Description of the Wells vacation cottage rental
Our cottage is located just off Route 1 in Wells. The Water Crest complex has multiple cottages. Each one is individually owned and decorated. Ours (we think) is very special & we try hard to make it like home for our guest. It was built in 1940 and we have totally renovated but tried to keep the look of the 40's & 50's. It has one large bedroom with 2 double beds(new box & mattresses). The kitchen dining area is one room with all new appliances. We have a large bath (Handicapped safety bars) with constant hot water on demand a hairdryer & curling iron. The front porch is glass/screen enclosed for sitting out in the evening. All dishes, pots, pans & lobster pot provided. New windows, floors, refrigerator, gas stove, AC/Heat unit, microwave, toaster coffeemaker, etc. Cable, New Flat Screen TV/New VCR/DVD player, movies, games & books. There is a gas grill & table out front & a play/sports area in the field. We do not provide linens. The service is available at the office for a small fee.
The heated pool is over on the front row of cottages with a nice Hot Relaxing New Spa. We picked this cottage because it is on a corner lot & is quiet. Free Laptop hook up,library, washers & dryers are under the office. We also have free WIFI in our cottage. Our telephone is for local calls & messages.
Please leave us a note/review here or in our Guest Book if you stay! Ideas that make the cottage more comfortable are always welcome from you & we have made changes because of your input.
Check in is 3:30PM & check out is 10:00AM so the cottage can be cleaned. Our association will require a credit card imprint for security deposit against loss or damage.
Will accept well trained small dogs. There are special "Dog Guest Tags" in the dog box. Please place one on your dog while here, so if for some reason the dog is lost then this will provide a quick safe return for our special guest. Please, you must keep yard clean. Water Crest does not accept Cats. The Board of Directors made this decision as of 2014. Water Crest will not allow designated "restricted breeds" by our insurance provider. RB= Akita, American Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Chow,Doberman Pinscher, English Bull Terrier, German Shepard, Korean Jindo, Presa Canario, Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Wolf or any mixture of the above breeds.
Area Information
Our Cottage has easy access to the Wells Trolley Line to the beaches, shopping etc. There are two parking spaces in front of our cottage & we suggest that you leave the car parked & take the Trolley in high season. The Trolley goes out Mile Road & makes a couple of Beach stops. I believe it is $1.00 a ride (not sure). The schedule is in our office.

Mike's Clam Shack & the Steak House are both a short walk down route 1. Mike's has a Lobster Pound so you can bring the little critters home to cook...(the pot is under the sink)or they will cook them no extra charge, to go.

Very, very close, there is a little truck grill with Lobster Rolls, Clam Chowder, etc. Go across the play field & behind the BIG house then up to Route 1. The white truck is always parked there. You can sit outside & eat or bring it home.

Some points of interest are the Kittery Outlets, Ogunquit Playhouse and the beautiful Rachel Carson Preserve. Wells has 7 miles of fine sandy beaches!! Also lots of great food. We like The MAINE DINNER! Good food, nice prices.

We left many brochures of all kinds under the table on the porch.

Directions: Take the Maine Turnpike from north or south to exit 19 WELLS. Take a left turn at the light (just past the toll booth) on to Rt. 109. This will take you to Route 1. At the traffic light turn right. WATER CREST is 1/2 mile ahead on your left. The office is you first stop next to the sign. Irene & staff are friendly & helpful. Your new vacation home is cottage #109. For those returningWelcome Back!

