Country oasis with spa luxury, November 18, 2009
By Karen Eileen (Alexandria, VA USA)
OK, you drive out into the middle of no-where Tennessee, pull into the driveway of the cottage - and there is a beautiful view of the hills, a hot tub bubbling (with soft robes), a basket of homemade bread and treats waiting - and little luxury touches everywhere. I was tempted never to leave the porch, but did manage to do some hiking around the 100 acre farm, fishing in the pond, and put away a delicious farm-hardy breakfast (best sausage EVER). We don't have kids, but think this would be a run-around fun place for them too. It was just so quiet and peaceful... And the stars at night - we couldn't get over how many we could see! The proprietors are just lovely people, caring but not obtrusive. I stay at B&B's everywhere and few meet these high standards; especially at these reasonable rates (in VA you'd pay twice as much). If I lived in TN, I'd be tempted to go every month!

 Wow!, August 23, 2009
By Vance Hinch (Leesburg, VA, USA)
Incomparable! The best ever! Old world elegance in a stunning mountain setting. Pinecone is a luxury resort by itself – the cottage is beautifully and completely furnished with a full complement of amenities that ensure that the needs of either a large, active family or a couple on a romantic weekend are met. Extraordinary value! We live in the Mid-Atlantic region near Washington, D.C. and a comparable cottage on the Chesapeake Bay or in the Shenadoah Valley would be triple the cost and be full all the time. Your hosts are incredibly warm and charming. The country breakfasts, the homemade bread, the fresh baked pizza cannot be missed. We (and all the friends and relatives that we can talk into it) will be back. Our dog loved it also.

Great Dog vacation, May 10, 2009
By Richard Fletcher (Navarre, FL)
My wife and I spent 7 days in this cabin with our two dogs. It was a great place with lots of room for the dogs to play in the big field. The cabin was very pet friendly with the hardwood, and tile floors. The covered car port and pourch area made it nice for the rainy days. Will be staying here on our next trip to the area.

Great family getaway, May 4, 2009
By esther winslow (archdale,nc)
The cabin was a great expeience for me and my family. We stayed for 2 days, and it was great. The hot tub was the best thing of all. We really enjoyed the game shed, horseshoes, and all the walking trails. The fishing pond was also great. The layout of the cabin was awesome, and the craftman's ship was something else. I would rent the cabin again and reccomend it to anyone wanting to get away from everyday life.

 What a perfect place!, November 21, 2008
By Cece (Nashville, Tennessee)
What a perfect place for a quiet weekend getaway! We actually stayed at the neighboring Honeysuckle Cottage on the same 145 acre farm. The cottage is lovely with many unique and thoughtful touches in every room. The view is beautiful, especially from the oh-so-comfortable bed in the master bedroom or from the deck, looking across the field to the mountains beyond. We enjoyed everything about this place - taking a walk around the farm in the afternoon, coming back to a cozy fire, and soaking in the hot tub at night. The setting is secluded and romantic but close enough to a nearby general store if needed for some forgotten item. Our hosts were warm and gracious. This listing is everything it promises and more!

6/12/09 It was like staying at a top grade European spa only this one has a mountain view. The homemade pizza was the best we ever had. The owners were two of the nicest and most helpful people we have ever known.

10/16/09 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pinecone cottage. Ilaeka and Papa Phil are great hosts. Everything was as good as promised. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the area. Anyone who enjoys the outdoors and the beauty of the Cumberland Plateau will love to stay here. Make sure to take advantage of the food. It is fantastic! We hope to return sometime.

10/17/09 What a beautiful place to have a Scottish outdoor wedding! The cool, brisk fall weather added with the bagpipes and a breathtaking view made the experience unforgetable for our family.
Our stay was enjoyable from the moment we drove up to the farmhouse where we were greeted with a smile and warm welcome. The cottages were delightful - loaded with everything you could possibly need - and more!
It was also the perfect location to bring four young kids (6,4,4 & 4). They loved hiking to the fish pond and waterfalls, building a fire and exploring the farm. They didn't want to come home.
We also got to enjoy the most delicous breakfast out on the porch our last morning. It was a fantastic way to end a wonderful weekend! Thank you Ilaeka and Papa Phil! We WILL definitely be making plans to come back.
Sincerely,
The McPhersons

We live only 45 minutes away from Grandview Cottages but had never heard of them, but oh my, what a surprise when we checked them out for accommodations for our daughter's future inlaws as they planned to come to Tennessee for her wedding.

The area was so beautiful, in fact, that we decided to have the wedding ceremony there! The cottages themselves are beautifully and comfortably decorated, with the simplicity that says thoughtfulness and good taste were major factors in the furnishings. Our daughter's wedding was a very special day and owners Phil and Ilaeka were so wonderful to work with--we feel as though they are part of our family! You will not be disappointed if you plan a visit to the cottages--beautiful vistas, nature trails, fishing pond--and a quiet, peacefulness permeates this secluded piece of paradise.

