Riverfront House on St. Johns River & Lake George
Located on the Fruitland Cove along the historic St. Johns River just north of Lake George. This romantic "get-away" house is tucked among a canope of live oaks, facing west towards the Ocala National Forest, where you will find the sunsets breath taking from our covered boat dock. Lake George is three miles south by boat, and it has long been known as the "Bass Capital of the World". In days gone by, Spanish gallions sailed to the mouth of Lake George for fresh water and rice from a native settlement on an island that pre-dates St. Augustine. History and romance await you here at Pauline's Paradise. If you aren't into fishing - the birds, view and an occasional manatee under the dock will just add to your enjoyment of this vacation paradise.

Lazy River Memories
July 29, 2014
Enjoyed the property so much. The property listing was very accurate. The pictures do not do this home and dock area justice. We spent most of our time outside on the dock. The wonderful breeze made anytime comfortable in the July heat. Pauline has stocked the house and property with everything! We hope to return.

Great Weekend Get Away
July 20, 2014
My husband and I had a great weekend. It was nice to have the covered boat dock so we didn't have to get the boat in out of the water everyday. Great view and very nice home. Ms. Pauline was extremely nice and everything was as she said it would be. Very quiet and relaxing area.

Owner greeted us not properly dressed. ROACHES on floor everyday. When told of them, the owner said if they are their backs, then they are dead. Personal belongings in bath, closets and dressers. Had to put them in boxes or move some to other cottage. Jacuzzi and dishwasher did not work. Lights in kitchen were not wired. Cupboard was missing. Bath ceiling was coming apart. Owner was very intrusive. Etc. Owner told us if she got a bad review from people who left early she can delete them.
Dear Ed, I'm sorry you were disappointed, As a rule most of my guests comment about the house being more beautiful than they expected. I did what I could to make you all happy, even purcasing a new grill for use. I am aware the jacuzzi does not work and I removed it from the add. The dishwasher is working. Everything in the house is in top shape with the exception of a few repairs that come along. I feel that
some people you just can't please no matter what you do.
Great Fishing and Country Living!
March 18, 2014
My wife & I had a great month at Pauline's River House! I enjoyed fishing almost every day and certainly enjoyed the covered boat dock with lift. Biggest fish was 10 pounds, 9 ounces, a personal best! My wife enjoyed sewing on the Lani, with the great light and wonderful view. The place is peaceful and our hostess, Pauline, was accomodating and very gracious ... we love her! My wife enjoyed the large kitchen and we enjoyed the large HDTV in the evenings. A perfect place to get away. We also found the local restaurant had a wonderful variety of good food at resonable prices. If you seek a restful retreat, this is the place!
David and Esther, I can't say enough kind words about you both! What a team you are. I really appreciate the nice review, it means so much. I couldn't be happier about the big bass you caught. It was the largest bass my guests ever caught during their stay. If Astor gets too crowed for you or there's too much traffic, there's always 2016! You all are welcome to come back anytime! God surely blessed me by having you both as my guests. Keep in touch with me. Pauline

Nice relaxing weekend!
September 6, 2013
We were looking for a place to just relax and enjoy a long weekend. This was the perfect place! Quiet, beautiful, and laid-back. Pauline was the perfect hostess. She fished with us -- even let us use her new tackle! And the last night we had a fish fry with her. Best hush puppies I've had in a long time! The house has all the amenities you could need. Snowbirds could easily spend a winter here. The river and lake offer tons of opportunities for boating and fishing. Lake George is on the edge of the Ocala Nat'l Forest, which has myriad hiking trails, and there are springs nearby with a swimming beach. You can make your stay here as active or as lazy as you like.
What a Review, Thank you for taking the time to send such a nice review.I really had a fun time cook-en up them fish and the hush puppies turned over in the hot oil like they are suppose to when they get done on one side.I hope you folks can come again soon,oh PS I caught a Red Bass (my first) the other day.He was 15 inches long but I kept and cooked him anyway.I thank God for Pauline's Paradise and that I can share it with folke like you. Thank you Pauline Dunn.
Perfect for our family
August 11, 2013
This was a perfect place for our southern way of life, and very accommodating for our family of five. We brought two boats , which were housed nicely within the dock area, fishing and boating at our pleasure with absolutely no problem. Ms. Pauline was a gracious hostess, providing great side dishes and joining us for an evening fish friy. Memories of this vacation will last a life time. Many thanks to Ms.Pauline and we hope to return again. Phil, Karen, Ben, Nick and Joseph