Cottage # 109 is just so cozy. Plenty of room for 2 people with a dog. Bandit made some new doggie friends, we met some great people who were staying there as well. Nice and quiet, clean pool area was nice and clean, even had it to myself one day amazing. Close to all kinds of beaches and attractions and one of my favorites Veranos Italian restaurant. Had asked for an early check in was advised fine , check in was smooth , check out was smooth all in all a great vaction cant wait to go back next year. Bandit gives this cottage a high 5 paw rating !! Cheryl, Lori and Bandit

Owner's reply:

WOW Cheryl! Bandit gave our Cottage 5 Paws!! I will have to go into the Guest Dog box and add something. May be some special treats made in The Villages, FL doggie store.....yes even even the dogs are spoiled in this big retirement community. We think you came at the right time because it is a little crazy in July & August. Glad things went well & appreciate your nice note. Take Care & good health to you all & of course Bandit too! Sue

Great Place To Stay

A very quaint set up. Our cottage had everything we needed. It was conveniently located for our plans. We would stay here again, especially in the off season and it was dog friendly.

Sue Scipione

Owner's reply:

Thank you both! Also, thank you for the suggestion. I will talk with the man who has done most of the remodeling for us. Much as I hate to say it ......we are all getting older & safety is a priority. Please come again any time. Sue

October Getaway

My husband and I recently stayed at the Water crest Cottages. We brought our dog Jingles with us. The cottage was very cozy and it was evident that the owners tried to provide all the comforts of home. The complex is peaceful and convenient to stores and beaches. The beds were comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with everything that we needed. We will definitely come again. We would highly recommend this as a place to come for a relaxing vacation.

Sue Scipione

Owner's reply:

Hi Stella!
Thank you so much for your nice thoughts. Our cottage (we hoped) would be your home away from home. I am glad we are getting there! We have a guest book on the kitchen table & our guest leave suggestions that have helped a lot.
Our guest are our priority.....including guest dogs. Thankx again, Sue

Great vacation

We stayed at the Cottage Unit 109 in September of this year. The cottage was very clean, the kitchen was well equipped and had everything you would need. It is a beautiful area to visit and we would rent the cottage again. Although we did not use the pool it look very clean and well maintained.

Sue Scipione

Owner's reply:

Hi Denise,
Thank you - Thank you! We try to make the cottage your home. I do the first total cleaning & stocking around May1st. Then I have this wonderful lady named Linda & she is a treasure. She keeps our cottage clean & comfortable till we close in October. We hope your little dog got to use some of the things in the "Dog Guest" Box & had a good stay. September is a nice quiet time to come. Take care, Sue

Owner's reply:

The Cottage Condo Association just totally reconditioned our Pool & put in a new Jacuzzi, I am really glad you like it!! As for Maine food I agree it is outstanding. We only come up to our cottage once in the spring to open it. So we have to wait a year to get our "Food Fix" Clam Chowder, Lobster, Fried Clams, etc, etc. wonderful. Sue

very clean and comfortable

perfect size for 2 people since has a large kitchen, bedroom and screened porch but no living room area. The cottage was very clean and well supplied. Perfect location. Pet-friendly. Relaxing vacation.

Sue Scipione

Owner's reply:

Hi Nancy, Thank you! We picked and bought this cottage because it was a corner lot & we could sit on the porch & see the Ocean in the distance. We also wanted a cottage for 4 people because we believed that our Guest would take care of it as if it were their own. In 13 years of Guest we have been fortunate that this is true. So we do not miss having a living room, we love our cottage and wouldn't trade for a bigger one. As you said all our rooms are large. Again, thankx for writing. Sue

Very nice cottage!

We found this cottage while seeking out a pet friendly place to stay. Sue responded immediately and was very helpful with a lot of useful information about the cottage, local tips for eating, cottage, etc. This family resort is in a great location that is very close to the shore (short drive) and to restaurants and shops. It was perfect for us since the place is truly pet friendly and we saw quite a few other families traveling with their furry family members too. When we got there Sue had left the cottage very clean and has stocked the cottage with positively everything that you will need for your stay...and more! Both my hubby and I thought the cottage was bigger than the pictures reflect. All three rooms were a nice size and did not have that crampt feeling we have felt in other cottages. This cottage is cozy, clean and we will definitely recommend to our friends and family that are planning a trip to Wells. Thanks so much to Sue and Skip for letting us stay in their lovely cottage!! We will be back again some day!