You can read all about the amenities, but what you can't see there is the genuine care and concern Papa Phil and Ilaeka have for their guests. So, go and see for yourselves. You will not be disappointed!

10/21/09 On October 17, 2009, Lee McPherson and I were
married in a private ceremony behind Pinecone
Cottage. The trees were tipped with crimson and
ocher, and the view was spectacular. The crisp fall
weather, the rolling hills, the overcast sky, and the
bagpiper transported us to faraway Scotland. Our
wedding was everything we hoped for, and it would
not have been possible without the hospitality and
helpfulness of Ilaeka and Papa Phil. Instead of the
traditional rehearsal dinner, we had a delicious
breakfast on the farmhouse porch the morning
after the wedding. Papa Phil and Ilaeka served us
family-made sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit,
heirloom flour pancakes, homemade coffee cake,
freshly squeezed juice and an array of homemade
jams. However, while the accommodations were
comfortable, the amenities luxurious, and the food
delicious, it was the opportunity to share our
special weekend with our gracious hosts that made
Grandview Mountain Cottages the perfect choice
for our wedding.

04/28/09 We really enjoyed our stay in the Pinecone cabin. The house is decorated so beautifully. And the owners have thought of everything someone would need to cook up some great meals. The view off the back deck is beautiful. And we enjoyed the fish pond and the pastures. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone.

04/14/09 Absolute best value...We have rented several cabins over the years and Pinecone at Grandview Mountain Cottages far exceeds all expectations. Gloriously clean. The host has provided for your every want or need with amazing attention to detail. Nature provides a beautiful background for this special retreat. After a restful stay I feel as though I have secret to share. PINECONE

04/13/09 Sophistication, elegance, polish and modern style meet country charm and romance!! The blend is phenomenal! You have thought of everything, and we were so very pleased with our accommodations. The organic atmosphere is a definite plus, including the whole house water filtration system. We felt at home from the moment we walked in the door. The Pinecone Cottage is highly recommended by us, for anyone seeking ultramodern conveniences within the cottage, plus the simple back to nature pleasures of reading for hours in a hammock - and listening to the birds and breezes! We have to mention the hot tub and spa robes, such pampering!! We will definitely be back, to experience the breakfasts everyone is raving about in your guest book. THANK YOU for sharing your cottage with us.

03/01/09 What a wonderful place for a private getaway! Beautiful surroundings, perfectly decorated cottage, great amenities (we particularly enjoyed the hot tub and Papa Phil's food deliveries)...would highly recommend to anyone!

11/18/08 We so enjoyed our stay in the most comfortable cabin we have ever rented. Every little detail to ensure that our visit was whatever we needed or wanted it to be was thought of right down to gourmet pizza delivery and a fabulous country breakfast at the main farmhouse.
Dana Byrd, Murfreesboro,TN

11/03/08 My husband and I spent a week here in this beautiful house. My initial intention during the visit was to go out every night for dinner and not go near the kitchen. When we arrived, I decided I wanted to go to the grocery store and stock up and hibernate. We had such a wonderful romantic time and the house feels like a home and is beautiful. We cooked, ate, sat by the fireplace, played in the hot tub, sat by the fire pit, hung in the hammock and fished in the pond. Our special treats included the warm hospitality by the owners. Fresh baked bread and home churned butter were delivered to our door step! On the last day we ate at the farm house and got to know our host, papa Phil and our hostess, Ileika. There are the most wonderful people we have met in a very long time. This place rocks!
Tresa Stein, North Palm Beach, Fl

01/05/09 The Tennessee mountains are always gorgeous in the fall, but the view from the master bedroom of the Great Smoky foothills is absolutely wonderful.

The cottage is easy to reach, but truly feels secluded. The interior is impeccable. So unexpected in a simple mountain cottage!

""We came here seeking time away from a hectic lifestyle. We found wonderful natural peaceful and satisfying accomodations...early mornings running on your hills (which we will tell people back home "mountains", middle of the day at the pond pulling in the "big one", rest and peace of cool nights... We enjoyed visiting with our hosts and experiencing the great country breakfast. First Class accomodation with much more than we expected." (Aug 2008-The Holder Family-Indiana)
08/21/08 A warm THANKS for this SPLENDID vacation time in a wonderful Tennessee setting. We came from France and it was a perfect stop to RELAX during our holidays in the States.
The cottage is just ...a Jewel ! Worth a 5 stars hotel ! Perfect for a (2+2) family time, allowing privacy for the parents !! The kids & parents loved the hot tube, under the stars, with candle lights. But also the fish pond (first fishing experience for kids), the firepit, the nature, the cooking ( ah..the country breakfast, and pizzas of Papa Phil!!)...
Wonderful people, Wonderful place ! And so many things to enjoy in the area: horses, hiking, lakes, rivers...Kids loved it. We'll be back !
The Marcade's, Paris, France

10/24/08 If you are looking for a peacefull romantic getaway this is the perfect place. My wife and I spent our 29th anniversary in the pinecone cotage. It was everything we hoped it would be and more! We'll be back to stay in the honeysuckle cottage next year!