A wonderful holiday!
July 24, 2012
My son and I came to stay at "Pauline's Paradise" while on a Hog Hunting trip and it was truly a paradise! Ms. Dunn is the epitome of a charming and genteel hostess. The "River House" is a lovely accomodation with all the comforts of home. We fished and crabbed from the dock each day and were delighted with the fare from the St. John's River. The house is situated within easy driving distance of Daytona, St. Augustine and Orlando. It was well worth the drive.
Paradise found on the St. Johns!
June 26, 2012
My husband and I take a trip In June every year for our wedding anniversary and this year our 13th, we discovered Pauline's Paradise. Miss Pauline is the sweetest lady you could ever meet. We stayed for a week in the River House, which was really spacious and cozy. The kitchen has all the utensils and cookware that you need. My husband had brought all kinds of grilling gear and didn't use any of it. He had never crabbed before and had a good time catching crabs with miss Pauline's traps. She taught him how to bait them up. We caught fish every day... Bluegill, redbreasted brim and catfish. We caught shiners off the dock to use for live bait. The view from the house and dock are absolutely beautiful. We took our boat and them had trouble with it on the third day so we just fished from the dock and still caught fish. It was the most paid back relaxing vacation that we have ever taken. Will definitely be a return guest. Would like to go for just long weekends even. Really nice!
The Most Beautiful View of the St. Johns River!
June 8, 2012
We stayed in the house that Miss Pauline has at this location. It was clean, the beds comfortable, and the view was outstanding. Like being in another time and so relaxing. Miss Pauline is a sweet heart and makes sure every one is happy. The fishing was excellent. We caught 15 in a few hours, not far from the house. Thanks again, Pauline.
Pauline's Paradise is wonderful....
April 19, 2012
My wife and I stayed for a week and had the best time. As the other reviewers stated, the house is very nice, kitchen fully equipped with everything you would want, and a nice comfortable bed. Pauline is a sweetheart. We would love to come back and stay again. Rented a boat just down the road at Bass World every day. Pick it up in the morning, come back to the house, take off fishing and cruising for the day and have the boat back to the marina by 5. This made a most enjoyable vacation. And, our favorite part- Sitting on the dock every evening watching the sunset. Thanks Pauline. Hope to see you in the future. And if you want to sell your place in the next few years, how about giving me a shout!!! Doug and Debbie

Our stay was more than we anticipated, Paulines home was very comfortable, clean and the kitchen was stocked with all the appliances and cookware you needed. The view from the dock was breath taking, we were able to dock our 22' boat. We have been going to various places on the St Johns river for the past 5 years for the Thanksgiving holiday, and have not found a nicer place than this. We enjoy the fishing, which was exceptional this trip. Lots of crappie, blue gill, and bass. If you are looking for some tranquility and beauty, this is the place. Pauline is a very southern hospitable host, who wants to make sure your stay is what you expected or more. We hope to make this our annual trip.

After a wonderful weekend, both my husband and I want to get away again. Being right on the water in a comfortable house with western views, along with sightings of eagles and other wild life make this place very special. Bring your boat, your favorite company and celebrate life. Pauline is close by, if you need anything, and doesn't get offended if you ask for privacy. She is a delightful person and the River House truly is "Pauline's Paradise".
A Great Place
September 11, 2011
What a wonderful place to stay very clean and everything you might need is there. Pauline is a wonderful lady who makes your stay just that much more special. Have to say it was one of the nices cottages on water we ever stead in. Every year we pick a differant place on water. This was so relaxing. Pauline the owner is a gem. We were given a homemade pie & a cake. Also she shared a watermelon with us. We enjoyed being out on the dock fishing & just telling stories with her. Were it is located you can go to St. Augstine, Flager Beach, Daytona Beach. Your pretty close to alot of areas. If you want peace & Quiet, plus some fishing call Pauline. We had a great time. Great place to stay
July 18, 2011
My wife and I spent a week at Pauline's riverfront home. It was nicely decorated, very comfortable and very clean. There are windows across the back of the house that faces the river giving you a great view. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you might desire and the beds are comfortable. There is a pub less than a mile away that has very good food. Within 5 miles there are another two fine restaurants, one upscale and slightly pricey but the food is great and plentiful. I always want to know about fishing so here goes. We fished from the dock and caught fish every day, around 35 - 40 during the week along with 19 keeper crabs. There are two traps at the house although we caught most of the crabs on a fishing rod baited with a small dead fish (you just have to net them before they hit the surface or they will drop off and reel them in slowly). We didn't get up early to fish or stay out late and most days we did not fish the full day. There are huge catfish and my tackle was not heavy enough to bring them in. The dock is covered which protected us from the rain and sun and generally there was a nice breeze. The dock can house two boats and has lifts. Pauline was very friendly and helpful with all our needs.

My husband and I stayed here for our 7th wedding anniversary weekend. We brought our boat and had the best time boating the St John's River and Lake George. It has a very nice dock with two boat slips. The house was estremely clean with plently of linens and the kitchen has everything you could imagine in it. Pauline is the nicest lady, she dropped by on our final night of our stay with a homemade lemon cake that she baked for us. She even shared the recipe with me. :) We have already recommended this place to other and plan on returning ourselves. Bobby & Anita

The most peaceful place we have ever stayed, and the "River Cottage" was immaculately clean and very comfortably decorated.. We enjoyed fishing off the pier, and caught a wide variety of fish. The owner, Pauline, surprised us with a delicious home cooked meal. This place is a 10 in my book and we will definitely return again in the future. Thank you Pauline for a memorable stay. Heavenly Vacation Rental

It's often hard to find the perfect vacation rental, but we certainly found a little piece of Heaven when we found the River House. The sunsets were amazing, different each day. The house was furnished beautifully with all the needed ammenities. The owner, Pauline, is a jewel. She is someone you will love forever and she certainly knows how to make you feel welcome and loved. I would highly recommend this rental.
