
