Owner's reply:

Vicky & Hrayr,
Thank you so much for this great review! We enjoy sharing our cottage with guest & I am always looking around for little things that will help make the stay comfortable. This year we added a local telephone because many of our guest are Canadian & if they use their cell phone it is a out of country call. Now all local calls are free. Vicky please come back any time, furry guest are special & always welcome too. Sue & Skip

Very comfortable homey charmIng cottage with very comfortable beds. Not noisy when we were there. Good neighbors. Air conditioner heater combination perfect for hot days and cool mornings . Well equipped cook in kitchen and lots of great food to eat out nearby. Bathroom with shower and tub and all the rest with lots of room. My dog, Oscar, also felt welcome and ar home. Shopping, beach, relaxation, friendly people. What more could a girl ask?

Sue Scipione

Owner's reply:

Hi Margaret and Oscar,
Thank you! I hope Oscar found his dog biscuits and the Blue Water Crest tags. The little dog tag has on it Cottage 109, Water Crest and the office phone number. I like my guest dogs to wear it so they can be returned immediately if something happens. Then they can leave the tag for the next guest. I am glad you like our cottage. Sue

Awesome for kids

Our first time renting a cottage. Very clean with everything we needed for our stay. Nice pool, friendly staff! We stayed in a handicap accessible cottage due to my grandma and her walker and it was perfect! Every morning we ran to wells beach and back, right next to a grocery store and Dunkin donuts too!! We stay here again!

Sue Scipione

Owner's reply:

Hi Alicia,
Thank you for the very nice review but I must let you know you and your Grandmother stayed in Cottage #101. Cottages #101 and #102 are special Handicapped access Units. My cottage #109 has two steps at the entrance. I am really happy you liked Water Crest because we all are individual owners in a Association. We work to keep everything looking nice.
Again, Thank You! Sue

Peaceful vacation

My vacation started with a rainbow and ended with a beautiful sunrise. Best of all the week in between was perfect. The cottage was clean, comfortable and quiet. The location makes it easy to access area sights or you can just hang out at the beautiful pool. I will definitely return.

Best stay in Wells

It was a very quiet place. You can sleep until 8:00 am whithout earing any noise. Everything is there make your stay confortable : pool, SPA,BBQ, picinic table... The cottage is full equiped; you can cook everything you want to. All equipments work approparly. The only negative thing is that the air conditionning don't refresh enough the bedroom. Instead, there's a fan that can brings you fresh air. We recommand this place and surely come back a second time.

the cottage was very clean and well kept everything was provided for except a few items. The place did not have a living area, had to watch TV in the bedroom. the weather was hot so the bedroom was warm too, we could have used a window fan, the screened porch was very comfortable, we did enjoy our stay as it was only 3 nights

Enjoyable stay!!!

We took our first family trip to Maine last week, my husband, myself, and our 17 month old son. The cottage was quaint, cozy and quite homey. It was the perfect size to keep a close eye on our little guy, who is very active. Cottage and all property were well maintained and clean. Location was great, close to everything, very easy to find. Everything from booking to check out was great, nice and easy.

Awesome getaway

My daughter had 2 upcoming doctor appointments and we both needed some time to get away and relax and that's just what we were able to do. We stayed in cottage #109 for 4 days and when we left we felt like we were leaving "our" home. We have never done this before but we will definately come back

Very Relaxing Time!

My husband and I stayed in a one bedroom cottage (#136) at the beginning of September 2008. The cottage was very clean, quaint with nice furnishings. The amenities were great especially the kitchenette, gas grill, laundry on site, full bath with shower/tub, cable TV, etc. It was a quite place to stay while being close to restaurants, beaches, churches and other local interests. The price was great for an off-season rental. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We had a great experience at Water Crest Cottages. Irene and Paulette in the office were very friendly and the cottage was spotless and comfortable. We've stayed in several different places around the area over the years and this was by far at the top of our list. We hope to stay there next summer. Thanks for everything. Beth
