Description of the Wellfleet vacation home rental
Walk to town from this quiet, newly renovated home just one street away from Main St. The first floor has a large living room, den with cable TV & DVD player. The newly renovated bathroom has a shower and right outside the bathroom there is a laundry room with a new stackable washer and dryer. There is a large eat in kitchen with a new screened in porch off of the kitchen for evening dining sans mosquitos. The kitchen was gutted during the month of December & the new kitchen is now completed. There is now a dishwasher, induction cooktop, wall oven and a french door fridge with ice & water. There is a deck next to the screened in porch with another large table for eating outside as well. Next to that deck is an outdoor shower, so inviting that you may never take another shower indoors after showering under the sun! There is a quaint garden shed near the house abutting the patio. There is a metal trash can in front of the shed for your recyclables. To the left of the shed is a wooden trash shed/box with 2 trash pails inside for you to put your trash until it is picked up. There are flower & vegetable gardens surrounding the patio. The patio has a couch & chairs and small tables. Since we have a number of gardens, you are welcome to cut flowers while you are here & to compost your veggies & fruits in a large composter set back from the house.

The second floor has one bedroom with a king size bed, a bedroom with a queen bed, a renovated bedroom with a double bed, bamboo flooring, cathedral ceiling with 2 skylights and a magnetic blackboard complete with colored chalk for your kids or the kid in you, a sitting room with a wall of windows which we use as a quiet reading room. There is a full bath and the new bamboo hallway leads to a door onto the Mahogany deck complete with table and chairs.

There is a patio in front of the house with a table and chairs overlooking the garden with steps down to the street. A new cobblestone driveway leads to the side door. The house is landscaped with flowers & vegetables for you to pick!

The house is pet friendly with a large library of children's books and games as well as an extensive library of cookbooks and novels. Sheets and towels are provided, if you want to use them we expect you to wash & dry them. There are also beach chairs, noodles & boogie boards. There is even a large dog bed in the reading room & various water bowls placed around the patios if you bring that other member of the family!

Wellfleet is known as the Gallery Town for having over 25 galleries in & around town. On Saturday evenings most galleries have openings & you will find people strolling from gallery to gallery.

Located 75 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean, Wellfleet offers quaint rural seaside charm and spectacular natural resources. The Atlantic Ocean is on Wellfleet's east shore; Cape Cod Bay is on the west shore. 61% of Wellfleet's land is in the Cape Cod National Seashore Park.

Bay and ocean beaches, fresh water ponds, (13 town beaches in all plus Marconi National Seashore beach!) bike trails, galleries, restaurants, antique dealers, drive-in / multi-screen movie theater, weekend flea market. The new town pier has a marina, boat launching ramp and numerous boat slips. Several churches in town play host to musical performances & children's theater.

Just a 10 minute drive from town is the National Audubon Society where you can take self-guiding tours through the wetlands, around ponds & through the woods. There are classes for children in the mornings- a mini camp & classes for adults (kayaking, canoeing, seal watching, bird watching, etc.) throughout the day & some nights. Just past the Audubon Society on Route 6 is the flea market at one of the few drive-ins left in this country. Every night there is a double feature at the drive-in.

The library is the heart of the town with our head librarian, Elaine McIlroy having been chosen in 2009 by the NY Times & the National Library Association as one of ten winners nationwide of the "I Love My Librarian Award" There is an auditorium in the library where you will find the walls being used as an art gallery & the space being utilized for films, poetry readings, lectures & musical performances almost every day & night. There is a vast library of DVDs available, a wonderful children's library with games & puzzles available as well as the books. There is a reading room of periodicals & newspapers and a large bank of computers for your use as well as WiFi inside as well as on the porch of the library.

Do you love oysters & clams? Wellfleet Oysters are known worldwide for their sweetness & you can order them at any of the numerous restaurants in town or you can gather them yourself. Shellfish licenses are available for purchase down at the pier shack where you purchase your beach stickers. Beach Stickers give you access to all of the ponds in addition to the Wellfleet beaches.

I can go on forever talking about this town that I love!

Family Get-Together

We found the home to provide ample space for the seven of us to be together and also, be alone when we wanted. The house is large and the modern bathrooms and recently updated kitchen provided all the modern conveniences. The location is great; close to town and many restaurants. We loved the beaches and had a beach fire at Marconi Beach. Our favorite place to be together at breakfast and in the evenings was the screened-in porch. We had a west coast dog and an east coast dog; both of them enjoyed the home and all the dog toys available (two paws up!). Rosalie is a great host and responded quickly to any questions we had.

Relaxing, close to town

Our stay was excellent. The house was close to downtown with a fabulous outdoor space to relax before and after the beach. Don't let the proximity to highway 6 on Google maps worry you. In reality it's far enough from the highway that you won't notice it. Inside was well equipped and very comfortable with everything we could possibly need. I can’t say enough goo things about Wellfleet and Rosalie made sure our vacation was awesome.

Wellfleet well-stocked

We stayed pre-peak season in this house which we chose for proximity to Wellfleet and dog-friendliness. We loved Wellfleet and the house was kitted with lots of toys for our pup. The house is well-stocked with towels, beach chairs, kitchen tools, etc and is on a quiet street. We weren't enamored with the Cape, but thought Wellfleet was the best bit of it!
